Functional outcome of surgical management of low mid-grade lumbar spondylolisthesis when considering the sagittal balance parameters preoperatively:a prospective study

Background:Prospective study objectives.A sagittal balance is a good tool to improve the functional outcome of spine spondylolisthesis surgeries,primarily noted that it has a good impact in deformity surgery and then applied to every spine surgery and the aim of this study is to evaluate its functional outcome when considered in preoperative planning for non-dysplastic low-and mid-grade spondylolisthesis ***:Forty patients diagnosed as low-or mid-grade non-dysplastic spondylolisthesis had undergone surgery at Cairo University after failed medical treatment had been evaluated preoperatively by measuring the sagittal balance parameters which include SVA,spinopelvic angles,lumbar lordosis,pelvic tilt,sacral slope,and pelvic incidence and then measure it along a follow-up period of 1 year postoperatively started from February 2018 and correlate it with functional outcome using Oswestry score(ODI)and *** of parameters has been estimated preoperatively by manual estimation and Surgimap application then applied during the ***:all patients were treated by surgical treatment through posterior transpedicular screw fixation with conventional or reduction screws and fusion±TLIF *** mean of lumbar lordosis and mean spinopelvic angles were increased in a statistically significant *** tilt was decreased in a statistically insignificant *** mean of pelvic incidence was not changed and statistically insignificant,and this is matching the fact that pelvic incidence is a constant *** sacral slope was increased in a statistically insignificant *** results showed that 37 had a statistically significant improvement in their ODI>20%at the last *** patients had a poor clinical outcome with ODI scorFinal results showed that 37 had a statistically significant improvement in their ODI>20%at the last *** patients had a poor clinical outcome with ODI score of>20%improvement,and we noticed that the le

BACKGROUND Constipation is a common problem in children and a frequent cause of hospital visit in both primary&specialized care,which needs proper evaluation&*** of constipation is variable among *** Bangladesh there has been no published data regarding constipation in community among school aged *** To determine the magnitude of functional constipation and its risk factors in community among Bangladeshi school *** This descriptive cross sectional study was conducted in different schools of Dhaka division,*** school aged children between 5-16 years of age who attended school were included in this *** were collected *** clinical history&physical examinations(without digital rectal examination)&available investigations(if done previously)were *** of functional constipation was done by Rome IV criteria and was compared with children without *** with any red flag sign,known chronic disease or any findings suggestive of organic disease and on treatment of constipation were *** analysis of the results was done by using Windows based software device with Statistical Packages for Social Science *** all statistical tests,P value of less than 0.05 was considered as statistically *** Total study populations were 707 and male was 443 and female *** them,134(19%)children had *** constipated children,78 children fulfilled the Rome IV criteria for functional constipation and it was 11%of total *** age of children having functional constipation was 11.24±3.54 years and Male female ratio was 1:***,nausea,abdominal pain,hard stool,blood with hard stool,alternate hard and loose stool and fecal mass in left iliac fossa were analyzed between two group and all were significantly higher in children with functional constipation *** of school,where toilet numbers were inadequate had 2.5 time

BACKGROUND Upper gastrointestinal bleeding(UGIB)is defined as bleeding that occurs proximal to the ligament of Treitz and can sometimes lead to potentially serious and life-threatening clinical situations in ***,the cause of UGIB differs significantly depending on the geographic location,patient population and presence of comorbid *** To observe endoscopic findings of UGIB in children at a tertiary care center of *** This retrospective study was carried out in the department of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition of Bangabandhu shiekh Mujib Medical University,a tertiary care hospital of Bangladesh,between January 2017 and January *** collected from hospital records of 100 children who were 16 years of age or younger,came with hematemesis,melena or both hematemesis and *** patients underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy(Olympus CV 1000 upper gastrointestinal video endoscope)after initial *** investigations to diagnose portal hypertension and chronic liver disease with underlying causes for management purposes were also *** A total of 100 patients were *** was common in the age group 5-10 years(42%),followed by above 10 years(37%).Hematemesis was the most common presenting symptom(75%)followed by both hematemesis and melena(25%).UGIB from ruptured esophageal varices was the most common cause(65%)on UGI endoscopy followed by gastric erosion(5%)and prolapsed gastropathy(2%).We observed that 23%of children were normal after endoscopic *** Ruptured esophageal varices were the most common cause of UGIB in children in *** causes included gastric erosions and prolapsed gastropathy syndrome.
