AIM:To investigate the effect of 0.01%low-concentration atropine(LA)on quantitative contrast sensitivity function(qCSF)in children with ***:This paired case-control study included 90 eyes of 58 children who were sex-,age-,and refractionmatched and equally divided into two groups:the 0.01%LA group had undergone 6mo use of daily 0.01%atropine and control group was naïve to *** ophthalmic examinations and qCSF test without refractive correction were *** groups were compared in monocular and binocular qCSF parameters,including the area under logCSF,CSF acuity,and contrast sensitivity(CS)at 1.0-18.0 cycle per degree(cpd).RESULTS:In the monocular comparison,the CSF acuity of the LA group was significantly higher than that of the control group(7.58±5.51 vs 6.37±4.22 cpd,P<0.05).The subgroup analysis showed that in the 6-9y group,CSF acuity was significantly higher in the LA group than the control group(8.76±6.19 vs 6.54±4.25 cpd,P<0.05),and in the Female group,low refraction sphere group,and high refraction cylinder group,the CS at high spatial frequencies(12.0 and 18.0 cpd)were significantly higher in the LA group than in the control group(all P<0.05).In the binocular test,CSF acuity and CS at 12.0 cpd were significantly higher in the LA group than in the control group(10.95±7.00 vs 8.65±5.12 cpd;0.17±0.33 vs 0.06±0.16,respectively;both P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Use of LA may result in improved CS in children with early onset myopia.

The development of a nucleophilic fluorination protocol using hydrofluoric acid as the fluoride source represents a long-sought goal in the field of organofluorine *** report herein the realization of such a reaction that employed alkyl-substituted sulfonium ylides as the *** key to the success of the protocol was attributed to two factors:First,as a Brϕnsted base,the ylide was able to be protonated by HFaq,thus serving as a phase-transfer shuttle generated in situ to bring F−from aqueous phase to the organic phase promoting desolvation of fluoride ***,after protonation,a sulfonium salt,a good leaving group,was generated and subsequent attacked by the fluoride to afford the alkyl *** investigation indicates that the reaction occurs via an SN1 *** of the nature of the cationic intermediate in the reaction,two attractive rearrangement-fluorination approaches including 1,2-aryl migration fluorination and ring-expansion fluorination were disclosed.

Constructing quasi-2D perovskite to collect hot carriers to reduce open-circuit voltage loss for efficient inverted perovskite solar cells

Inverted perovskite solar cells （PSCs） have received great attention owing to the high certificated power conversion efficiency（PCE） reaching 26.7%. However, interfacial charge recombination is far superior to perovskite bulk charge recombination due to the use of fullerenes and their derivatives in inverted perovskite solar cells, which induces devastating open circuit voltage（VOC） losses. For this reason the present work attempts to use 4-chloropiperidine hydrochloride for the upper surface modification of perovskite to construct a quasi-two-dimensional （2D） structure with suitable 2D layer widths （n=2, 3 dominant）,which has a smaller electron carrier transport barrier without sacrificing short-circuit current （JSC） in the device. This strategy effectively passivates the interfacial defect states while promoting energy level alignment to achieve carrier dissociation and equilibrium transport at the interface, which in turn resulted in improved fill factor （FF）. In addition, additional energy levels are provided by 2D perovskites to collect hot carriers, resulting in improved device open circuit voltage （VOC）. As a result, the device PCE increases from 22.37%to 24.11%after the 4CPD treatment. In addition, the 4CPD-treated PSCs maintain 90%of the initial PCE after storage in an N2atmosphere at 50°C for 1,080 h, whereas the control devices show a 15%PCE loss under the same aging conditions. This work provides new opportunities to suppress interfacial charge recombination in inverted devices.

Distinct brain remodeling has been found after different nerve reconstruction strategies,including motor representation of the affected ***,differences among reconstruction strategies at the brain network level have not been *** study aimed to explore intranetwork changes related to altered peripheral neural pathways after different nerve reconstruction surgeries,including nerve repair,endto-end nerve transfer,and end-to-side nerve ***–Dawley rats underwent complete left brachial plexus transection and were divided into four equal groups of eight:no nerve repair,grafted nerve repair,phrenic nerve end-to-end transfer,and end-to-side transfer with a graft sutured to the anterior upper ***-state brain functional magnetic resonance imaging was obtained 7 months after *** independent component analysis algorithm was utilized to identify group-level network components of interest and extract resting-state functional connectivity values of each voxel within the *** in intra-network resting-state functional connectivity were compared among the *** muscle reinnervation was assessed by behavioral observation(elbow flexion)and *** results showed that alterations in the sensorimotor and interoception networks were mostly related to changes in the peripheral neural *** repair was related to enhanced connectivity within the sensorimotor network,while end-to-side nerve transfer might be more beneficial for restoring control over the affected limb by the original motor *** thalamic-cortical pathway was enhanced within the interoception network after nerve repair and end-to-end nerve *** areas related to cognition and emotion were enhanced after end-to-side nerve *** study revealed important brain networks related to different nerve *** networks may be potential targets for enhancing motor recovery.

A functional cathode sodium compensation agent for stable sodium-ion batteries

Hard carbon(HC)is widely used in sodium-ion batteries(SIBs),but its performance has always been limited by lowinitial Coulombic efficiency(ICE)and cycling *** compensation agent is a favorable strategy to make up for the loss of active sodium ions consumed *** it lacks agent that effectively decomposes to increase the active sodium ions as well as regulate carbon defects for decreasing the irreversible sodium ions ***,we propose 1,2-dihydroxybenzene Na salt(NaDB)as a cathode compensation agent with high specific capacity(347.9 mAh g^(-1)),lower desodiation potential(2.4–2.8 V)and high utilization(99%).Meanwhile,its byproduct could functionalize HC with more C=O groups and promote its reversible ***,the presodiation hard carbon(pHC)anode exhibits highly reversible capacity of 204.7 mAh g^(-1) with 98%retention at 5 C rate over 1000 ***,with 5 wt%NaDB initially coated on the Na3V2(PO4)3(NVP)cathode,the capacity retention of NVP + NaDB|HC cell could increase from 22%to 89%after 1000 cycles at 1 C *** work provides a new avenue to improve reversible capacity and cycling performance of SIBs through designing functional cathode compensation agent.

The detection of small targets poses a significant challenge for infrared search and tracking (IRST) systems,as they must strike a delicate balance between accuracy and *** this paper,we propose a detection algorithm based on spatial attention density peaks searching (SADPS) and an adaptive window selection ***,the difference-of-Gaussians (DoG) filter is introduced for preprocessing raw infrared ***,the image is processed by ***,an adaptive window selection scheme is applied to obtain window templates for the target scale ***,the small target feature is used to enhance the target and suppress the ***,the true targets are segmented through a *** experimental results show that compared with the seven state-of-the-art small targets detection baseline algorithms,the proposed method not only has better detection accuracy,but also has reasonable time consumption.

Stem-leaf saponins of Panax notoginseng attenuate experimental Parkinson's disease progression in mice by inhibiting microglia-mediated neuroinflammation via P2Y2R/PI3K/AKT/NFκB signaling pathway

Stem-leaf saponins from Panax notoginseng(SLSP) comprise numerous PPD-type saponins with diverse pharmacological properties; however, their role in Parkinson's disease(PD),characterized by microglia-mediated neuroinflammation, remains unclear. This study evaluated the effects of SLSP on suppressing microglia-driven neuroinflammation in experimental PD models, including the 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium(MPTP)-induced mouse model and lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-stimulated BV-2 microglia. Our findings revealed that SLSP mitigated behavioral impairments and excessive microglial activation in models of PD, including MPTP-treated mice. Additionally, SLSP inhibited the upregulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase(i NOS) and cyclooxygenase-2(COX2) and attenuated the phosphorylation of PI3K,protein kinase B(AKT), nuclear factor-κB(NFκB), and inhibitor of NFκB protein α(IκBα) both in vivo and in vitro. Moreover, SLSP suppressed the production of inflammatory markers such as interleukin(IL)-1β, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α) in LPS-stimulated BV-2cells. Notably, the P2Y2R agonist partially reversed the inhibitory effects of SLSP in LPStreated BV-2 cells. These results suggest that SLSP inhibit microglia-mediated neuroinflammation in experimental PD models, likely through the P2Y2R/PI3K/AKT/NFκB signaling pathway. These novel findings indicate that SLSP may offer therapeutic potential for PD by attenuating microglia-mediated neuroinflammation.

Unraveling atomistic and electronic origins of multiaxial magnetic anisotropy

Multiaxial magnetic anisotropy(MA)refers to the phenomenon that multiple axes of the magnetic crystal correspond to different energy *** with the common uniaxial magnetic anisotropy,multiaxial MA facilitates novel forms of applications in ***,by combining the first-principles-based spin Hamiltonian and tight-binding(TB)method,we reveal the microscopic origins,instead of the common phenomenological understanding,of biaxial MA and triaxial *** the example system of NiO,it is found that the multiple minima result from the fourth-order and the sixth-order single ion interactions,while the difference between[110]and[110]directions originates from a second-order bond-dependent anisotropic pair interaction(i.e.,the so-called Gamma interaction).Moreover,through the application of a newly developed general spin dependent TB approach,it is revealed that the triaxial MA arises from the special spin-orbital entangled Hund term,which is different from the orbital-independent Hund term in the usual Slater Koster TB *** work thus not only leads to a thorough understanding of the multiaxial MA in NiO,but also establishes a methodology that can be widely used to explore the microscopic origins of MA in different magnets.
