Exploring useful prognostic markers and developing a robust prognostic model for patients with prostate cancer are crucial for clinical practice.We applied a deep learning algorithm to construct a prognostic model and proposed the deep learning-based ferroptosis score(DLFscore)for the prediction of prognosis and potential chemotherapy sensitivity in prostate cancer.Based on this prognostic model,there was a statistically significant difference in the disease-free survival probability between patients with high and low DLFscore in the The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)cohort(P<0.0001).In the validation cohort GSE116918,we also observed a consistent conclusion with the training set(P=0.02).Additionally,functional enrichment analysis showed that DNA repair,RNA splicing signaling,organelle assembly,and regulation of centrosome cycle pathways might regulate prostate cancer through ferroptosis.Meanwhile,the prognostic model we constructed also had application value in predicting drug sensitivity.We predicted some potential drugs for the treatment of prostate cancer through AutoDock,which could potentially be used for prostate cancer treatment.

Lungs are structurally and functionally complex organs consisting of diverse cell types from the proximal to distal axis.They have direct contact with the external environment and are constantly at risk of various injuries.Capable to proliferate and differentiate,pulmonary endogenous progenitor stem cells contribute to the maintenance of lung structure and function both under homeostasis and following injuries.Discovering candidate pulmonary endogenous progenitor stem cell types and underlying regenerative mechanisms provide insights into therapeutic strategy development for lung diseases.In this review,we reveal their compositions,roles in lung disease pathogenesis and injury repair,and the underlying mechanisms.We further underline the advanced progress in research approach and potential therapy for lung regeneration.We also demonstrate the feasibility and prospects of pulmonary endogenous stem cell transplantation for lung disease treatment.

By leveraging data from a fully labeled source domain,unsupervised domain adaptation(UDA)im-proves classification performance on an unlabeled target domain through explicit discrepancy minimization of data distribution or adversarial learning.As an enhancement,category alignment is involved during adaptation to reinforce target feature discrimination by utilizing model prediction.However,there remain unexplored prob-lems about pseudo-label inaccuracy incurred by wrong category predictions on target domain,and distribution deviation caused by overfitting on source domain.In this paper,we propose a model-agnostic two-stage learning framework,which greatly reduces flawed model predictions using soft pseudo-label strategy and avoids overfitting on source domain with a curriculum learning strategy.Theoretically,it successfully decreases the combined risk in the upper bound of expected error on the target domain.In the first stage,we train a model with distribution alignment-based UDA method to obtain soft semantic label on target domain with rather high confidence.To avoid overfitting on source domain,in the second stage,we propose a curriculum learning strategy to adaptively control the weighting between losses from the two domains so that the focus of the training stage is gradually shifted from source distribution to target distribution with prediction confidence boosted on the target domain.Extensive experiments on two well-known benchmark datasets validate the universal effectiveness of our proposed framework on promoting the performance of the top-ranked UDA algorithms and demonstrate its consistent su-perior performance.

Aqueous sodium-ion batteries have attracted extensive attention for large-scale energy storage applications,due to abundant sodium resources,low cost,intrinsic safety of aqueous electrolytes and eco-friendliness.The electrochemical performance of aqueous sodium-ion batteries is affected by the properties of electrode materials and electrolytes.Among various electrode materials,Mn-based electrode materials have attracted tremendous attention because of the abundance of Mn,low cost,nontoxicity,eco-friendliness and interesting electrochemical performance.Aqueous electrolytes having narrow electrochemical window also affect the electrochemical performance of Mn-based electrode materials.In this review,we introduce systematically Mn-based electrode materials for aqueous sodium-ion batteries from cathode and anode materials and offer a comprehensive overview about their recent development.These Mn-based materials include oxides,Prussian blue analogues and polyanion compounds.We summarize and discuss the composition,crystal structure,morphology and electrochemical properties of Mn-based electrode materials.The improvement methods based on electrolyte optimization,element doping or substitution,optimization of morphology and carbon modification are highlighted.The perspectives of Mn-based electrode materials for future studies are also provided.We believe this review is important and helpful to explore and apply Mn-based electrode materials in aqueous sodium-ion batteries.

Grain boundaries(GBs),as a prevalent structural characteristic,play a crucial role in the deformation of nanoporous metals with nanosized grains and ligaments.However,the fundamental understanding of GB-mediated deformation is still lacking because the plastic behavior of discrete ligaments involving GBs remains to be unknown.Here,we report atomic scale visualizations of coupled GB dislocation climb and glide in nanoporous gold ligaments with low-angle GBs via in situ tensile straining inside a Cs-corrected transmission electron microscope.The zig-zag motion paths of GB dislocations are precisely determined by real-time tracking of the movements of dislocation cores.The concurrent climb and glide of the dislocation arrays are confined to a narrow GB region,greatly enhancing GB diffusion in the bicrystal ligament.Our findings of coupled dislocation climb and glide shine a light on the room-temperature deformation of nanoporous metals and provide a time-dependent atomic-level physical image for GB engineering.

An equiatomic VNbTi medium-entropy alloy with outstanding tensile properties and unique deformation behavior is reported.The screw dislocation glide,deformation twinning,and dislocation accumulation induced kink bands are identified as three deformation mechanisms that contribute to a large elongation above 20%.The{112}twins are activated at the beginning of the yield stage accompanied by sudden stress-drop and pronounced acoustic emission.Dislocations dominate subsequent tensile deformation,and the prevalent multiplanar dislocation slip promotes the formation of complex dislocation configurations(e.g.,debris,dipoles,and loops)and dense dislocation networks.The twin bands and kink bands can further impede the dislocation motion meanwhile effectively alleviate stress concentration.The synergistic activation of these deformation mechanisms provides new opportunities to design ductile refractory medium-and high-entropy alloys.

This paper introduces an approximate nuclear norm based matrix regression projection(ANMRP) model,an adaptive graph embedding method,for feature extraction of hyperspectral images.The ANMRP utilizes an approximate NMR model to construct an adaptive neighborhood map between samples.The globally optimal weight matrix is obtained by optimizing the approximate NMR model using fast alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM).The optimal projection matrix is then determined by maximizing the ratio of the local scatter matrix to the total scatter matrix,allowing for the extraction of discriminative features.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of ANMRP compared to related methods.

In contrast to traditional representational perspectives in which the motor cortex is involved in motor control via neuronal preferenceforkinetics andkinematics,a dynamical system perspective emerging in the last decade views the motor cortex as a dynamical machine that generates motor commands by autonomous temporal evolution.In this review,we first look back at the history of the representational and dynamical perspectives and discuss their explanatory power and controversy from both empirical and computational points of view.Here,we aim to reconcile the above perspectives,and evaluate their theoretical impact,future direction,and potential applications in brain-machine interfaces.

Ship auxiliary engines contribute large amounts of air pollutants when at berth.Biodiesel,including that from waste cooking oil(WCO),can favor a reduction in the emission of primary pollutant when used with internal combustion engines.This study investigated the emissions of gaseous intermediate-volatile organic compounds(IVOCs)between WCO biodiesel and marine gas oil(MGO)to further understand the differences in secondary organic aerosol(SOA)production of exhausts.Results revealed that WCO exhaust exhibited similar IVOC composition and volatility distribution to MGO exhaust,despite the differences between fuel contents.While WCO biodiesel could reduce IVOC emissions by 50%as compared to MGO,and thus reduced the SOA production from IVOCs.The compositions and volatility distributions of exhaust IVOCs varied to those of their fuels,implying that fuel-component-based SOA predicting model should be used with more cautions when assessing SOA production of WCO and MGO exhausts.WCO biodiesel is a cleaner fuel comparing to conventional MGO on ship auxiliary engines with regard to the reductions in gaseous IVOC emissions and corresponding SOA productions.Although the tests were conducted on test bench,the results could be considered as representative due to the widely applications of the test engine and MGO fuel on real-world ships.
