Several diseases originate from bile duct *** studies on these diseases,certain etiologies of some of them still cannot be *** most common disease of the bile duct in newborns is biliary atresia,whose prognosis varies according to the age of surgical *** diseases such as Alagille syndrome,inspissated bile duct syndrome,and choledochal cysts are also time-sensitive because they can cause severe liver damage due to *** majority of these diseases present with cholestatic jaundice in the newborn or infant period,which is quite difficult to differentiate regarding clinical acumen and initial *** cholangiography is potentially necessary to make an accurate diagnosis,and further treatment will be performed synchronously or planned as findings *** article provides a concise review of bile duct diseases,with interesting cases.

The aberrant hepatic duct is classified by Huang et al.[1]into type A(right intrahepatic duct variant)and type B(left intrahepatic duct variant).Type A and B are further classified into 5(A1-5)and 6(B1-6)subtypes,*** variation of cystic duct involves only in type *** A1 or classic arrangement refers to the formation of the common hepatic duct(CHD)by the left hepatic duct(LHD)and the right hepatic duct(RHD).The RHD has two tributaries composed of the right anterior hepatic duct(RAHD)and the right posterior hepatic duct(RPHD).Then,the common bile duct(CBD)is formed when the cystic duct joins with the CHD(Fig.1).Type A2 refers to the RAHD and RPHD joining with LHD at hepatic hilum,and the absence of the *** A3 refers to the RAHD or RPHD directly draining to the *** A4 refers to the RAHD or RPHD directly draining to the *** A5 refers to the RAHD,RPHD or RHD directly draining to the cystic duct(or aberrant bile duct communicating with the cystic duct,ACC)(Fig.1)[1].

Subdiaphragmatic abscess is uncommon in patients who undergo resection for hepatocellular *** identifi cation of pathogens and appropriate treatment can be challenging.[1]Herein,we present a case of subdiaphragmatic abscess caused by Cutibacterium modestum.A 66-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with fever,cough,and persistent,dull pain in the right upper quadrant for two *** patient’s medical history included liver cirrhosis,radical resection of hepatocellular carcinoma three months prior to admission,and type 2 diabetes *** examination revealed tachycardia with small moist rales in the right lower *** examination revealed an L-shaped,well-healed surgical incision in the right upper quadrant without intra-abdominal mass or tenderness.

The Meso-Rex bypass(MRB)is recognized as an effective treatment for portal hypertension secondary to extrahepatic portal vein occlusion(EHPVO)both in the pediatric and adult population,within or outside the context of liver *** is the preferred surgical treatment in most centers because not only does it addresses the portal hypertension,but also restores physiologic portal hepatopetal ***,the Rex recess,the landmark for this technique,may not be safely accessible in some *** present a 22-year-old male who underwent living donor liver transplant(LDLT)for neonatal *** presented with variceal bleeding due to EHPVO at 13 years after *** endoscopic,radiologic,and surgical interventions were employed to address the recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding,but results have been *** performed a meso-intrahepatic portal vein bypass(MIPVB),an innovative alternative to the MRB,for this patient with extensive post-operative adhesions,perihilar collaterals,and cavernous *** creation in patients where the Rex recess is inaccessible is technically *** with a multidisciplinary team approach,meticulous preoperative planning,and close follow-up,the authors have demonstrated that it is a safe and feasible option for patients with late-onset EHPVO after liver transplantation.

Transcriptional dysregulation of genes is a hallmark of tumors and can serve as targets for cancer drug ***,it is extremely challenging to develop small-molecule inhibitors to target abnormally expressed transcription factors(TFs)except for the nuclear receptor family of *** is known about the interaction between TFs and transcription cofactors in gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma(GEA)or the therapeutic effects of targeting TF and transcription cofactor *** this study,we found that ETS homologous factor(EHF)expression is promoted by a core transcriptional regulatory circuitry(CRC),specifically ELF3-KLF5-GATA6,and interference with its expression suppressed the malignant biological behavior of GEA ***,we identified Ajuba LIM protein(AJUBA)as a new coactivator of EHF that cooperatively orchestrates transcriptional network activity in ***,we identified KRAS signaling as a common pathway downstream of EHF and ***,dual targeting of EHF and AJUBA by lipid nanoparticles cooperatively attenuated the malignant biological behaviors of GEA in vitro and in *** conclusion,EHF is upregulated by the CRC and promotes GEA malignancy by interacting with AJUBA through the KRAS *** of both EHF and its coactivator AJUBA through lipid nanoparticles is a novel potential therapeutic strategy.

Background:Liver retransplant is the only option to save a patient with liver graft ***,it is controversial due to its poor survival outcome compared to primary *** deceased organ donation in Taiwan leads to high waitlist ***,living-donor grafts offer a valuable alternative for *** study aims to analyze the single center’s outcome in living donor liver retransplantation(re-LDLT)and deceased donor liver retransplantation(re-DDLT)as well as the survival related confounding risk ***:This is a single center retrospective study including 32 adults who underwent liver retransplantation(re-LT)from June 2002 to April *** cohort was divided into a re-LDLT and a re-DDLT group and survival outcomes were *** outcomes over different periods,the effect of timing on survival,and multivariate analysis for risk factors were also demonstrated Results:Of the 32 retransplantations,the re-LDLT group(n=11)received grafts from younger donors(31.3 vs.43.75 years,P=0.016),with lower graft weights(688 vs.1,457.2 g,P<0.001)and shorter cold ischemia time(CIT)(45 vs.313 min,P<0.001).The 5-year survival was significantly better in the re-LDLT group than in the re-DDLT group(100%vs.70.8%,P=0.02).This difference was adjusted when only retransplantation after 2010 was *** analysis showed that the timing of retransplantation(early ***)did not affect patient *** analysis revealed that prolonged warm ischemia time(WIT)and intraoperative blood transfusion were related to poor long-term ***:Retransplantation with living donor graft demonstrated good long-term outcomes with acceptable complications to both recipient and *** may serve as a choice in areas lacking deceased *** timing of retransplantation did not affect the long-term *** effort should be made to reduce WIT and massive blood transfusion as they contributed to poor survi
