Objectives: Bacillus cereus isolates from vegetables can cause diarrheal syndrome food poisoning. Lettuce, the most highly consumed ready-to-eat vegetable, poses a significant risk of B. cereus exposure. Hence, B. cereus monitoring and evaluation during cultivation are essential for preventing foodborne illnesses caused by this food-pathogen combination. However, the impact of different cultivation practices on B. cereus contamination in lettuce currently remains unclear. Furthermore, a validity indicator for the experimental models cannot be effectively validated under field conditions. Materials and Methods: Herein, we assessed the risk of B. cereus exposure using lettuce grown under two different cultivation farming systems in China (open-field versus greenhouse) using a quantitative microbial risk assessment model. Tukey's mean comparison method and kernel density estimation frequency distribution statistics were used for model validation using environmental samples and lettuce. Results: The mean concentration of B. cereus in open-field-grown lettuce was significantly higher than that in greenhouse-grown lettuce (P0.05), verifying the accuracy of the risk model. Conclusion: Soil solarization, complete manure treatment, usage of mulch films, and irrigation water quality should be considered in agricultural practices to control B. cereus concentrations in lettuce. Overall, we found that B. cereus was more abundant in open-field-grown lettuce, and we provide a risk evaluation framework that can guide farmers and policy-makers to control B. cereus contamination in farm-to-fork lettuce chains in China.

The influence of Y addition on the distribution of element concentrations in the passive film of high silicon stainless steel formed in 93% H2SO4 was comparatively studied by using auger electron spectroscopy (AES). The results show that 0.2%Y addition increases the SiO2 proportion in the passive film of stainless steel so that the formation of SiO2 enriched passive film from silicon in the alloy is brought into full play.

Objectives Vibrio parahaemolyticus is the primary species that causes vibriosis. In this study, a point-of-care detection method was developed for V. *** and Methods The detection platform targeted the thermolabile haemolysin (tlh) gene of V. parahaemolyticus based on recombinant polymerase amplification (RPA) and clustered regularly spaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR/Cas) systems. The platform was combined with an immunochromatographic test strip (ICS) that enables low-cost, simple, visual detection of V. *** The detection limit was 2.5x102 fg/mu L for plasmids and 1.4x102 CFU/mL for V. parahaemolyticus. In addition, V. parahaemolyticus in salmon sashimi could be detected at a concentration of 154 CFU/g without enrichment, and the entire detection time was around 30 min. After enrichment for 6 h, 2 CFU/g V. parahaemolyticus could be *** Consequently, the proposed RPA-CRISPR/Cas12a-ICS platform could detect V. parahaemolyticus in seafood intuitively, quickly, and sensitively, leading to high practical application value.

Study on hydrogen diffusion behavior in MlNi_(3.75) Co_(0.65) Mn_(0.4) Al_(0.2) alloy electrode by chronoamperometry

Hydrogen diffusion coefficients in MlNi 3.75 Co 0.65 Mn 0.4 Al 0.2 alloy electrode as a function of state of charge (SOC) or temperature were determined by chronoamperometry. It is found that hydrogen diffusion coefficient decreases with the increase of SOC or the decrease of temperature. The activation energy for hydrogen diffusion in the alloy electrode with 50%SOC is evaluated to be 19.9?kJ/mol.

The rheological properties of slurries formed by different nano-size Y-TZP have been studied. The viscosity is sensitive to solid loading especially for high solid content level. The dispersant NH(4)PAA can improve the flowability efficiently. The smaller ceramic particles need to adsorb more dispersant to the flowability. Under the same solid content, the smaller the particles, the higher the viscosity of its slurry.

Calculation of Thermodynamic Properties from Two-liquid Coexisting Phase Diagram of Al-In System by Means of NRTL Equation

The non-random two-liquid (NRTL) equation approach has been used for calculating the activity coefficient and excess Gibbs free energy of the binary alloy system involving two-liquid coexisting phases. The parameters needed for the calculation are the differences of interaction energies (g//1//2-g//2//2), (g//2//1-g//1//1) and non-randomness constant alpha , which are determined by solving NRTL equation with the aid of genetic algorithm. The calculation was carried out numerically for Al-In system. The agreement between the calculated and experimentally determined values of activity coefficient and excess Gibbs free energy is rather good, indicating the validity of the NRTL equation for the description of two-liquid coexisting phase alloy systems. Formation and Oxidation Resistance of Silicide Coatings for Mo and Mo-Based Alloys

The forming process of silicide coatings on pure Mo and Mo-base alloys, obtained by the gas- phase deposition method. has been studied by examining the microstructure of coatings and the relationship between coating thickness and process parameters. It was shown that the growth of coatings was diffusion-controlled, the diffusion of silicon to be coated into Mo or Mo-base alloys was mainly responsible for the formation of silicide. The relationship between initial silicide thickness and oxidation resistance was also investigated, and the equation of service life of the coatings at high temperature in air is presented.

The distribution of trivalent and tetravalent cations in several ATxV6-xO11 compounds was quantitatively studied by the bond valence method. In SrV6O11, the M(3) sites were mainly occupied by trivaient cations; while M(1) and M(2) sites were shared by trivalent and tetravalent cations, the relative content of tetravalent at M(1) sites was higher than at M(2) sites. During substitution process, the trivalent cations preferred to occupy M(3) sites, tetravalent ones preferred to occupy M(2) sites.
