Vacuum hot roll bonding （VHRB） was used to bond pure titanium （Ti） plate to a 304 stainless steel （SS） plate with a niobium （Nb） interlayer, with the aim of producing a high-quality Ti-SS clad plate. The roll-bonding process was performed at different temperatures in the range of 850-1000℃, followed by characterization of microstructure and mechanical properties. The study demonstrates that the interfaces are free from cracks and disco.tinuities, and interdiffusion between the stainless steel and the titanium is effectively prevented by inserting a layer of pure Nb foil. No intermetallic reaction layer occurred at the Nb-Ti interface at any of the investigated temperatures. An intermetallic FeNb phase was formed at the Nb-SS interface when bonding was performed at 950 ℃ and above. The presence of the FeNb layer was co.firmed by x-ray diffraction. The maximum shear strength of -396 MPa was obtained when bonding is carried out at 900 ℃. However, the formation of the FeNb layer at roll bonding temperature greater than 900 ℃ led to decrease in shear strength. Ductile fracture occurred through the Ti-Nb interface for roll-bonded temperatures of up to 900 ℃. On the other hand, at temperature of 950℃ and above, failure occurred through the Nb-SS interface, with brittle fracture characteristics.

The Chinese Bayan Obo deposit is a world-class rare earth element(REE) deposit with co.siderable niobium(Nb) and iron(Fe) resources. A co.plete genetic understanding on all metals is fundamental for establishing genetic models at Bayan Obo. With extensive research being focused on REE enrichment, the timing and co.trols of Nb enrichment remain unresolved at Bayan Obo, which is mainly due to the challenges in dating, i.e. multistage thermal events, fine-grained minerals with co.plex textures and the rare occurrence of uranium-enriched minerals with mature dating methods. Based on robust geological and petrographic frameworks, here we co.ducted ion probe uranium-lead(U-Pb) dating of ferroco.umbite to unravel the timing, hence the genesis of Nb mineralization. Three types of hydrothermal ferroco.umbites—key Nb-bearing minerals—are identified based on their textures and mineral assemblages. They yield U-Pb ages of 1312 ± 47 Ma(n = 99), 438 ± 7 Ma(n = 93), and 268 ± 5 Ma(n = 19), respectively. In line with deposit geology, we tentatively link the first, seco.d and third stage Nb mineralization to Mesoproterozoic carbonatite magmatism, ubiquitous early Paleozoic hydrothermal activity, and Permian granitic magmatism, respectively. While quantifying the co.tribution of metal endowment from each stage requires further investigation, our new dates highlight that multi-stage mineralization is critical for Nb enrichment at Bayan Obo, which may also have implications for the enrichment mechanism of Nb in REE deposits in general.

At high temperature,the chemical reaction mechanism at the interface of magnetite and the influence mechanism of gangue element Al on the oxidation performance of magnetite are not *** addition,due to the limitation of existing experimental equipment,it is difficult to clarify the interface reaction mechanism in the oxidation process and the influence mechanism of Al on the surface oxidation reaction of Fe_(3)O_(4) at an atomic scale at high *** surface oxidation reaction mechanism of magnetite and the influence mechanism of Al on the oxidation of magnetite were studied by experiments and AIMD(ab initio molecular dynamics).The experimental results show that the existence of Al_(2)O_(3) will reduce the initial oxidation temperature and co.prehensive oxidation performance of *** AIMD results show that aluminum can accelerate the interface reaction rate of Fe_(3)O_(4) in the high-temperature oxidation atmosphere,but the strong Al-O binding ability is not co.ducive to the transfer of O atoms in the oxidation process.

Preparation of spherical tungsten and titanium powders by RF induction plasma processing

Spherical tungsten and titanium powders were prepared by radio frequency inductively co.pled plasma torch with irregular shaped tungsten and titanium hydride （TiH2） powders, respectively. The effect of the feed rate on spheroidization efficiency was investigated. The phase co.position, oxygen co.tent, morphology, and particle size distribution of the powders before and after spheroidization were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, nitrogen/oxygen analyzer, scanning electron microsco.y （SEM）, and laser micron sizer （LMS）. The results show that both kinds of plasma-processed powders have good dispersity, smooth surface, and single phase. A maximum of 100 % of spheroidization efficiency can be achieved at a lower feed rate. The spherical titanium powder obtained by the plasma treatment co.sists of particles with mean diameter of 33.34 gin, while the mean diameter of ori- ginal Till2 powder is 136.56 μm. The apparent density and flowability of the spherical tungsten powder are 6.3 ***-3 and 0.16 s.g-1, respectively. The apparent density and flowability of the spherical titanium powder are 2.8 ***-3 and 0.52 s.g-1, respectively. With the increase of the feed rate, the sphemidization efficiency of raw powders drops gradually.

Refractories have an important effect on the cleanliness of molten *** interaction between CeAlO_(3) refractories and Ce treated steel was explored and co.pared with that between Al_(2)O_(3) refractories and Ce treated *** results show that the Ce co.tent in steel decreases sharply after co.tact with Al_(2)O_(3) refractories and the pick-up of dissolved Al *** with the test of Al_(2)O_(3) refractories,the loss of Ce co.tent is less in the test of CeAlO_(3) refractory,and the total oxygen co.tent and dissolved Al co.tent in steel increase *** dense and co.tinuous Ce_(2)O_(2)S interface layer is observed at the CeAlO_(3) refractories/steel interface,which can serve as the metallurgical isolation layer and hinder the further interaction between refractories and ***,the higher steel cleanliness and less penetration of refractories by molten steel are obtained in the test of CeAlO_(3) *** CeAlO_(3) refractories show a promising prospect in the production of clean Ce treated steel.
