The variations of the frontogenetic trend of a cold filament induced by the cross-filament wind and wave fields are studied by a non-hydrostatic large eddy simulation. Five cases with different strengths of wind and wave fields are studied.The results show that the intense wind and wave fields further break the symmetries of submesoscale flow fields and suppress the levels of filament frontogenesis. The changes of secondary circulation directions—that is, the conversion between the convergence and divergence of the surface cross-filament currents with the downwelling and upwelling jets in the filament center—are associated with the inertial oscillation. The filament frontogenesis and frontolysis caused by the changes of secondary circulation directions may periodically sharpen and smooth the gradient of submesoscale flow fields.The lifecycle of the cold filament may include multiple stages of filament frontogenesis and frontolysis.

In the present study, we investigated the induction of volatile organic compounds （VOCs） of Lycoperslcon esculentum Mill. and its resistance to Botrytis cinerea Pers. by burdock oligosaccharlde. The disease severity of L. esculentum was evaluated 48 h after treatment with 0.6% burdock oligosaccharlde, followed by inoculation with a spore suspension of B. cinerea. The formation of O2＇, the activity of lipoxygenases （LOX）, peroxidase （POD）, cataiase （CAT）, and superoxide dismutase （SOD）, and the quantity and quallty of changes In VOCs were determined a period of time after treatment with 0.6% burdock ollgosaccharide. The results demonstrated that the disease index in treated plants was decreased by 42.5% compared with control 96 h after Inoculation. The production of O2＇ reached a maximum 6 h after treatment （1.36-fold compared with control）. There was an increase in LOX, POD, CAT and SOD activity in response to burdock oligosaccharide treatment and the enzymes showed different trends in the time-course of induction. At 120 h after treatment, （E）-2-hexenal was increased by 92% compared with control, whereas methyl salicylate showed a gradual Increase with induction period. Previous results had demonstrated that chitosan elicitor enhanced the production VOCs of L. esculentum and decreased plant susceptibility towards B. clnerea. Together, these findings suggest that increasing the production of VOCs in response to burrdock oligosaccharide may be an important mechanism for L. esculentumin its defense against pathogens, in addition, burrdock oligosaccharlde may act as a potent elicitor of resistance to disease in L. esculentum.

The martensitic transformation in Co37Ni34Al29 ribbon is characterized in detail by means of in-situ thermostatic x-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements.The results show a structural transition from the body-centred cubic to martensite with a tetragonal structure during cooling.Comparison between the results of the diffraction intensity with the magnetic susceptibility measurements indicates that the martensitic transformation takes place in several different steps during cooling from 273 to 163 K.During heating from 313 to 873 K,the peak width becomes very wide and the intensity turns very low.The γ-phase （face-centred cubic structure） emerges and increases gradually with temperature increasing from 873 to 1073 K.

Large size,high-density(99.97%)and well-organized Al2O3/Y3Al5O12(YAG)eutectic ceramics were prepared by the modified Bridgman method.The evolution of the three dimensional microstructure and micropores were investigated.The diameter of the micro-pores and the porosity decreased during directional solidification.The average equivalent diam eter of the micro-pores was 2.41μm in the well-prepared eutectic ceramics.Most of the pores(98.07%)were smaller than 4μm.These data are comparable to those prepared by the optical floating zone method.The as-grown eutectic ceramics were polycrystalline,but the interfaces were well-bonded and there were no amorphous phases in the microstructure.The misfits of the different crystallographic relationships were calculated,and the bottleneck of the single-crystal preparation was identified.These results could provide theoretical guidance for the preparation of large,single-crystal Al2O3/YAG eutectic ceramics by the modified Bridgman method.

Metal-catalyzed ethylene homopolymerization and ethylene-polar monomer copolymerization to produce new kinds of polyolefins with novel microstructures are of great interest. So far, there are some disadvantages for traditional transition metal catalyst systems. Therefore, it is critical to develop new catalysts or alternative strategies. In recent years, some cationic [P, O] palladium complexes have been demonstrated with the abilities to obtain oligomers and the high molecular weight polymers. Most importantly, these complexes showed high activity and generated polymers with specific microstructures when used for copolymerization of ethylene with industrially relevant polar monomers. This review summarizes several types of high performance cationic [P, O] palladium catalysts in ethylene oligomerization, ethylene homopolymerization and the copolymerization of ethylene with polar monomers Specially, the regulation of steric and electronic effects at specific sites of the metal complexes was focused.

AIM: To examine the effects of Kampo medicine, Keishi-ka-Shakuyaku-to (TJ-60) on the signal transduction in diabetic gastrointestinal dysfunction. METHODS: Experimental diabetic models were prepared using streptozotocin (STZ)-treated Wistar rats. Randomly selected STZ rats were treated with insulin (12 U·kg-1·d-1) or TJ-60 (1% of food intake). Diacylglycerol (DG) and DG kinase activities were quantified in isolated aortic smooth muscle tissue. RESULTS: One of the key element of the Pi-turnover, DG kinase activity in resting state in gastric smooth muscle was significantly increased compared to the control value, and carbachol (CCh)-induced response was not detectable, but it was detected in the control rats. On the other hand resting activity in ileum did not differ from the control, but the CCh-induced responses were suppressed. OBJECTIVE: To assess the toxicity of moxa smoke in rats.METHODS: Forty-eight female Wister rats were randomly divided into 4 groups(n = 12/group) to simulate moxa smoke exposure in Chinese medicine clinics(CMCs): the control group, and three moxa-smoke exposed groups of PM10 mass concentrations 3-5, 7-9 and 27-30 mg/m^3, respectively.These concentrations were 1 ×, 2-3 ×, and 7-9 ×fold the concentrations found in CMCs. Exposures continued for 12 weeks(200 min/d, 5 d/week).RESULTS: No deaths were noted. After the exposure, the body weights, ratios of organ weight to body weight, urinary parameters, hematological parameters, clinical chemistry parameters and microscopic examinations revealed no obvious toxicity.CONCLUSION: Moxa smoke did not induce toxic effects in female rats in the study. These findings provide new evidence to the toxicity of moxa smoke.

Effects of dietary supplementation with fructooligosaccharides on the excretion of nitrogen and phosphorus in Miichthys miiuy fries were investigated. Nine hundred Miichthys miiuy fries were divided into 3 groups, each with triplicates. The basal diet and the basal diet supplemented with carnitine groups were considered as the negative and positive controls respectively. Results showed that the nitrogen concentration in excreted feces decreased significantly in fries fed the diet supplementation with 1000×10?6 fructooligosaccharides and 200×10?6 carnitine (P<0.05). The ammonic-nitrogen concentration decreased significantly in the carnitine group only (P<0.05), indicating the decreasing tendency caused by the supplementation with fructooligosaccha-rides. Supplementation with both did not have significant effects on the concentration of phosphorus in feces of Miichthys miiuy fries.
