Unraveling the role of NiSnPH@OOH/CC perovskite hydroxide for efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol to formate

The sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the key tailback for hydrogen production from the water *** OER with thermodynamically auspicious methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)can significantly boost the H_(2) and value-added products ***,it is currently challenging to achieve a synergistic manipulation of product selectivity and performance for MOR ***,we report NiSnPH@OOH/CC(CC=carbon cloth)perovskite hydroxide nanosphere as an efficient MOR electrocatalyst with high activity,stability,and selectivity towards methanol oxidation to formate.A surface amorphous layer of defect rich NiOOH was generated in operando by selective Sn leaching with stable perovskite hydroxide bulk structure,which mitigates the oxidative power and optimizes the local coordination environment of the active NiOOH *** situ Raman combined with electrochemical studies further confirm the key active species,NiOOH,generated in operando enhance the MOR and blocking the over oxidation of methanol to CO_(2).As a result,NiSnPH@OOH/CC effectively masks the OER and attains>99%selectivity with 100%Faradic efficiency for *** results of this study show the advances of NiSnPH@OOH/CC as an efficient electrocatalyst for MOR and also suggest its potential applications for various small organic molecules oxidation.

An experimental study on the quasi-neutral beam extracted by a neutralizer-free gridded ion thruster prototype was *** prototype was designed using an inductively coupled plasma source terminated by a double-grid *** beam characteristics were compared when the accelerator was radio-frequency(RF)biased and direct-current(DC)*** RF power supply was applied to the screen grid via a blocking capacitor for the RF acceleration,and a DC power supply was directly connected to the screen grid for the DC *** was used as the propellant ***,the characteristics of the plasma beam,such as the floating potential,the spatial distribution of ion flux,and the ion energy distribution function(IEDF)were measured by a four-grid retarding field energy *** floating potential results showed that the beam space charge is compensated in the case of RF acceleration without a neutralizer,which is similar to the case of classical DC acceleration with a *** ion flux of RF acceleration is 1.17 times higher than that of DC acceleration under the same DC component voltage between the ***,there are significant differences in the beam IEDFs for RF and DC *** IEDF of RF acceleration has a widened and multipeaked profile,and the main peak moves toward the high-energy region with increasing the DC self-bias *** addition,by comparing the IEDFs with RF acceleration frequencies of3.9 and 7.8 MHz,it is found that the IEDF has a more centered main peak and a narrower energy spread at a higher frequency.

Recently,multivalent metal-ion batteries have attracted considerable interests on the merits of their natural abundance and multielectron redox ***,the development of Ca-ion battery is still in their preliminary stage because of the lack of suitable electrode *** Ca-storage performance of the existing materials is still unsatisfactory with low capacity,poor cyclic stability,as well as sloping discharge profiles,which cannot provide stable energy *** this work,transition metal oxide Sn-doped In2O3(ITO)has been explored as the aqueous Ca-ion battery anode,which could deliver a high discharge capacity of 71.2 mAh·g^(-1) with an ultra-flat discharge voltage *** Ca storage mechanism was revealed to be reversible conversion reaction based on ex-situ X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)characterizations.A flexible aqueous Ca-ion battery was subsequently assembled with zinc hexacyanoferrate(ZnHCF)cathode and ITO anode sandwiched by hydrogel electrolyte,which could deliver a high specific capacity of 75.3 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.4 A·g^(-1) with a flat output voltage plateau at around 0.8 *** bendable and flexible Ca-ion battery with decent voltage output will pave the way for the energy storage devices towards practical applications in flexible and wearable electronics.

With high flexibility and slim body,flexible robots have been widely used in minimally invasive surgery because they can safely reach the lesion deep inside the human body through small incisions or natural ***,high stiffness of robot body is also required for transferring force and maintaining the motion *** meet these two contradictory requirements,various methods have been implemented to enable adjustable stiffness for flexible surgical *** this review,we first summarize the anatomic constraints of common natural tracts of human body to provide a guidance for the design of variable stiffness flexible *** then,the variable stiffness methods have been categorized based on their basic principles of varying the *** the end,two variable stiffness methods with great potential and the moving strategy of variable stiffness flexible robots are discussed.

For anode-free lithium metal battery,lithiophilic surface modification on the current collector can effectively reduce the lithium nucleation barrier,so as to regulate the electrodeposition of ***,atomically dispersed Zn-(C/N/O)lithiophilic sites in the amorphous carbon medium were introduced onto Cu by an in-situ induced ion coordination chemistry strategy to get the modified Zn@NC@RGO@Cu current collector.X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)combined with scanning transmission electron microscopy in high angle annular dark field(STEM-HAADF)analysis proved the single atomic state of the zinc sites surrounded by C,N,and O with a coordination number of~*** to the electrochemical tests and first principle calculations,the ultra-uniformly dispersed Zn-(C/N/O)sites at the atomic level can effectively improve the lithium affinity,reduce the energy barrier for lithium nucleation,homogenize the lithium nucleation,and enhance an inorganic lithium compounds rich solid electrolyte interphase *** a result,the nucleation overpotential of lithium on the modified current collector was reduced to 7.7 mV,which was 5.4 times lower than that on bare *** lithium nucleation and deposition enabled stable Li plating/stripping and elevated Coulombic efficiency of 98.95%in Li||Cu cell after>850 *** retention of 89.7%was successfully achieved in the anode-free lithium metal battery after 100 cycles.

In the emerging sixth generation(6G)communication network,energy harvesting(EH)is a promising technology to achieve the unlimited energy supply and hence makes the wireless communication systems self-sustainable in terms of ***,in practice,the efficiency of energy harvesting is often low due to the limited device *** this paper,we formulate three types of different EH architectures,i.e.,the harvest-use architecture,the harvest-store-use architecture,and the harvest-use-store architecture from the perspective of energy storage *** propose resource allocation schemes to jointly design the sensor power and duty-cycle via an alternating optimization algorithm under the above EH architectures,in both simultaneous and non-simultaneous harvesting and utilization models,aiming at achieving a higher throughput and energy ***-ideal circuit power is also *** results show that our proposed schemes under EH architectures outperform the existing classic continuous transmission schemes.

Nature has provided us the assurance and inspiration for thousands of years in synthesizing value-added chemicals,with the assistance of reactive hydrogen species,and water as the ultimate hydrogen ***,the natural photosynthesis is inefficient due to some intrinsic properties,urging people not only to learn from but also surpass during nature *** this review,we summarized recent progresses on reactive hydrogen species-assisted nanocatalytic reduction of organic molecules towards value-added fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals,with water as the hydrogen source,and especially highlighted how photocatalytically or electrocatalytically evolved reactive hydrogen species synergize with biocatalytic centers and nanocatalytic sites for reduction of organic *** design principles of collaborative semi-artificial systems and nanocatalytic artificial systems,the structure tuning of catalysts for the evolution and utilization of hydrogen species,and the determination of reactive hydrogen species for mechanistic insights were discussed in ***,perspectives were provided for further advancing this emerging area of nanocatalytic reduction of organic molecules from water(or proton)and organics.

Recently,waterproof lighting and luminescent displays have been achieved in perovskite–polymer composite ***,practical large-area display applications are still limited to the strong electrostatic adhesion(EA)and high *** overcome these deficiencies,large-area(~600 cm2)homogeneous perovskite–polymer fiber membranes(PPFMs)are synthesized by an electrospinning strategy in this *** to the microscopic cladding of the hydrophobic polymer fibers,the electrospun PPFMs exhibit ultrastable underwater luminescence for more than 90 days,and strong EA to diverse materials without pretreatments or additional ***,by utilizing a proposed programmable laser lithography strategy,designed PPFM patterns are fabricated as the assembly blocks of large-area colorful or tridimensional ***,due to laser thermal ablation effects,the disengaged edges of these blocks are self-stitched with high mechanical stability and *** work provides a simple and effective strategy to realize waterproof,self-adhesive,and large-area display applications of perovskite nanomaterials in real world settings.

Realizing high performance in both n-type and p-type materials is essential for designing efficient ther-moelectric ***,the doping bottleneck is often encountered,i.e.,only one type of conduction can be *** one example,p-type CdSb with high thermoelectric performance has been discovered for several decades,while its n-type counterpart has rarely been *** this work,the calculated band structure of CdSb demonstrates that the valley degeneracy is as large as ten for the conduction band,and it is only two for the valence ***,the n-type CdSb can potentially realize an ex-ceptional thermoelectric ***,the n-type conduction has been successfully real-ized by tuning the stoichiometry of *** further doping indium at the Cd site,an improved room-temperature electron concentration has been *** modeling predicts an optimal electron con-centration of∼2.0×1019 cm−3,which is higher than the current experimental ***,future optimization of the n-type CdSb should mainly focus on identifying practical approaches to optimize the electron concentration.
