Lacustrine shale oiliness influenced by diabase intrusions in the Paleogene Funing Formation,Subei Basin,China

The research on the correlation between hydrocarbon accumulations and magmatic activities has always attracted aroused much wide attention.Existing research has primarily the hydrocarbon generations capability of source rocks and the quality of reservoirs by diabase intrusions.whereas,rare systematic research has been conducted on the oiliness and enrichment mechanism.To be specific,the diabase intrusive zone,the contact metamorphic zone and the normal shale zone of the Funing Formation in the Gaoyou Sag,Subei Basin were taken as the object of this study.Moreover,in this study,the hydrocarbon generation quality,reservoir quality,and oil-bearing quality of diabase-metamorphic zone-normal shale were evaluated using X-ray diffractions,argon ion polishing-field emission scanning electron microscope,energy spectrum,rock slice/light-sheet microscopic observations,organic geochemical tests,N_(2) gas adsorption and 2D NMR tests.The results indicated that the intrusive zone,the metamorphic zone,and the normal zone were formed in order by the degree of effect of diabase intrusions.Secondly,the oil content of different parts exhibited significant heterogeneity due to the baking effect of diabase,and the metamorphic zone had the significantly better oil-bearing nature than the intrusive zone.Lastly,a distribution model was proposed for the diabase intrusive zone-metamorphic zone-normal surrounding rock zone.

Mercury concentration in natural gas and its distribution in the Tarim Basin

Here I collected natural gas samples from 41 industrial gas wells in the Tarim Basin,and studied the mercury distribution in the area.My data show that there is certain regularity in the distribution of mercury in the Tarim Basin.Generally,the mercury concentration is high at the edge of the basin and low in the central basin.The highest mercury concentration occurs in the southwest Depression,ranging from 15428.5 to 296763.0ng/m3 with an average of 156095.7ng/m3,followed by the Kuqa Depression ranging from 15.0 to 56964.3ng/m3 with an average of 11793.7ng/m3,and the Hade oil and gas field in the North Depression has the lowest mercury concentration ranging from 17.7 to 3339.5ng/m3 with an average of 1678.6ng/m3.The mercury concentrations in the natural gases of different structural units are various,with the highest mercury concentration in the zone of strong structural activity of southwest Depression.It is profitable of Hg accumulation in the self sourced and self accumulated gas reservoirs or volcanic existence;in contrast,the low Hg concentration exists in the secondary gas reservoir.The mercury concentration in the natural gas generated under continental depositional environment is higher than that in marine gas.Therefore,the mercury concentration in the natural gases is constrained by gas genesis,depositional environment of source rocks,tectonic activity,and volcanic activity,and the tectonic activity is the main factor for the mercury concentration in the natural gas,followed by volcanic activity and depositional environments.

Hydrocarbon Vertical Continuity Evaluation in the Cretaceous Reservoirs of Azadegan oilfield, southwest of Iran: Implications for Reservoir Geochemistry

A collection of data obtained from analytical methods in geochemistry along with the reservoir engineering and geologic data were used to investigate the reservoir continuity in the Cretaceous Fahliyan, Gadavan, Kazhdumi and Sarvak reservoirs of the super-giant Azadegan oilfield, SW Iran. The geochemical data indicate that the oil samples, with medium to high level of thermal maturity, have been generated from the anoxic marine marl/carbonate source rock(s). The Sargelu(Jurassic) and Garau(Cretaceous) formations are introduced as the main source rocks for the studied oils. The dendrogram obtained from the cluster analysis of high-resolution gas chromatography data introduces two main oil groups including Fahliyan reservoir, and Kazhdumi along with Sarvak/Gadvan reservoirs. This is confirmed by C7 Halpern star diagram, indicating that, the light oil fraction from Fahliyan reservoir is distinct from the others. Also, different pressure gradient of the Fahliyan Formation(over-pressured) relative to other reservoirs(normally-pressured) show the presence of compartments. The relation between toluene/n-heptane and n-heptane/methylcyclohexane represents the compartmentalization due to maturation/evaporative fractionation for Fahliyan and water washing for other studied reservoirs. Also, the impermeable upper part of the Fahliyan Formation and thin interbedded shaly layers in the Kazhdumi, Sarvak and Gadvan formations have controlled reservoir compartmentalization.

Development Status and Prospects of Chinese Natural gas Industry in 2021

China’s natural gas industry saw a strong rebound in supply and demand in 2021,with apparent consumption reaching 372.6 billion m^(3),up by 12.7%year on year.The increase in domestic gas reserves and production continued to advance,with production reaching 208.6 billion m^(3),an increase of more than 10 billion m^(3) for five consecutive years.Imported natural gas grew at a high rate,with imported pipeline gas and imported LNG totaling 169.1 billion m^(3) in 2021,up by 20.9%year on year,making China the world’s top LNG importer for the first time.In 2022,as China’s economy continues to recover steadily and the development of clean energy decarbonization continues under the“Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Goals”strategy,the natural gas market will maintain sustained growth,but the incremental demand level and growth rate will be lower than in 2021,with demand growth expected to reach 6%-7%.

A study on accumulation and distribution of gas in southern Songliao Basin

A number of isolated fault sags in Late Jurassic--Early Cretaceous were developed in the early stage of southern Songliao Basin,and unified to a depression basin in the late stage.Therefore,multiple isolated lower petroliferous systems were formed with fault sags as source rocks.The source rocks of fault sags in Late Jurassic--Early Cretaceous were mainly described with gas generation as favorable source rocks,leading to the southern Songliao Basin rich in natural gas resources combined with organic gas resources in Nenjiang Formation.A number of tectonic movements in southern Songliao Basin led to the formation of abundant structural traps and complex fault systems,and controlled the distribution strata and positions of sources rocks in Late Jurassic--Early Cretaceous fault sags.The oil-gas reservoirs can be divided into two types,i.e.,primary and secondary ones.The primary oil-gas reservoirs were distributed in the fault sag strata and the bottom of overlying depression strata(lower Quan-1 Member).The oil-gas reservoir accumulation depended on the trap development situation and the distance from source rocks.The preservation conditions of oil-gas reservoirs depended on the degree of reconstruction in the late tectonism.The secondary oil-gas reservoirs were distribution in the Quantou Formation of depression strata,where oil and gas reservoir accumulation depended on three conditions,i.e.,trap development situation,deep gas sources and the fault to connect the shallow traps and deep gas sources.The southern Songliao Basin is rich in lower coal type gas,upper oil-gas and biogas resources,which are important resources in the future.

Study of Fractal Characteristics of the Cementation Index in Shale gas

The description of pores and fracture structures is a consistently important issue and certainly a difficult problem, especially for shale or tight rocks. However, the exploitation of so-called unconventional energy, such as shale methane and tight-oil, has become more and more dependent on an understanding of the inner structure of these unconventional reservoirs. The inner structure of porous rocks is very difficult to describe quantitatively using normal mathematics, but fractal geometry, which is a powerful mathematical tool for describing irregularly-shaped objects, can be applied to these rocks. To some degree, the cementation index and tortuosity can be used to describe the complexity of these structures. The cementation index can be acquired through electro-lithology experiments, but, until now, tortuosity could not be quantitatively depicted. This research used the well-logging curves of a gas shale formation to reflect the characteristics of the rock formations, and the changes in the curves to indicate the changes of the rock matrix, the pores, the connections among the pores, the permeability, and the fluid type. The curves that are affected most by the rock lithology, such as gamma ray, acoustic logging, and deep resistivity curves, can provide significant information about the micro-or nanostructure of the rocks. If the rock structures have fractal characteristics, the logging curves will also have fractal properties. Based on the definition of a fractal dimension and the Hausdorff dimension, this paper presents a new methodology for calculating the fractal dimensions of logging curves. This paper also reveals the deep meaning of the rock cementation index, m, through the Hausdorff dimension, and provides a new equation to calculate this parameter through the resistivity and porosity of the formation. The control of astronomical cycles on lacustrine fine-grained event Sedimentation——A case study of the Chunshang sub-member of the upper Es_(4) in the Dongying Sag

Fine-grained lacustrine sedimentation controlled by astronomical cycles remains a research weakness in sedimentology studies,as most studies have concentrated on how astronomical cycles affect the normal lacustrine fine-grained sedimentation,but how they affect the lacustrine fine-grained event sedimen-tation has been rarely studied.Therefore,this work researched the characteristics of event sedimentation by systematically observing the cores from 30 cored wells in the Shahejie Formation of the Dongying Sag at a depth of over 1800 m,with more than 4000 thin sections being authenticated and over 1000 whole rocks being analyzed by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The research object was the Chunshang Sub-member of Upper Es_(4) in the Fanye 1 well,as it had the most comprehensive analysis data and underwent the most continuous coring.We divided astronomical cycles into different orders and made corresponding curves using the gamma-ray(GR)curve,spectral analysis,power spectrum estimation,and module extreme values,there were 6 long eccentricity periods,22 short eccentricity periods,65.5 obliquity cycles,and 110.5 precession cycles in this sub-member.On this basis,this study analyzed the control of astronomical cycles on the lacustrine fine-grained event sedimentation,and the research shows deposits were developed by slide-slump,turbidities,hyperpycnites,and tempestites in the Chunshang Sub-member of the Upper Es_(4),with higher long eccentricity,the monsoon climate contributes to the formation of storm currents,while with lower long eccentricity,the surface deposits are severely eroded by rivers and rainfalls,thus developing the slide-slump,turbidities,and hyperpycnites.The relationship between the lacustrine fine-grained event sedimentation and astronomical cycles was studied in this case study,which can promote research on fine-grained sedimentary rocks in genetic dynamics and boost the theoretical and disciplinary development in fine-grained sedimentology.

In this paper,a method of pulsed eddy current detection signal reconstruction based on stacked autoencoder is proposed to amplify the difference of pulsed eddy current response signal between non-defective and micro-defective samples in the feature space,so as to provide support for the detection and identification of micro-deformation of casing structure.In the process of the test,according to the actual working condition of several types of defects that may occur(bending deformation,extrusion deformation,reducing distortion),and the corresponding experimental specimens were prefabricated before the experiment analysis.Through the experiment,a method of signal reconstruction called stacked auto encoder is proposed and compared with time domain features analysis and principle component analysis which obtain good performance in the detection of large deformation.The result is that the method proposed in this paper has a better performance in the detection of small deformation and the detection rate is increased,which provides a support for the detection of small deformation in the future.
