Islam is a religion that advocates peace and abides by“the doctrine of balance”.However,religious extremism is a“tumor”for the development of Islam,and leads to an alienation of *** the 9/11 attacks,Islamic extremism reappeared,mainly reflected in:1)the teachings of Islam being distorted,and the civil movement of the Islamic revival leading to the mire of extremism;2)Jihad ideology of Islam being misread,and the Islamic revival tending to be politicized and increasingly extreme;3)Al-Qaeda,the“Islamic State”(IS)and other terrorist organizations were rapidly expanding,which drove Islamic extremism *** causes of the above circumstances are complex and have far-reaching *** religious extremism has stolen the discourse right of the interpretation of scriptures,resulting in the formation of religious extremism *** became the deep-rooted reason of trends of religious extremism,and also led to the necessity of launching de-radicalization *** global anti-terrorism activities,China showed its uniqueness in seeking to play a constructive role in coordinating efforts of three major international anti-terrorist *** paper holds that cooperation between China and the Middle East countries on de-radicalization activities could focus on measures such as creating shared consensus in anti-terrorism,advancing the interpretation of scriptures,improving religious dialogue mechanisms,and highlighting the unique role of patriotic religious leaders and other initiatives,in order to effectively prevent religious extremism from expanding.

After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic,globalization began to derail,whereas regional integration and multilateral economic and trade cooperation driven by inter-state politics became the main *** the face of climate risks,the pandemic,trade frictions and other severe man-made or non-man-made“black swan”events,wide cracks have opened in the global system of labor division and cooperation,plunging globalization into further grave *** the United Nations has repeatedly pointed to the climate emergency,calling for international cooperation to respond to the triple planetary emergencies of climate change,biodiversity and pollution.1 The sustainable development of the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)requires a coordinated approach to deal with different factors such as cleaner air,water,food and *** is not only significant for high-quality Belt and Road construction,but also for the new development paradigm of domestic and international circulations reinforcing each *** global green governance steps up,the green BRI may correct the current global governance deficit and boost a green recovery in the post COVID-19 era,making up for the lack of sufficient green public goods2 while facilitating the establishment of a global ecological civilization.

Background One Health approach is crucial to tackling complex global public health threats at the interface of humans, animals, and the environment. As outlined in the One Health Joint Plan of Action, the international One Health community includes stakeholders from different sectors. Supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, an academic community for One Health action has been proposed with the aim of promoting the understanding and real-world implementation of One Health approach and contribution towards the Sustainable Development Goals for a healthy *** text The proposed academic community would contribute to generating high-quality scientific evidence, distilling local experiences as well as fostering an interconnected One Health culture and mindset, among various stakeholders on different levels and in all sectors. The major scope of the community covers One Health governance, zoonotic diseases, food security, antimicrobial resistance, and climate change along with the research agenda to be developed. The academic community will be supported by two committees, including a strategic consultancy committee and a scientific steering committee, composed of influential scientists selected from the One Health information database. A workplan containing activities under six objectives is proposed to provide research support, strengthen local capacity, and enhance global *** The proposed academic community for One Health action is a crucial step towards enhancing communication, coordination, collaboration, and capacity building for the implementation of One Health. By bringing eminent global experts together, the academic community possesses the potential to generate scientific evidence and provide advice to local governments and international organizations, enabling the pursuit of common goals, collaborative policies, and solutions to misaligned interests.

Schistosomiasis,one of the 17 neglected tropical diseases listed by the World Health Organization,presents a substantial public health and economic *** the 261 million people requiring preventive chemotherapy for schistosomiasis in 2013,92%of them lived in sub-Saharan Africa and only 12.7%received preventive ***,in 2010,the WHO reported that schistosomiasis mortality could be as high as 280000 per year in Africa *** May 2012 delegates to the sixty-fifth World Health Assembly adopted resolution WHA65.21 that called for the elimination of schistosomiasis,and foresees the regular treatment of at least 75%of school age children in at-risk *** resolution urged member states to intensify schistosomiasis control programmes and to initiate elimination campaigns where *** this,in June 2015,schistosomiasis was indicated to have the lowest level of preventive chemotherapy implementation in the spectrum of neglected tropical *** was also highlighted as the disease most lacking in *** is perhaps unsurprising,given that it was also the only NTD with access to drug donations but without a coalition of stakeholders that collaborates to boost commitment and *** a consequence,and to ensure that the WHO NTDs Roadmap Targets of 2012 and World Health Assembly Resolution WHA65.21 are met,the global Schistosomiasis Alliance(GSA)has been set *** and representative,the GSA aims to be a partnership of endemic countries,academic and research institutions,international development agencies and foundations,international organizations,non-governmental development organizations,private sector companies and advocacy and resource mobilisation ***,the GSA calls for a partnership to work for the benefit of endemic countries by addressing health inequity and rural poverty.

A Health Risk Assessment of Carbonyl-containing Volatile Organic Compounds in the Atmosphere of Chinese Megacities

Carbonyl-containing volatile organic compounds （cVOCs） are important precursors of atmospheric photochemical reactions in the formation of ozone, smog and other air pollutants. China＇s megacities are economically developed and densely populated metropolitan areas, usually with a population over ten million; they drive the rapid growth of surrounding urban clusters. So far, 21 cVOCs have been detected in the atmosphere of these megacities. The average annual total concentration of cVOCs is 55.6 μg/m^3, an alarmingly high level. Vehicle emissions, industrial discharges, excessive use of organic solvents and other factors have led to a situation where hazardous formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acetone account for 62.4 percent of the total atmospheric concentration of cVOC in Chinese cities. In a quantitative evaluation using daily exposure levels, cancer risk and hazardquotient, we found that the excessive levels of atmospheric cVOCs in Beijing, shanghai and Guangzhou pose serious health risks to their inhabitants. Air pollution persists, despite the brief improvements in air quality brought about by the air quality campaign undertaken during major intemational events like the 2008 Olympic Games, the 2010 Asian Games, and the 2010 World Expo. The health risks caused by atmospheric cVOCs in Chinese cities require close attention.

In this paper, we discuss the environmental damages caused by the use and carriage of Heavy Fuel Oil(HFO) by ships in Arctic waters. We also review efforts made by major international and regional organizations in governing the use and carriage of HFO by ships in Arctic waters after implementation of the Polar Code, and analyze the obstacles and difficulties that lie ahead. By illustrating the features of the Arctic Council and the international Maritime Organization(IMO), which govern Arctic waters, we examine measures taken by these two organizations in tackling HFO issues. These include: assessing indigenous and local community’s reliance on HFO transportation in the Arctic, developing risk prevention measures for ships operating in Arctic waters, seeking economic alternatives to HFO that contribute to a greener economy, developing a package of HFO governance measures, strengthening cooperation between relevant international and regional organizations that govern HFO to provide suggestions for follow-up discussions on HFOs, and optimize governance by relevant organizations and determine a better global solution to governing the use and carriage of HFO by ships. In addition, we discuss the feasibility of an IMO-imposed HFO ban from the perspective of the Arctic governance to clearly grasp the path of its future development.

Sovereign wealth funds,as an active participant in the global capital market,have attracted increasingly more attention from both academicians and *** opacity of the funds is one of the hot issues.A greater transparency is needed for the Sovereign Wealth Funds(SWFs)in the Middle East when they play an increasingly important role in the global capital *** reviewing the transparency standards and examining the performance of SWFs in the region on information disclosure,this article lists the political,economic and cultural causes of the opacity and justifies the varieties in *** also finds that the legitimacy of these funds should not be challenged because the political motivation does not necessarily change their market *** effective management of the funds requires improvement of transparency,the transparency standards should be moderate in the context of economic integration and financial globalization,hence international governance is a *** addition to the reflection on the role of IFSWF in international governance,some lessons and suggestions are given to China’s SWFs at the end of the paper.
