Multifunctional polyeugenol-based nanoparticles with antioxidant and antibacterial properties

Over the past few decades,extensive scientific has been dedicated to polymer synthesis employing renewable *** this study,we devised and synthesized multifunctional polyeugenol-based nanoparticles,exhibiting remarkable antioxidant and antibacterial *** grafting of eugenol onto the nanoparticle surface was achieved via a thiol-ene chemical reaction with a grafting rate of 3.5%.To comprehend the properties of the synthesized nanoparticles,we employed Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and pyrolysis-gas chromatography mass *** scanning electron microscopic and transmission electron microscopic analyses revealed the presence of a crosslinked structure within the polyeugenol-based nanoparticles,as well as a heteroge-neous microsphere structure on the *** to the inherent crosslinking structure,the polyeugenol-based nanoparticles demonstrated robust the resistance to solvents,as ascertained through thermog-ravimetric analysis and solvent resistance ***,nitrogen adsorption/desorption studies confirmed the adsorption capacity of the polyeugenol-based nanoparticles,rendering them potentially suitable for drug transport ***,the assays for assessing cytocompatibility and reactive oxygen species scavenging activities demonstrated better performance of the eugenol-based nano-particles compared to ***,the polyeugenol-based nanoparticles exhibited certain bactericidal activities against Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus,and Fusobacterium ***,these observations indicated the nontoxic nature and expansive application prospects of the polyeugenol-based nanoparticles in the domains of medicine and food *** work presented a pioneering concept for the development of antioxidant and antibacterial multifunctional polymer materials derived from eugenol.

Bromocriptine protects perilesional spinal cord neurons from lipotoxicity after spinal cord injury

recent studies have revealed that lipid droplets accumulate in neurons after brain injury and evoke lipotoxicity,damaging the ***,how lipids are metabolized by spinal cord neurons after spinal cord injury remains ***,we investigated lipid metabolism by spinal cord neurons after spinal cord injury and identified lipid-lowering compounds to treat spinal cord *** found that lipid droplets accumulated in perilesional spinal cord neurons after spinal cord injury in *** droplet accumulation could be induced by myelin debris in HT22 *** debris degradation by phospholipase led to massive free fatty acid production,which increased lipid droplet synthesis,β-oxidation,and oxidative *** oxidative phosphorylation increased reactive oxygen species generation,which led to increased lipid peroxidation and HT22 cell *** was identified as a lipid-lowering compound that inhibited phosphorylation of cytosolic phospholipase A2 by reducing the phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 in the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway,thereby inhibiting myelin debris degradation by cytosolic phospholipase A2 and alleviating lipid droplet accumulation in myelin debris-treated HT22 *** function,lipid droplet accumulation in spinal cord neurons and neuronal survival were all improved in bromocriptine-treated mice after spinal cord *** results suggest that bromocriptine can protect neurons from lipotoxic damage after spinal cord injury via the extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2-cytosolic phospholipase A2 pathway.

A vertical track nonlinear energy sink

Eliminating the effects of gravity and designing nonlinear energy sinks(NESs)that suppress vibration in the vertical direction is a challenging task with numerous damping *** this paper,the dynamic design of a vertical track nonlinear energy sink(VTNES)with zero linear stiffness in the vertical direction is proposed and realized for the first *** motion differential equations of the VTNES coupled with a linear oscillator(LO)are *** the strong nonlinearity considered of the VTNES,the steady-state response of the system is analyzed with the harmonic balance method(HBM),and the accuracy of the HBM is verified *** this basis,the VTNES prototype is manufactured,and its nonlinear stiffness is *** damping effect and dynamic characteristics of the VTNES are studied theoretically and *** results show that the VTNES has better damping effects when strong modulation responses(SMrs)***,even for small-amplitude vibration,the VTNES also has a good vibration suppression *** sum up,in order to suppress the vertical vibration,an NES is designed and developed,which can suppress the vertical vibration within certain ranges of the resonance frequency and the vibration intensity.

A wide-linear-range and low-hysteresis resistive strain sensor made of double-threaded conductive yarn for human movement detection

Yarn-based flexible strain sensors with advantages in wearability and integrability have attracted wide ***,it is still a big challenge to achieve yarn-based strain sensors with a wide linear strain range,low hysteresis,and durability synchronously that can be used for full range detection of human body ***,a new structure,double-threaded conductive yarn with rhythmic strain distribu-tion,is reported to markedly widen the linear strain range of microcrack-based stretchable strain sensors.A new method of winding and thermally adhering hot-melt filaments on the surface of the elastic fiber is used to achieve double-threaded yarn(dTY)with rhythmic strain *** proposed strategy,the integration of heterogeneous materials,is reported to significantly reduce the mechanical hysteresis of composite *** strain distribution of the dTY during stretching causes multi-level micro-cracks in different regions of the carbon nanotube(CNT)conductive layer deposited on the surface of the ***,the sensing performance of dTY-based strain sensor can be adjusted by designing the structural *** final prepared flexible strain sensor has the advantages of a wide linear strain range(100%),great sensitivity(GF=12.43),low hysteresis,rapid response(158 ms),high repeatability(>2000 cycles at 50%strain),and hydrophobicity,*** sensor can monitor human motion repeatedly and stably well,and shows great advantages in flexible wearable devices.

Particle segregation mechanism of S-d system in a rotating drum

Complex segregation occurs in a binary particle system with differing particle sizes and densities, particularly when the larger particles are heavier (S-d system, i.e., size minus density system). Predicting the segregation pattern driven by multiple mechanisms simultaneously is often challenging. This study explores the segregation mechanisms in a quasi-2d circular drum containing a S-d system, realizing a transition between the S-core and Core-and-band patterns by adjusting the drum rotation speed. during the transition of the segregation pattern, only the S-core pattern chiefly driven by the percolation mechanism is initially observed. As the rotation speed increases, the buoyancy mechanism and particle diffusion gradually strengthen, jointly driving the formation of the Core-and-band pattern. A dimensionless strength ratio, l 1/4 H=h, where H and h respectively represent the diffusion and buoyancy strengths at length scales, is introduced to elucidate this transition. Probiotics have great potential in regulating intestinal *** this study,the effects of Lactobacillus plantarum Ar495 on the visceral sensitivity and gut microbiota of irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)rats were *** results showed that tryptase released after mast cell activation and degranulation plays a key role in visceral pain,and *** Ar495 reduced the stimulation of colonic mast cells and the expression of protease-activated receptor 2(PAr2)and TrPV1 in dorsal root *** further showed that supplementation with *** Ar495 increased the level of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)and enhanced the barrier function of the *** addition,the microbiota analysis of the colon indicated that *** Ar495 promoted the proliferation of Bifidobacterium and inhibited the proliferation of Lachnospiraceae,which alleviated the imbalance of the intestinal microbiota caused by IBS to a certain *** total,*** Ar495 might reduce visceral sensitivity through the Mast cell-PAr2-TrPV1 signaling pathway by maintaining the homeostasis of the intestinal barrier.

New structure transistors for advanced technology node CMOS ICs

Over recent decades, advancements in complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor integrated circuits(ICs)have mainly relied on structural innovations in transistors. From planar transistors to the fin field-effect transistor(FinFET) and gate-all-around FET(GAAFET), more gate electrodes have been added to three-dimensional(3d) channels with enhanced control and carrier conductance to provide higher electrostatic integrity and higher operating currents within the same device footprint. Beyond the 1-nm node, Moore's law scaling is no longer expected to be applicable to geometrical shrinkage. Vertical transistor stacking, e.g. in complementary FETs(CFET), 3d stack(3dS) FETs and vertical-channel transistors(VFET), for enhanced density and variable circuit or system design represents a revolutionary scaling approach for sustained IC development. Herein, innovative works on specific structures, key process breakthroughs, shrinking cell sizes and design methodologies for transistor structure research and development are reviewed. Perspectives on future innovations in advanced transistors with new channel materials and operating theories are also discussed.

Network meta-analysis of combination strategies in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer

This study compared different doublet and triplet therapies for efficacy and safety in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer(mHSPC).PubMed,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Library were comprehensively searched for eligible randomized controlled trials(rCTs)published from inception to October *** included abiraterone,apalutamide,enzalutamide,docetaxel,darolutamide,and androgen deprivation therapy(AdT),either as doublet or triplet *** outcomes examined were overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),castration-resistant prostate cancer(CrPC)-free survival,time to symptomatic skeletal event(SSE),and *** surface under the cumulative ranking curve(SUCrA)was determined to identify the preferred *** rCTs were *** combination of darolutamide,docetaxel,and AdT had the highest SUCrA of 84.3 for OS,followed by combined abiraterone,docetaxel,and AdT(SUCrA=71.6).The highest SUCrAs for PFS were observed for triplet therapies(abiraterone,docetaxel,and AdT[SUCrA=74.9],followed by enzalutamide,docetaxel,and AdT[SUCrA=74.3])and other androgen receptor axis-targeted therapy-based doublet therapies(SUCrAs:26.5–59.3).darolutamide,docetaxel,and AdT had the highest SUCrAs,i.e.,80.8 and 84.0 regarding CrPC-free survival and time to SSE,*** Grade>3 adverse events(AEs),the SUCrAs of triplet therapies(SUCrAs:14.8–31.5)were similar to that of docetaxel and AdT(SUCrA=39.5).Three studies had a low risk of bias in all categories;the remaining studies had at least an unclear risk of bias in at least one *** therapy demonstrated potentially enhanced effectiveness than doublet therapy in mHSPC,with acceptable safety *** might be the optimal option for triplet therapy in combination with docetaxel and AdT.

Knowledge Graph Completion Method of Combining Structural Information with Semantic Information

With the development of knowledge graphs, a series of applications based on knowledge graphs have emerged. The incompleteness of knowledge graphs makes the effect of the downstream applications and affected by the quality of the knowledge graphs. To improve the quality of knowledge graphs, translation-based graph embeddings, such as TransE, learn structural information by rep-resenting triples as low-dimensional dense vectors. However, is difficult to generalize to unseen entities, Entities that are not observed during training but appear during testing. The other methods use the powerful representational ability of pre-trained language models to learn entity descriptions and contextual representation of triples. Although they are robust to incompleteness, but they need to calculate the score of all candidate entities for each triple during inference. We consider combining two models to enhance the robustness of unseen entities by semantic information, and prevent combined explosion by reducing inference overhead through structured information. We use a pre-training language model to code triples and learn the semantic information within them, and then use a hyperbolic space-based distance model to learn structural information and integrate the two types of information together. We evaluate our model by performing link prediction experi-ments in standard datasets. In experiments, our model achieves better performances than state-of-the-art methods on two standard datasets.
