Effect of crevice density on biological soil crust development on rock cut slope in mountainous regions,sichuan,China

Background The rock cut slope(RCS)could cause damage to regional ecological functions and landscapes and requires *** soil crusts(BSCs)are pioneer and dominant colonizers during the initial recovery *** accelerate the natural recovery of RCS,the development process and influencing agents of BSC should be ***,the area index of crevices(IR),BSC coverage(COV)and biomass(BM),soil weight(SW),and major soil nutrients[organic carbon(OC),total nitrogen(TN)and total phosphorus(TP)]content,collected from 164 quadrats on 13 RCSs in the mountainous area of west sichuan Province,China,were measured,to explore the effect of crevice of RCS on BSC *** Soil OC,TN and TP on RCSs ranged from 18.61 to 123.03 g kg^(-1),0.96 to 6.02 g kg^(-1)and 0.52 to 2.46 g kg^(-1),respectively,and were approximately to or higher than those on natural *** OC,TN and TP contents in soils elevated unsystematically with recovery time of *** on RCS distributed along crevices generally and *** the first 13 years of natural recovery,COV,BM and SW ranged from 6.5 to 28.2%,14.43 to 67.25 g m^(-2),and 127.69 to 1277.74 g m^(-2),***,BM and SW increased linearly with IR on *** positive correlation between COV and BM and IR was insignificantly impacted by bedrock,slope aspect and altitude within the recovery time less than 13 *** and BM on RCSs increased significantly when the recovery time is more than 27 *** Crevice on RCSs could be a major environmental factor which is conducive to BSC development and soil accumulation through creating a space for water and soil ***,with the increase of recovery time of RCSs,BSCs may grow and reach a stable state with the promotion of soil nutrients,plant growth and microbial *** results provide a development process of BSC that from inside to outside the crevices on *** the areas with stable rock strata and a low risk of geological disast

The Seismogenic Structure and Deformation Mechanism of the Lushan(MW 6.6) Earthquake, sichuan, China

On April 20 th, 2013, an earthquake of magnitude MW 6.6 occurred at Lushan of sichuan on the southern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone, with no typical coseismic surface rupture. This work plotted an isoseismal map of the earthquake after repositioning over 400 post–earthquake macro–damage survey points from peak ground acceleration（PGA） data recorded by the sichuan Digital Strong Earthquake Network. This map indicates that the Lushan earthquake has a damage intensity of IX on the Liedu scale, and that the meizoseismal area displays an oblate ellipsoid shape, with its longitudinal axis in the NE direction. No obvious directivity was detected. Furthermore, the repositioning results of 3323 early aftershocks, seismic reflection profiles and focal mechanism solutions suggests that the major seismogenic structure of the earthquake was the Dayi Fault, which partly defines the eastern Mengshan Mountain. This earthquake resulted from the thrusting of the Dayi Fault, and caused shortening of the southern segment of the Longmenshan in the NW–SE direction. Coseismal rupture was also produced in the deep of the Xinkaidian Fault. Based on the above seismogenic model and the presentation of coseismic surface deformation, it is speculated that there is a risk of more major earthquakes occurring in this region.

Geometry and tectonic deformation of the seismogenic structure for the 8 August 2017 M_S 7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake sequence,northern sichuan, China

To reveal the geometry of the seismogenic structure of the Aug. 8, 2017 M_S 7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake in northern sichuan,data from the regional seismic network from the time of the main event to Oct. 31, 2017 were used to relocate the earthquake sequence by the tomoDD program, and the focal mechanism solutions and centroid depths of the M_L ≥ 3.5 events in the sequence were determined using the CAP waveform inversion method. Further, the segmental tectonic deformation characteristics of the seismogenic faults were analyzed preliminarily by using strain rosettes and areal strains(As). The results indicate:(1) The relocated M_S 7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake sequence displays a narrow ～ 38 km long NNW-SSE-trending zone between the NW-striking Tazang Fault and the nearly NSstriking Minjiang Fault, two branches of the East Kunlun Fault Zone. The spatial distribution of the sequence is narrow and deep for the southern segment, and relatively wide and shallow for the northern segment. The initial rupture depth of the mainshock is 12.5 km, the dominant depth range of the aftershock sequence is between 0 and 10 km with an average depth of 6.7 km. The mainshock epicenter is located in the middle of the aftershock region, showing a bilateral rupture behavior. The centroid depths of 32 M_L ≥ 3.5 events range from 3 to 12 km with a mean of about 7.3 km, consistent with the predominant focal depth of the whole sequence.(2) The geometric structure of the seismogenic fault on the southern section of the aftershock area(south of the mainshock) is relatively simple, with overall strike of ～150° and dip angle ～75°, but the dip angle and dip-orientation exhibit some variation along the segment. The seismogenic structure on the northern segment is more complicated; several faults, including the Minjiang Fault, may be responsible for the aftershock activities. The overall strike of this section is ～159° and dip angle is ～59°, illustrating a certain clockwise rotation and a smaller dip angle

It analyses the Castanopsis carlesii, Camellia oleifera and Symplocos launnapopulations' status and role in the Castanopsis carlesii community basing on the study on thedominant population size structure, survival curve and dynamic. It reveals the Castanopsis carlesipopulation acts as a main role in the community which maintains the stabilization and renovation ofthe community. The populations of Camellia oleifera and Symplocos laurina act as a secondaryposition. The development and succession dynamics of dominant populations is also discussed. Themanagement method is preliminary drawn out which offers a theoretical basis for the evergreenbroad-leaved forest restoration and reconstruction in the lower hilly of the west edge of thesichuan basin.

Characterization of summer PM_(2.5) aerosols from four forest areas in sichuan,SW China

Aerosol samples were collected over 24 and 12 h to represent day/night aerosol characteristics in forest areas at Ya＇an Baima Spring Scenic Area （BM）, Panzhihua Cycas National Nature Reserve （PZ）, Gongga Mountain National Nature Reserve （GG）, and Wolong National Nature Reserve （WL）, during the summers of 2010-2012. Mass and chemical component concentrations, including organic carbon, elemental car- bon, and inorganic ions （F , C1 , NO2-, NO3-, SO42-, C2042-, PO43-, K＋, Na＋, Ca2＋, Mg2＋, and NH4＋）, of PM2.5 aerosols were measured. The average PM2.5 concentrations for 24 h were 72.42, 104.89, 20.55, and 29.19 p,g/m3 at BM, PZ, GG, and WL, respectively. Organic matter accounted for 38.0-49.3%, while ele- mental carbon accounted for 2.0-5.7% of PM2.s mass. The sum concentrations of 5042-, NH4＋, and NO3- accounted for 23.0%, 17.4%, 22.1%, and 30.5% of PM2.s mass at BM, PZ, GG, and WL, respectively. Soil dust was also an important source of PM2.s, accounting for 6.3%, 17.0%, 10.4%, and 19.1% of PM2.s mass at BM, PZ, GG, and WL, respectively. These reconstructed masses accounted for 75.9-102.0% of PM2.5 mass from the four forest areas of SW China.

Evaluation of Genetic Diversity of sichuan Common Wheat Landraces in China by SSR Markers

Genetic diversity of 62 sichuan wheat landraces accessions of China was investigated by agronomic traits and SSR markers. The landrace population showed the characters of higher tiller capability and more kernels/spike, especially tiller no./plant of six accessions was over 40 and kernels/spike of three accessions was more than 70. A total of 547 alleles in 124 polymorphic loci were detected with an average of 4.76 alleles per locus by 114 SSR markers. Parameters analysis indicated that the genetic diversity ranked as genome A 〉 genome B 〉 genome D, and the homoeologous groups ranked as 5〉4〉3〉1〉2〉7〉6 based on genetic richness （Ri）. Furthermore, chromosomes 2A, 1B and 3D had more diversity than that of chromosomes 4A, 7A and 6B. The variation of SSR loci on chromosomes 1B, 2A, 2D, 3B, and 4B implied that, in the past, different selective pressures might have acted on different chromosome regions of these landraces. Our results suggested that sichuan common wheat landraces is a useful genetic resource for genetic research and wheat improvement.
