Discontinuity is critical for strength,deformability,and permeability of rock *** information is one of the essential discontinuity characteristics and is usually accessed by orientation *** methods of identifying optimal discontinuity set numbers are usually achieved by clustering validity indexes,which mainly relies on the aggregation and dispersion of clusters and leads to the inaccuracy and instability of *** paper proposes a new method of Fisher mixed evaluation(FME)to identify optimal group numbers of rock mass discontinuity *** FME,orientation distribution is regarded as the superposition of Fisher mixed *** grouping results are identified by considering the fitting accuracy of Fisher mixed distributions,the probability monopoly and central location significance of independent Fisher centers.A Halley-Expectation-Maximization(EM)algorithm is derived to achieve an automatic fitting of Fisher mixed *** real rock discontinuity models combined with three orientation clustering algorithms are adopted for discontinuity *** clustering validity indexes are used to automatically identify optimal group numbers for *** results show that FME is more accurate and robust than the other clustering validity indexes in optimal discontinuity group number identification for different rock models and orientation clustering algorithms.

Resilient performance of self-centering hybrid rocking walls with curved interface under pseudo-static loading

Frame and rocking wall(FRW)structures have excellent resilient performance during ***,the concrete at interfacial corners of rocking walls(RWs)is easily crushed due to local extreme compression during the rocking *** innovative RW with a curved interface is proposed to prevent interfacial corners from producing local damage,enhancing its earthquake resilient performance(ERP).The precast wall panel with a curved interface is assembled into an integral self-centering hybrid rocking wall(SCRW)by two post-tensioned unbonded prestressed ***,two ordinary energy dissipation steel rebars and two shear reinforcements are arranged to increase the energy dissipation capacity and lateral *** SCRW specimens and one monolithic reinforced concrete(RC)shear wall(SW)were tested under pseudo-static loading to compare the ERPs of the proposed SCRW and the SW,focusing on studying the effect of the curved interface on the *** key resilient performance of rocking effects,failure modes,and hysteretic properties of the SCRW were *** results show that nonlinear deformations of the SCRW are concentrated along the interface between the SCRW and the foundation,avoiding damage within the *** restoring force provided by the prestressed tendons can effectively realize self-centering capacity with small residual deformation,and the resilient performance of the SCRW is better than that of monolithic *** addition,the curved interface of the SCRW makes the rocking center change and move inward,partially relieving the stress concentration and crush of *** rocking range of the rocking center is about 41.4%of the width of the SCRW.

The structure–activity relationships of Rh/CeO_(2)-ZrO_(2) catalysts based on Rh metal size effect in the three-way catalytic reactions

With the continuous tightening of automotive emission regulations and the increasing promotion of energy-efficient hybrid vehicles,new challenges have arisen for the low-temperature performance of three-way catalysts(TWCs).To guide the design of next-generation TWCs,it is essential to further develop our understanding of the relationships between microstructure and catalytic ***,Rh/CeO_(2)–ZrO_(2) catalysts were synthesized with different Rh metal dispersion by using a combination of the wet impregnation method and reduction *** catalysts included Rh single-atom catalysts,cluster catalysts,and nanoparticle *** results showed that the Rh nanoparticle catalyst,with an average size of 1.9 nm,exhibited superior three-way catalytic performance compared to the other *** on the catalytic activity in a series of simple reaction atmospheres such as CO+O_(2),NO+CO,and hydrocarbons(HCs)+O_(2) and operando infrared spectroscopy,we found that metallic Rh sites on Rh nanoparticles are the key factor responsible for the low-temperature catalytic performance.

Experimental and DFT Investigations of AlNbTiVZr High Entropy Alloys with Excellent Mechanical Properties

This study investigated the microstructure and mechanical properties of AlNbTiVZr series high-entropy alloys(HEAs)through both experimental studies and density functional theory *** improvements in the microstructures and mechanical properties were achieved for the AlNbTiVZr series HEAs by meticulously adjusting the alloy composition and employing homogenization heat ***,the specimen designated as Al_(0.5)NbTiVZr_(0.5) demonstrated excellent mechanical properties including a compressive yield strength of 1162 MPa and a compressive strength of 1783 *** homogenization heat treatment at 1000℃ for 24 h,the Al_(0.5)NbTiVZr_(0.5) alloy exhibits brittle-to-ductile *** atomic-scale theoretical simulations reveal that the decrease of Al content intrinsically enhances the ductility of the alloys,thereby indicating that the mechanical properties of the AlNbTiVZr series HEAs were significantly influenced by the chemical ***,specific atomic pair formations were observed to adversely affect the microstructure of the AlNbTiVZr series HEAs,particularly in terms of *** findings provide valuable insights for the design and optimization of light weight HEAs,emphasizing the synergistic adjustment of alloy composition and heat treatment processes to achieve a balance between the strength and ductility.

Hydrogen and nitrogen absorption properties of Ce-added Zr_(2)(Fe_(1-x)Ni_(x)) alloys

To improve the nitriding resistance of Zr_(2)Fe alloy,the Ce-added Zr_(2)(Fe_(1-x)Ni_(x))(x=0,0.15,0.3,0.5)alloys were prepared by magnetic levitation melting *** effects of Ni substitution for Fe on the phase structure,hydrogen and nitrogen absorption properties of the alloys were investigated by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy and p-c isotherm *** experimental results show that Ni substitution can effectively inhibit the formation of both α-Zr and ZrFe_(2) phases and promote the formation of C16 structure Zr_(2)(Fe,Ni)phase,causing Ni-substituted alloys to exhibit low nitrogen absorption rate and *** 623 K under 0.5 MPa nitrogen pressure,the nitrogen absorption capacity of Ce-added Zr_(2)(Fe_(0.5)Ni_(0.5))alloy reaches to 0.8 mL/g,much lower than that of Zr_(2)Fe alloy(1.5 mL/g).Ni substitution decreases the crystal cell volume of the C_(16)Zr_(2)(Fe,Ni)phase,resulting in an increase in the hydrogen absorption equilibrium *** 623 K under 0.05 MPa hydrogen pressure,the hydrogen absorption capacity decreases from 1.46 wt%of Zr_(2)Fe alloy to 1.41 wt%of Ce-added Zr_(2)(Fe_(0.5)Ni_(0.5))alloy.

Road sub-surface defect detection based on gprMax forward simulation-sample generation and Swin Transformer-YOLOX

Training samples for deep learning networks are typically obtained through various field experiments,which require significant manpower,resource and time ***,it is possible to utilize simulated data to augment the training *** this paper,by comparing the actual experimental model with the simulated model generated by the gprMax[1]forward simulation method,the feasibility of obtaining simulated samples through gprMax simulation is ***,the samples generated by gprMax forward simulation are used for training the network to detect objects in existing real *** the same time,aiming at the detection and intelligent recognition of road sub-surface defects,the Swin-YOLOX algorithm is introduced,and the excellence of the detection network,which is improved by augmenting the simulated samples with real samples,is further *** comparing the prediction performance of the object detection models,it is observed that the model trained with mixed samples achieved a recall of 94.74%and a mean average precision(maP)of 97.71%,surpassing the model trained only on real samples by 12.95%and 15.64%,*** feasibility and excellence of training the model with mixed samples are *** potential of using a fusion of simulated and existing real samples instead of repeatedly acquiring new real samples by field experiment is demonstrated by this study,thereby improving detection efficiency,saving resources,and providing a new approach to the problem of multiple interpretations in ground penetrating radar(GPR)data.

Improving strength-ductility synchronously of Electron beam welded Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint through isothermal forging

Different alloys can be flexibly combined to meet the performance needs of different parts of the compressor disc by welding process. However, achieving a good combination of dissimilar alloys with different mechanical properties has always been a research difficulty. In this work, a Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint was fabricated through electron beam welding and an isothermal forging was used to optimized its microstructure and mechanical performance. The isothermal forging process increases the ultimate tensile strength（UST） and yield strength（YS）of the Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint by ～18 %, while ～2.5 times the ductility. It is indicated that before forging, the Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint exhibits a much lower strength than that of Ti600 matrix, whereas the opposite is true after isothermal forging. The isothermal forging broken the coarse columnar grains of Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint and render to an equiaxed B2 structure in which the acicular α2and O phase are precipitated, resulting a synchronous enhancement of strength and ductility. This work may pave an effective routine for improving the comprehensive mechanical properties of dissimilar metal welding joint.

A molecular insight into coke formation process of vacuum residue in thermal cracking reaction

Understanding the coking behaviors has been considered to be really essential for developing better vacuum residue processing technologies.A battery of thermal cracking tests of typical vacuum residue at 410℃ with various reaction time were performed to evaluate the coke formation *** total yields of ideal components including naphtha,atmospheric gas oil(AGO)and vacuum gas oil(VGO)of thermal cracking reactions increased from 10.89%to 40.81%,and the conversion ratios increased from8.05%to 43.33%with increasing the reaction time from 10 to 70 *** asphaltene content increased from 12.14%to a maximum of 22.39%and then decreased,and this maximum of asphaltene content occurred at the end of the coking induction *** asphaltenes during the coking induction period,at the end and after coking induction period of those tested thermal cracking reactions were characterized to disclose the structure changing rules for coke formation process,and the coke formation pathways were discussed to reveal the coke formation process at molecular level.

FSS: algorithm and neural network accelerator for style transfer

Neural networks(NNs), owing to their impressive performance, have gradually begun to dominate multimedia processing. For resource-constrained and energy-sensitive mobile devices, an efficient NN accelerator is necessary. Style transfer is an important multimedia application. However, existing arbitrary style transfer networks are complex and not well supported by current NN accelerators, limiting their application on mobile devices. Moreover, the quality of style transfer needs improvement. Thus, we design the Fast Style system(FSS), where a novel algorithm and an NN accelerator are proposed for style transfer. In FSS, we first propose a novel arbitrary style transfer algorithm, Fast Style. We propose a light network that contributes to high quality and low computational complexity and a prior mechanism to avoid retraining when the style changes. Then, we redesign an NN accelerator for Fast Style by applying two improvements to the basic NVIDIA deep learning accelerator(NVDLA) architecture. First, a flexible dat FSM and wt FSM are redesigned to enable the original data path to perform other operations(including the GRAM operation)by software programming. Moreover, statistics and judgment logic are designed to utilize the continuity of a video stream and remove the data dependency in the instance normalization, which improves the accelerator performance by 18.6%. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed Fast Style can achieve higher quality with a lower computational cost, making it more suitable for mobile devices. The proposed NN accelerator is implemented on the Xilinx VCU118 FPGA under a 180-MHz clock. Experimental results show that the accelerator can stylize 512×512-pixel video with 20 FPS, and the measured performance reaches up to 306.07 GOPS. The ASIC implementation in TSMC 28 nm achieves about 22 FPS in the case of a 720-p video.
