Nonlinear dynamics of electroencephalography study in schizophrenic patients

Background Few characteristic changes of linear electroencephalograph （EEG） have been reported in schizophrenia. The aim of the present study was to investigate the changes in temporal-spatial dimensional properties of EEG under different cognitive tasks in patients with schizophrenia. Methods EEG was recorded by using EEG-1518K system and mapping system （Nihon Kohden Tomioka Corporation, Japan） in 45 schizophrenic patients and 47 healthy adults （normal control, NC） under five states： eyes c^osed, eyes open, mental arithmetic test with eyes closed, memory test with eyes open, and number cancellation test. Correlation dimension （D2） and point-wise correlation dimension （PD2） were calculated for all EEG analyses. results （1） There were no significant differences of D2 and PD2 between NC and schizophrenic patients under states of eyes open and closed. （2） Compared with NC, schizophrenic patients showed decreased performance of D2 in mental arithmetic test with eyes closed and number cancellation test （mental arithmetic test with eyes closed： Nc 5.9±0.6, Sch 3.0＋0.8; number cancellation test： Nc 6.0±0.6, Sch 4.4±0.7; P 〈0.05 or P 〈0.01）. （3） Schizophrenic patients also showed decrease performance of PD2 in mental arithmetic test with eyes closed, memory test with eyes open, and number cancellation test （mental arithmetic test with eyes closed： Nc 6.9±0.7, Sch 4.0±0.8; memory test with eyes open： Nc 6.6±0.8, Sch 5.0±0.9; number cancellation test： Nc 7.1±0.7, Sch 4.8±0.9; P 〈0.05 or P 〈0.01）. Conclusions Nonlinear dynamic analysis provided a new approach in clinical investigation of EEG signals. It was helpful to further understand the cerebral mechanism in schizophrenic cognitive process.

A number of specimens of Ti-51Ni (at. pet) alloy showing reversible shape memory effect (RSME) have been measured as to reversibility and S-lineshape parameter of positron annihilation. It is found that the Ti-51Ni specimens showing good memory effect contain structural defects. Not all specimens including structural defects (or structural imperfection) are able to exhibit good memory effect. The structural defects have to be appropriate in density, neither too much nor too little. With no or too much structural defects a good RSME could not take place. It is fully as important that the structural defects exist as it is for the structural defects to be appropriate in density in order to obtain a good RSME.

AIM:To perform a meta-analysis of observational studies and randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on the association between Helicobacter pylori(***)and iron deficiency anemia(IDA).METHODS:A defined search strategy was used to search Medline,Embase,the Cochrane Library,Clinical Trials,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,Premedline and *** ratio(OR)was used to evaluate observational epidemiology studies,and weighted mean difference(WMD)was used to demonstrate the difference between control and intervention ***:Fifteen observational studies and 5 RCTs were identified and used for *** pooled OR for observational studies was 2.22(95%CI:1.52-3.24,Presults were heterogeneous for all ***:This meta-analysis on observational studies suggests an association between *** and *** RCTs,eradication of *** can improve HB and SF levels but not significantly.

Single Buffer Using Perovskite-like RE_2Zr_2O_7 Oxides for High Temperature Superconducting Coated Conductors

Single buffer layers of either Gd2Zr2O7 (GZO) or La2Zr2O7 (LZO) with different thickness on highly textured Ni-W tapes were compared with respective to the application of YBa2Cu3O7-δ coated conductors. The superconducting performances are improved as the buffer thickness of GZO or LZO increases up to a critical value, such as 310 and 240 nm, respectively. This suggests that a thin buffer layer is insufficient to prevent the Ni diffusion. If the buffer thickness increases further, the superconducting properties degrade, probably due to changes in the microstructure and degradation of the buffer texture. Comparing with LZO, the texture of GZO is hardly dependent on its thickness, due to smaller mismatch for its lattice with that of Ni-W. For both single buffered coated conductors, the superconducting transition temperatures are around 92 K with a transition width less than 1 K. Inductive measurement reveals that the critical current density (Jc) at 77 K in self-field, reaches 1.2 MA/cm2 and 0.77 MA/cm2 for GZO, and LZO, respectively. This implies that the single buffers of GZO and LZO are comparable to standard buffer architectures such as CeO2/YSZ/Y2O3 or CeO2/LZO, being promising for the process simplification and cost reduction.

Four Dawson type heteropolyoxotungstates substituted by noble metals with the general formula (TBA)(n)[As2W17M(OH2)O-61], where M=Pd-II, Ru-III, Ir-IV and Pt-IV are prepared by filling thp meant site of thp lacunary percursor alpha(2)-K10As2W17O61. UV-vis and IR spectra are similar to the other transition metal substituted Dawson type tungstodiarsenates. EPR result provides direct evidence to identify the presence of noble metal cation. Electrochemical behavior investigated bg cyclic voltammetry irt acetonitrile displays four reversible one-electron redox couples attributed to the W(VI-->V) process of tungsten-oxo framework.

Aim:To establish bone mineral density(BMD)reference database in healthy Chinese men of Han ethnicity,and to estimate the prevalence of osteoporosis in the ***:The BMD in the lumbar spine 1-4(L1-4)and proximal femur was measured using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry in a total of 1385 healthy Chinese men of Han ethnicity aged 20-89 years old in ***:The highly significant negative correlation between age and BMD at any sites of proximal femur was found in the studied population,wheras no correlation between age and BMD at lumbar spine was *** peak BMD of the lumbar spine and any sites of hip in Chinese men was defined as the mean BMD for the subjects aged 20-39 *** to World Health Organization(WHO)criteria,the BMD cut-off values for osteoporosis of the L1-4,total hip,femoral neck,trochanter and intertrochanter in Chinese men are 0.719,0.638,0.575,0.437 and 0.725 g/cm^2,*** the current Chinese reference data,the prevalence of osteoporosis at the L1-4,total hip,femoral neck,trochanter and intertrochanter is 5.4%,3.8%,6.3%, 1.8% and 2.8% in 1084 men aged 50 years or older,***,using a database for US non-Hispanic white men(NHANES Ⅲ),the prevalence of osteoporosis or osteopenia at any sites of the hip was significantly higher than that while using the current Chinese reference ***:The BMD reference database was established in healthy Chinese men of Han ethnicity,and will facilitate more accurate diagnosis of osteoporosis in Chinese men. The [Zr6(μ2-Cl)12Cl6H4]3- ion with C4v Symmetry in the title compounds has been calculated by DV-Xα program. The calculated results show that ther is almost no available covalence bonding between zirconium atoms and significant Zr 4d AO compositions in the MOs. but there are much stronger Zr-Cl(bridging) bonding. All analysis results suggest that these compounds would be the cluster with Zr6Cl12 cage linked by Zr-Cl bridging bonding plus six Cl teminal ligands rather than the hexazirconium cluster in view of the chemical bonding.

Monodispersed particles of doped yttrium basic carbonates were prepared at aging at elevated temperature corresponding salts solutions in the presence of urea. Coprecipitation in mixed solutions of yttrium, lanthanum and neodymium salts under similar experimental conditions yielded composite particles of basic carbonates. The content of the three metals in the solids followed closely the initial composition of the reacting solutions. On calcination all prepared solids converted to their corresponding oxides while retaining their particle morphology. The so-prepared powders were characterized by various techniques.
