Transfer active learning, which is an emerging learning paradigm, aims to actively select informative instances with the aid of transferred knowledge from related tasks. Recently, several studies have addressed this problem. However, how to handle the distributional differences betwee n the source and target domains remains an open problem. In this paper, a novel transfer active learning algorithm is proposed, inspired by the classical query by committee algorithm. Diverse committee members from both domains are maintained to improve the classification accuracy and a mechanism is included to evaluate each member during the iterations. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real datasets show that our algorithm performs better and is also more robust than the state-of-the-art methods.

China is now confronting the intertwined challenges of air pollution and climate *** the high synergies between air pollution abatement and climate change mitigation,the Chinese government is actively promoting synergetic control of these two *** Synergetic Roadmap project was launched in 2021 to track and analyze the progress of synergetic control in China by developing and monitoring key *** Synergetic Roadmap 2022 report is the first annual update,featuring 20 indicators across five aspects:synergetic governance system and practices,progress in structural transition,air pollution and associated weather-climate interactions,sources,sinks,and mitigation pathway of atmospheric composition,and health impacts and benefits of coordinated *** to the comprehensive review presented in the 2021 report,the Synergetic Roadmap 2022 report places particular emphasis on progress in 2021 with highlights on actions in key sectors and the relevant *** milestones include the proportion of non-fossil power generation capacity surpassing coal-fired capacity for the first time,a decline in the production of crude steel and cement after years of growth,and the surging penetration of electric ***,in 2022,China issued the first national policy that synergizes abatements of pollution and carbon emissions,marking a new era for China's pollution-carbon *** changes highlight China's efforts to reshape its energy,economic,and transportation structures to meet the demand for synergetic control and sustainable ***,the country has witnessed a slowdown in carbon emission growth,improved air quality,and increased health benefits in recent years.

We consider a longitudinal data additive varying coefficient regression model, in which the coef- ficients of some factors （covariates） are additive functions of other factors, so that the interactions between different factors can be taken into account effectively. By considering within-subject correlation among repeated measurements over time and additive structure, we propose a feasible weighted two-stage local quasi-likelihood estimation. In the first stage, we construct initial estimators of the additive component functions by B-spline se- ries approximation. With the initial estimators, we transform the additive varying coefficients regression model into a varying coefficients regression model and further apply the local weighted quasi-likelihood method to estimate the varying coefficient functions in the second stage. The resulting second stage estimators are com- putationally expedient and intuitively appealing. They also have the advantages of higher asymptotic efficiency than those neglecting the correlation structure, and an oracle property in the sense that the asymptotic property of each additive component is the same as if the other components were known with certainty. Simulation studies are conducted to demonstrate finite sample behaviors of the proposed estimators, and a real data example is given to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed methodology.

The Box-Cox transformation model has been widely used in applied econometrics, positive accounting, positive finance and statistics. There is a large literature on Box-Cox transformation model with linear structure. However, there is seldom seen on the discussion for such a model with partially linear structure. Considering the importance of the partially linear model, in this paper, a relatively simple semi-parametric estimation procedure is proposed for the Box-Cox transformation model without presuming the linear functional form and without specifying any parametric form of the disturbance, which largely reduces the risk of model misspecification. We show that the proposed estimator is consistent and asymptotically normally distributed. Its covariance matrix is also in a closed form, which can be easily estimated. Finally, a simulation study is conducted to see the finite sample performance of our estimator.

IMPROVED PMHSS ITERATION METHODS FOR COMPLEX SYMMETRIC LINEAR SYSTEMS

Based on the preconditioned modified Hermitian and skew-Hermitian splitting (PMHSS) iteration method for the complex symmetrie linear system, two improved iterative methods, namely, the modified PMHSS (MPMHSS) method and the double modified PMHSS (DMPMHSS) method, are proposed in this paper. The spectra] radii of the iteration matrices of two methods are given. We show that by choosing an appropriate parameter, MPMHSS could speed up the convergence on PMHSS. The DMPMHSS method is a four-step alternating iteration that is developed upon the two-step alternating iteration of MPMHSS. We discuss the choice of the parameters and establish the convergence of DMPMHSS. In particular, we give an analysis of the spectral radius of PMHSS and DMPMHSS at the parameter free situation, and we show that DMPMHSS converges faster than PMHSS in most cases. Our numerical experiments show these points.
