Iron is a crucial micronutrient, and its deficiency can have detrimental effects on the health of infants. Dietary polysaccharide-iron(Ⅲ) co.plexes(PICs) are promising for addressing iron deficiency due to their minimal adverse reactions and high iron absorption rate. This study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary Enteromorpha prolifera polysaccharide-Fe(Ⅲ) co.plex(EP-Fe) on newborns, using 3-day weaned piglets as the iron-deficiency model. Results showed that EP-Fe improved iron levels and promoted intestinal development in piglets. Transcriptome sequencing revealed that EP-Fe increased the survival of intestinal epithelial cells under hypoxia by upregulating the expression of genes that promote the development of the vascular system. Additionally, EP-Fe enhanced the muco.al barrier functions by inhibiting myosin light chain kinase(MLCK)/phosphorylated myosin light chain(p-MLC) signaling pathway to increase the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins. Furthermore, the 16S r RNA gene sequencing of gut microbiota showed that EP-Fe promoted the enrichment of Bacteroides＿fragilis and other gut microbes that can metabolize carbohydrates. In co.clusion, EP-Fe is an effective iron supplement for newborns, and it can be developed as a co.prehensive nutritional supplement.

We report the disco.ery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telesco.e （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER co.firmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till beco.ing undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and co.straints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the co.monly found fast and long-term *** co.nterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inco.sistent with any of the transient types known so far,by co.parison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

Tumor suppressor p53-mediated cell cycle arrest and DNA damage repair may exert cytoprotective effects against cancer therapies, including WEE1 inhibition. co.sidering that p53 activation can also lead to multiple types of cell death, the role of this tumor suppressor in WEE1 inhibitor-based therapies remains disputed. In this study, we reported that nucleolar stress-mediated p53 activation enhanced the WEE1 inhibitor AZD1775-induced ferroptosis to suppress lung cancer growth. Our findings showed that AZD1775 promoted ferroptosis by blocking cystine uptake, an action similar to that of Erastin. Meanwhile, inhibition of WEE1 by the WEE1 inhibitors or si RNAs induced co.pensatory upregulation of SLC7A11, which co.ferred resistance to ferroptosis. Mechanistically, AZD1775 prevented the enrichment of H3K9me3, a histone marker of transcriptional repression, on the SLC7A11 promoter by repressing the expression of the histone methyltransferase SETDB1, thereby enhancing NRF2-mediated SLC7A11 transcription. This finding was also validated using the H3K9me3 inhibitor BRD4770. Remarkably, we found that the nucleolar stress-inducing agent Actinomycin D(Act. D) inhibited SLC7A11 expression by activating p53, thus augmenting AZD1775-induced ferroptosis. Moreover, the co.bination of AZD1775 and Act. D synergistically suppressed wild-type p53-harboring lung cancer cell growth both in vitro and in vivo. Altogether, our study demonstrates that AZD1775 promotes ferroptosis by targeting cystine uptake but also mediates the adaptive activation of SLC7A11 through the WEE1-SETDB1 cascade and NRF2-induced transcription, and inhibition of SLC7A11 by Act. D boosts the anti-tumor efficacy of AZD1775 by enhancing ferroptosis in cancers with wild-type p53.

The heating,ventilation,and air-co.ditioning(HVAC)systems acco.nt for about half of the building energy *** optimization methodology access to optimal co.trol strategies of chiller plant has always been of great co.cern as it significantly co.tributes to the energy use of the whole HVAC *** that co.ventional centralized optimization methods relying on a central operator may suffer from dimensionality and a tremendous calculation burden,and show poorer flexibility when solving co.plex optimization issues,in this paper,a novel distributed optimization approach is presented for chiller plant *** the proposed distributed co.trol scheme,both trade-offs of co.pled subsystems and optimal allocation among devices of the same subsystem are co.sidered by developing a double-layer optimization ***-co.perative game is used to mathematically formulate the interaction between co.trolled co.ponents as well as to divide the initial system-scale nonlinear optimization problem into local-scale *** solve these tasks,strategy updating mechanisms(PSO and IPM)are *** this way,the approximate global optimal co.trolled variables of devices in the chiller plant can be obtained in a distributed and local-knowledge-enabled way without neither global information nor the central ***,the existence and effectiveness of the proposed distributed scheme were verified by simulation case *** results indicate that,by using the proposed distributed optimization scheme,a significant energy saving on a typical summer day can be obtained(1809.47 kW·h).The deviation from the central optimal solution is 3.83%.

The generation of various β-chiral sulfones bearing chiral cyclic sulfinamides through photoredox-catalyzed sulfur dioxide insertion with asymmetric radical cyclization is described. This method features a broad substrate sco.e and excellent stereospecificity. co.putational studies reveal that the dispersion interaction between sulfinyl group and CH2SO2Ph group plays a crucial role in the stereoselectivity co.trol.

Internal thermal insulation co.posite system(ITICS)can be an important measure for the energy-saving retrofitting of ***,ITICS may cause harmful effects on the hygrothermal performance of building *** work investigated the influence of the materials’hygric properties on the hygrothermal perfor-mance of a typical ITICS in different climate co.ditions in *** base wall materials,the traditional co.crete and a new type aerated co.crete,were tested and co.pared for their hygric properties *** influence of the hygrosco.icity of exterior plasters,the permeability of insulation materials and the climate co.ditions were then analyzed with WUFI *** hygrothermal performance was evaluated with co.sideration of the total water co.tent(TWC)of the walls and the moisture flux strength,the relative humidity(RH)and the mould growth risk at the interface between the base wall and the insulation layer(B-I interface).The numerical analysis implies that the TWC of internal insulated walls depends mainly on the hygrosco.icity of exterior plaster and the wind-driven rain *** upper limits for the water absorption co.fficient of exterior plasters used in Bei-jing,shanghai and Fuzhou are 1e-9,1e-10,1e-10 m^(2)/s *** such limits are guaranteed,a vapour tight system created by using insulation materials with a large vapour resistance factor or adding a vapour barrier can improve the hygrothermal performance of ITICS,especially for co.crete walls in co.d climate.

Metro is an important form of public transport in *** on the metro card data,we co.duct the cluster analysis of shanghai metro stations acco.ding to the pattern of passenger flow changing with *** the characteristics of travel time and surrounding land use are investigated for different types of stations to explore the relationship between urban land-use characteristics and travel activities reflected by passenger flow at metro *** is found that the passenger flow pattern of metro stations is closely related to the location co.ditions of stations and its surrounding land-use *** on various characteristics,285 metro stations are classified into four types,including residential-oriented stations,employmentoriented stations,employment-residence-oriented stations,and integrated functionaloriented stations,reflecting the interaction between spontaneous travel behavior and urban land-use characteristics and providing a reference for optimizing the urban functional structure and the spatial allocation of facilities.
