The effects of exercise interventions on brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in children and adolescents:a meta-analysis

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor is a crucial neurotrophic factor that plays a significant role in brain health. Although the vast majority of meta-analyses have confirmed that exercise interventions can increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in children and adolescents, the effects of specific types of exercise on brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels are still controversial. To address this issue, we used meta-analytic methods to quantitatively evaluate, analyze, and integrate relevant studies. Our goals were to formulate general conclusions regarding the use of exercise interventions, explore the physiological mechanisms by which exercise improves brain health and cognitive ability in children and adolescents, and provide a reliable foundation for follow-up research. We used the Pub Med, Web of Science, Science Direct, Springer, Wiley Online Library, Weipu, Wanfang, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases to search for randomized controlled trials examining the influences of exercise interventions on brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in children and adolescents. The extracted data were analyzed using Review Manager 5.3. According to the inclusion criteria, we assessed randomized controlled trials in which the samples were mainly children and adolescents, and the outcome indicators were measured before and after the intervention. We excluded animal experiments, studies that lacked a control group, and those that did not report quantitative results. The mean difference(MD;before versus after intervention) was used to evaluate the effect of exercise on brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in children and adolescents. Overall, 531 participants(60 children and 471 adolescents, 10.9–16.1 years) were included from 13 randomized controlled trials. Heterogeneity was evaluated using the Q statistic and I^(2) test provided by Review Manager software. The meta-analysis showed that there was no heterogeneity among the studies(P = 0.67,

The minimal measurement number for generalized conjugate phase retrieval

Improved RIP-based bounds for guaranteed performance of two compressed sensing algorithms

G3DC: A Gene-Graph-Guided Selective Deep Clustering Method for Single Cell RNA-seq data

Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology measures the expression of thousands of genes at the cellular level. Analyzing single-cell transcriptome allows the identification of heterogeneous cell groups, cellular-level regulations, and the trajectory of cell development. An important aspect in the analyses of scRNA-seq data is the clustering of cells, which is hampered by issues, such as high dimensionality, cell type imbalance, redundancy, and dropout. Given cells of each type are functionally consistent, incorporating biological relations among genes may improve the clustering results. In light of this, we have developed a deep-embedded clustering method, G3DC. This method combines a graph regularization based on the pre-existing gene network and a feature selector based on the l(2,1) -norm regularization, along with a reconstruction loss, to generate a discriminatory and informative embedding. Utilizing the gene interaction network bolsters the clustering performance and aids in selecting functionally coherent genes, consequently enriching the clustering results. Extensive experiments have shown that G3DC offers high clustering accuracy with regard to agreement with true cell types, outperforming other leading single-cell clustering methods. In addition, G3DC selects biologically relevant genes that contribute to the clustering, providing insight into biological functionality that differentiates cell groups.

BGNN: Behavior-aware graph neural network for heterogeneous session-based recommendation

Optimal Network Function Virtualization and Service Function Chaining:A Survey

Network function virtualization(NFV) and Service function chaining(SFC) can fulfill the traditional network functions by simply running special softwares on general-purpose computer servers and switches. This not only provides significantly more agility and flexibility in network service deployment, but can also greatly reduce the capital and operating cost of networks. In this paper,a comprehensive survey on the motivations and state of the art efforts towards implementing the NFV and SFC is provided. In particular, the paper first presents the main concepts of these new emerging technologies; then discusses in details various stages of SFC, including the description, composition, placement and scheduling of service chains. Afterwards, existing approaches to SFC are reviewed according to their application environments, parameters used, and solution strategies. Finally, the paper points out a number of future research directions.

Order Timing for Manufacturers with Spot Purchasing Price Uncertainty and Demand Information Updating

In this paper we study the competitive order timing decisions of two manufacturers with demand forecasting updating and uncertain raw material *** can order the raw materials early when the market is highly uncertain with a fixed wholesale price(Contract procurement)or late when the market is less uncertain with an uncertain raw material price(Spot trading).Different from most existing literature,we assume the spot price and the market demand is *** find that in the monopoly setting the manufacturer prefers the contract procurement to the spot trading when the unit wholesale price for the contract procurement is not greater than the expected unit spot price of the raw *** the duopoly setting,we characterize the equilibria of a strategic order timing game in which manufacturers choose when to buy the raw *** find that when the demand during the contract procurement stage and the spot price uncertainty is small both manufacturers prefer the contract procurement strategy and when the demand during the contract procurement stage and the spot price uncertainty is large both manufacturers prefer the spot *** the demand during the contract procurement stage and the spot price uncertainty is high and purchase costs do not decline too severely over time,the unique equilibrium of this game is that one manufacturer chooses contract procurement to order early and the other chooses spot trading to order ***,we find that the correlation of spot purchasing price and the market demand signal during the contract procurement stage will weaken the advantages of spot trading *** the spot purchasing price and the market demand signal during the contract procurement stage are not correlated,manufacturers prefer spot trading under the highly volatile spot trading price,fluctuating demand,and high information precision.
