We implemented for the first time our radioactive particle tracking as an advanced noninvasive tech- nique to further evaluate and validate our newly developed mechanistic scale-up methodology based on matching the radial profile of the gas *** spouted beds with diameters of 0.076 and 0.152 m were used. three sets of conditions were implemented; i.e., conditions of the reference case, conditions that provided a gas-holdup radial profile similar to that of the reference case, and conditions that provided a gas-holdup radial profile dissimilar to that of the reference case. the results confirm the validation of the scale-up methodology in terms of obtaining closer dimensionless values and radial profiles of compo- nents of the particle velocity, normal stress, shear stress, and turbulent kinetic energy, the results further advance the understanding of gas-solids spouted beds, provide deeper insight into the solids dynamics of the beds and present important benchmarking data for validating computational fluid dynamics codes and models.

the risk of flammability is an unavoidable issue for gel polymer electrolytes(GPEs).Usually,flameretardant solvents are necessary to be used,but most of them would react with anode/cathode easily and cause serious interfacial instability,which is a big challenge for design and application of nonflammable ***,a nonflammable GPE(sGPE)is developed by in situ polymerizing trifluoroethyl methacrylate(tFMA)monomers with flame-retardant triethyl phosphate(tEP)solvents and LitFsI–LiDFOB dual lithium *** is strongly anchored to PtFMA matrix via polarity interaction between-P=O and-CH_(2)CF_(3).It reduces free tEP molecules,which obviously mitigates interfacial reactions,and enhances flame-retardant performance of tEP *** tEP molecules are also inhibited in solvation of Li^(+),leading to anion-dominated solvation sheath,which creates inorganic-rich solid electrolyte interface/cathode electrolyte interface *** coordination structure changes Li^(+)transport from sluggish vehicular to fast structural transport,raising ionic conductivity to 1.03 ms cm^(-1) and transfer number to 0.41 at 30℃.the Li|sGPE|Li cell presents highly reversible Li stripping/plating performance for over 1000 h at 0.1 mA cm^(−2),and 4.2 V LiCoO_(2)|sGPE|Li battery delivers high average specific capacity>120 mAh g^(−1) over 200 *** study paves a new way to make nonflammable GPE that is compatible with Li metal anode.

the Janus fabrics designed for personal moisture/thermal regulation have garnered significant attention for their potential to enhance human ***,the development of smart and dynamic fabrics capable of managing personal moisture/thermal comfort in response to changing external environments remains a ***,a smart cellulose-based Janus fabric was designed to dynamically manage personal moisture/*** cotton fabric was grafted with N-isopropylacrylamide to construct a temperature-stimulated transport ***,hydrophobic ethyl cellulose and hydrophilic cellulose nanofiber were sprayed on the bottom and top sides of the fabric to obtain wettability *** fabric exhibits anti-gravity directional liquid transportation from hydrophobic side to hydrophilic side,and can dynamically and continuously control the transportation time in a wide range of 3–66 s as the temperature increases from 10 to 40℃.this smart fabric can quickly dissipate heat at high temperatures,while at low temperatures,it can slow down the heat dissipation rate and prevent the human from becoming too *** addition,the fabric has UV shielding and photodynamic antibacterial properties through depositing graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets on the hydrophilic *** smart fabric offers an innovative approach to maximizing personal comfort in environments with significant temperature variations.

No Quantum Process Can Explain the Existence of the Preferred Basis: Decoherence Is Not Universal

Environment induced decoherence, and other quantum processes, have been proposed in the literature to explain the apparent spontaneous selection—out of the many mathematically eligible bases—of a privileged measurement basis that corresponds to what we actually observe. this paper describes such processes, and demonstrates that—contrary to common belief—no such process can actually lead to a preferred basis in general. the key observation is that environment induced decoherence implicitly assumes a prior independence of the observed system, the observer and the environment. However, such independence cannot be guaranteed, and we show that environment induced decoherence does not succeed in establishing a preferred measurement basis in general. We conclude that the existence of the preferred basis must be postulated in quantum mechanics, and that changing the basis for a measurement is, and must be, described as an actual physical process.

BACKGROUND Primary squamous cell carcinoma(sCC)of the renal parenchyma is extremely rare,with only nine cases *** sUMMARY this study reports a 51-year-old man with primary sCC of the renal *** patient was admitted with recurrent dull pain and discomfort in the right lumbar region,which had worsened over 2 weeks,accompanied by painful gross *** antigen(sCCA)levels were elevated,and imaging revealed a renal mass with associated *** patient underwent laparoscopic unilateral nephrectomy and lymph node *** pathology confirmed highly differentiated sCC with necrosis in the right renal parenchyma,with negative renal pelvis and *** pathological stage was *** months after surgery,the tumor recurred with involvement of the liver,right psoas major muscle,and inferior vena *** patient refused chemotherapy and succumbed to the disease 6 months postoperatively due to disease *** We report a case of primary sCC of the renal parenchyma,a rare renal *** clinical symptoms,laboratory tests,and imaging findings are nonspecific,making accurate and timely diagnosis *** to the literature,for patients with renal calculi accompanied by a renal mass,elevated serum sCCA levels,and magnetic resonance imaging showing cystic or cystic-solid masses within the kidney with pseudocapsules and heterogeneous mild enhancement,the possibility of this disease should be considered.

Fungi are known to be crucial in the formation and stabilization of soil organic matter through their exudates and dead residues (necromass). Yet, it remains unclear how fungi contribute to the persistence of carbon in soils over millennial scales across biomes. Here, this study fills the knowledge gap by linking fungal carbon stocks with minerals-associated carbon stocks across major biomes. A strong correlation between fungal biomass and reactive mineral-associated carbon stocks in soils across six biomes supports the substantial role of fungi in soil carbon persistence at the global level. High spatial resolution nanoscale secondary ion mass spectrometry revealed that fungi may stabilize carbon by forming organo-mineral associations through their close physical connection to reactive minerals and weathered nanoparticles. We propose a conceptual model that emphasizes the dualistic role of hypha-mineral interactions:(i) fungi accelerate organic matter decomposition by producing reactive oxygen species on the hypha-mineral interfaces, and (ii) fungi stabilize their residues on mineral surfaces, leading to millennial scale persistence of soil C. Concluding, fungi play a fundamental role in ecosystems that extends beyond the decomposition of persistent carbon. they are crucial in stabilizing carbon on mineral surfaces, thereby facilitating the long-term removal of carbon from rapid biotic cycling.
