Analysis of images obtained from two-dimensional gel electrophoresis （2D-GE） is a topic of utmost importance in bioinformatics research, since commercial and academic software available currently has proven to be neither completely effective nor fully automatic, often requiring manual revision and refinement of computer generated matches. In this work, we present an effective technique for the detection and the reconstruction of over-saturated protein spots. Firstly, the algorithm reveals overexposed areas, where spots may be truncated, and plateau regions caused by smeared and overlapping spots. Next, it reconstructs the correct distribution of pixel values in these overexposed areas and plateau regions, using a two-dimensional least-squares fitting based on a generalized Gaussian distribution. Pixel correction in saturated and smeared spots allows more accurate quantification, providing more reliable image analysis results. The method is validated for *** exposed 2D-GE images, comparing reconstructed spots with the corresponding non-saturated image, demonstrating that the algorithm enables correct spot quantification.

Continuous global-scale mapping of human settlements in the service of international agreements calls for massive volume of multi-source,multi-temporal,and multi-scale earth observation *** this paper,the latest developments in terms of processing big earth observation data for the purpose of improving the Global Human settlement layer(GHsl)data are *** experiments with sentinel-1 and landsat data collections were run leveraging on the Joint research Centre Earth Observation Data and Processing Platform.A comparative analysis of the results of built-up areas extraction from different remote sensing data and processing workflows shows how the information production supported by data-intensive computing infrastructure for optimization and multiple testing can improve the output information reliability and consistency within the GHsl *** paper presents the processing workflows and the results of the two main experiments,giving insights into the enhanced mapping capabilities gained by analyzing sentinel-1 and landsat data-sets,and the lessons learnt in terms of handling and processing big earth observation data.

Background synthesizing dance motions to match musical inputs is a significant challenge in animation *** to functional human motions,such as locomotion,dance motions are creative and artistic,often influenced by music,and can be independent body language *** choreography requires motion content to follow a general dance genre,whereas dance performances under musical influence are infused with diverse impromptu motion *** the high expressiveness and variations in space and time,providing accessible and effective user control for tuning dance motion styles remains an open *** In this study,we present a hierarchical framework that decouples the dance synthesis task into independent *** use a high-level choreography module built as a Transformer-based sequence model to predict the long-term structure of a dance genre and a low-level realization module that implements dance stylization and synchronization to match the musical input or user *** novel framework allows the individual modules to be trained *** of the decoupling,dance composition can fully utilize existing high-quality dance datasets that do not have musical accompaniments,and the dance implementation can conveniently incorporate user controls and edit motions through a decoder *** module is replaceable at runtime,which adds flexibility to the synthesis of dance *** synthesized results demonstrate that our framework generates high-quality diverse dance motions that are well adapted to varying musical conditions and user controls.

Mitigation measures of debris flow and landslide risk carried out in two mountain areas of North-Eastern Italy

The design of remediation works for the mitigation and prevention of the associated risk is needed where these geological hazards affect anthropized areas. remedial measures for landslides commonly include slope reshaping, plumbing, drainage, retaining structures and internal slope reinforcement, while debris flow control works consist in open or closed control structures. The effectiveness of the remedial works implemented must be assessed by evaluating the reduction of the risk over time. The choice of the most appropriate and cost-effective intervention must consider the type of hazard and environmental issues, and selects, wherever possible, naturalistic engineering operations that are consequently implemented according to the environmental regulations or the design and specification standards imposed by the competent public administrations. The mitigation procedures consist of five basic steps:(a) acquisition of the knowledge of the hazard process;(b) risk assessment with identification of possible disaster scenarios;(c) planning and designing of specific remedial measures to reduce and/or eliminate the potential risk;(d) slope monitoring after application of remedial measures,(e) transfer of knowledge to the stakeholders. This paper presents two case studies describing the practice for the design of the mitigation measures adopted for debris flow and active landslide sites in North-Eastern Italy. The first case study is a debris flow site, for which, based on observation of past events and numerical simulations using the software FlOW-2D, the most suitable mitigation measures were found to be the construction of a debris basin, barriers and breakers. The second case study deals with an active landslide threatening a village. Based on the landslide kinematics and the results of numerical simulations performed with the code FlAC, hard engineering remedial works were planned to reduce the driving forces with benching and by increasing the available resisting forc

Android is the mobile operating system most frequently targeted by malware in the smartphone ecosystem,with a market share significantly higher than its competitors and a much larger total number of *** of malware before being published on official or unofficial application markets is critically important due to the typical end users'widespread security *** this paper,a novel feature selection method is proposed along with an Android malware detection *** feature selection method proposed in this study makes use of permissions,API calls,and strings as features,which are statically extractable from the Android executables(APK files)and it can be used in a machine learning process with different algorithms to detect malware on the Android platform.A novel document frequency-based approach,namely Delta IDF,was designed and implemented for feature *** IDF was tested upon three universal benchmark datasets that contain Android malware samples and highly promising results were obtained by using several binary classification algorithms.

Model reconstruction is crucial in blade repair because it directly determines the shape precision and finish of a repaired ***,owing to insufficient surface data pertaining to defective regions and the unique deformation caused by harsh environments,modeling a worn blade remains ***,a model reconstruction method for worn blades is developed in this *** conventional methods of constructing and interpolating sectional curves,the proposed method focuses on modifying a nominal computer aided design(CAD)model to reconstruct the worn *** weighted rigid registration and constraint-based non-rigid registration,the design surface extracted from the nominal CAD model can be deformed to align with the surface data of the worn blade without a significant loss of its initial *** results show that the deformed design surface exhibits sufficient smoothness and accuracy for guiding tool path generation in the subsequent blade repair.
