The Power of Group Generators and Relations: An Examination of the Concept and Its Applications

This paper investigates the approach of presenting groups by generators and relations from an original angle. It starts by interpreting this familiar concept with the novel notion of “formal words” created by juxtaposing letters in a set. Taking that as basis, several fundamental results related to free groups, such as Dyck’s Theorem, are proven. Then, the paper highlights three creative applications of the concept in classifying finite groups of a fixed order, representing all dihedral groups geometrically, and analyzing knots topologically. All three applications are of considerable significance in their respective topic areas and serve to illustrate the advantages and certain limitations of the approach flexibly and comprehensively.

We demonstrate applications of a novel setup which is used for measuring the relative phase difference between S and P polarization at an oblique incidence point in optically denser medium by analyzing the relative frequency shift of adjacent axial modes of S and P resonances of a monolithic folded Fabry-Perot cavity (MFC). The relative phase difference at a reflection point A in an optically denser medium is inferred to be around -167.4° for a confocal cavity and -201.1° for a parallel cavity. Given the n1, n3, φ1, φ3, λ, and Δ, the elliptic formula tan(ψ)exp(iΔ) = Rp/Rs is used to find a solution for thickness d and refractive index n2 of the thin film coated on point A, where Rs and Rp are total refractive index of s and p component of light related to two unknown values. Since it is hard to deduce an analytical solution for thickness and refractive index of the film, we firstly used exhaustion method to find the set of solution about thickness and refractive index when assumed there is no light absorption by the film and then Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to find a set of solution of thickness and complex refractive index which accounts the light absorption by the film.

Background Bronchopulmonary dysplasia(BPD)is a common chronic lung disease in extremely preterm *** outcome and clinical burden vary dramatically according to *** some prediction tools for BPD exist,they seldom pay attention to disease severity and are based on populations in developed *** study aimed to develop machine learning prediction models for BPD severity based on selected clinical factors in a Chinese *** In this retrospective,single-center study,we included patients with a gestational age<32 weeks who were diagnosed with BPD in our neonatal intensive care unit from 2016 to *** collected their clinical information during the maternal,birth and early postnatal *** factors were selected through univariable and ordinal logistic regression *** models based on logistic regression(LR),gradient boosting decision tree,XGBoost(XGB)and random forest(RF)models were implemented and assessed by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC).Results We ultimately included 471 patients(279 mild,147 moderate,and 45 severe cases).On ordinal logistic regression,gestational diabetes mellitus,initial fraction of inspiration O_(2) value,invasive ventilation,acidosis,hypochloremia,C-reactive protein level,patent ductus arteriosus and Gram-negative respiratory culture were independent risk factors for BPD *** the XGB,LR and RF models(AUC=0.85,0.86 and 0.84,respectively)all had good *** We found risk factors for BPD severity in our population and developed machine learning models based on *** models have good performance and can be used to aid in predicting BPD severity in the Chinese population.

The initial-boundary value problem of Burgers equation is considered. A prediction-correction Legendre collocation scheme is presented, which is easy to be performed. Its numerical solution possesses the accuracy of second-order in time and higher order in space. Numerical results are reported, which show the high accuracy of this approach. The techniques used in this paper are also applicable to other nonlinear evolutionary problems.

AIM: To investigation the anti-coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3m)effect of the ethyl acetate extract of Tian-hua-fen on HeLacells infected with ***: HeLa cells were infected with CVB3m and thecytopathic effects (CPE) were observed through light microscope and crystal violet staining on 96-well plate and A600 was detected using spectrophotometer. The protective effect of the extract to HeLa cells and the mechanism of the effect were also evaluated through the change of CPE and value of ***: The extract had some toxicity to HeLa cells at a higher concentration while had a marked inhibitory effect on cell pathological changes at a lower *** results were got through these two *** also investigated the mechanism of its anti-CVB3m effectand the results indicated that the extract represented an inhibitory effect through all the processes of CVB3m attachment, entry, biosynthesis and assemble in ***: The results demonstrate that the ethyl acetate extract of Tian-hua-fen has a significantprotectiveeffect on HeLa cells infected with CVB3m in a dose-dependent manner and this effect exists through the process of CVB3mattachment, entry, biosynthesis and assemble in cells,suggesting that the ethyl acetate extract of Tian-hua-fen can be developed as an anti-virus agent.
