Whole-genome duplication(WGD) events are widespread across eukaryotes and have played a significant role in moulding the genetic architectures of diverse organisms. In the present study, the newly sequenced genome of a giant ciliated protist, Stentor roeselii, provides an opportunity for the analysis of the collinearity and retention of reciprocal best-hit genes between two Stentor species. As a main result, we have unveiled a previously undetected ancient WGD event shaping the genome of its congener, Stentor coeruleus, a model protist used in cytological and evolutionary studies. Genomes of two congeners, S. coeruleus and S. roeselii, are compared and analyzed, revealing that:(i)the former exhibits a much higher retention rate of colinear-gene pairs(28%) than does S. roeselii, and in S. coeruleus, 75% of genes that have a RBH hit in S. roeselii, have paralogs with high amino-acid identity, consistent with a WGD event in the lineage leading to S. coeruleus;(ii) the S. roeselii genome possesses extremely short intergenic regions, implying that the lengths of intergenic regions are under strong selection;(iii) the unique characteristics of introns may have been shaped in the common ancestor of heterotrichs;(iv) gene families that play a role in activities of multiple protein kinases and voltage-gated ion channels expanded rapidly in the ancestor of both taxa, possibly relating to the remarkable regenerative ability in Stentor. This study offers new insights into the evolutionary dynamics of ciliate genomes,with implications for understanding of the processes underlying the evolution of genomic complexity.

Tunable light–matter interactions are exhibited by organic low-dimensional crystals, making these crystals a promising platform for organic photonics. However, the precise synthesis of organic low-dimensional crystals remains challenging due to the stochastic nature of molecular nucleation processes. Herein, the directed nucleation process is driven by the introduction of metastable seed-crystals as the trunk, which ultimately leads to branched-array organic heterostructures. The successful formation of organic heterostructures with high-density branched arrays is attributed to the highest attachment energy (Eatt（023）=-104.25 kcal mol-1) of the exposed （023） crystal plane during the seed-crystal growth route. Significantly, these as-prepared heterostructures inherently have an ultralow lattice mismatch ratio η of 0.7%between trunk and branch, which contributes to the multi-channel photon transportation. Therefore, this work provides valuable insights into a versatile synthetic strategy for accessing low-dimensional heterostructures for integrated optoelectronics.

Investigation of rarely studied gravel layers found in the loess in shandong Province,eastern China,reveals the fabric characteristics of two gravel layers(G1,G2)and the sedimentary characteristics of loess at the typical and well-preserved Heiyu section(HY),where,to determine the paleoclimatic changes during Marine Isotope Stage *** stimulated luminescence dates of the HY formation range from 0.26±0.02 ka to 39.00±2.00 *** addition,the ages of G1 and G2 were estimated using the Bayesian model to be 39.60-40.50 and 29.00-29.50 ka.G1 and G2 are mainly composed of fine and medium gravel,both of which were subangular to subrounded limestone,with gravel directions to NE and *** average flow velocity,average depth,and flood peak flow of G1 are 1.10 m/s,0.49 m,and 37.04 m^(3)/s,respectively,calculated using the flow energy method,whereas those of G2 are 0.98 m/s,0.38 m,and 18.38 m^(3)/s,*** of climate proxy indices show that the sedimentary environment of the gravel and loess in HY might be a regional response to global change.

Geophysical-Geological Interpretation and Deep-Seated Gold Deposit Prospecting in Sanshandong-Jiaojia Area, Eastern shandong Province, China

Integrated gravitational, electrical-magnetic surveys and data processing carried out in the Sanshandao-Jiaojia area, Eastern shandong Province, northeast China, aim to illuminate the geological characteristics of this shallow-covered area and delineate deep-seated gold prospecting targets. In this region, altogether 12 faults exert critical control on distribution of three types of Early Precambrian metamorphic rock series, i.e. those in the metamorphic rock area, in the granitic rock area underlying the metamorphic rock, and in the remnant metamorphic rock area in granites, respectively. Additionally, the faults have major effects on distribution of four Mesozoic Linglong rock bodies of granite, i.e. the Cangshang, Liangguo, Zhuqiao-Miaojia and Jincheng granites. The Sanshandao and Jiaojia Faults are two well-known regional ore-controlling faults; they have opposite dip direction, and intersect at a depth of 4500 m. Fracture alteration zones have striking geophysical differences relative to the surrounding county rocks. The two faults extend down along dip direction in a gentle wave form, and appear at some steps with different dips. These steps comprise favorable gold prospecting areas, consistent with a step metallogenic model. Six deep-seated gold-prospecting targets are delineated, i.e. Jincheng-Qianchenjia, Xiaoxizhuang-Zhaoxian, Xiyou-Wujiazhuangzi, Xiangyangling-Xinlicun, Panjiawuzi and Miaojia-Pinglidian.

The goal of this research study is to describe academic issues which have been debated in the field of Chinese geosciences for a century. In 1922, Jonquei S. Lee(Li Siguang) discovered Quaternary glacial relics at Taihang Mountainin eastern China. In 1947, he published his research findings in the magazine Mount Lushan in Glacial Age. The research results had established three Ice Ages: Poyang(Gonzi), Dagu(Minde), and Lushan(Lisi). However, at that time, no Wurm glacial relics of the last Ice Age had been found in Lushan Mountain. Since then, the research team represented by Shi Yafeng, who is considered to be "the father of glaciers in China", questioned Jonquei S. Lee’s research results and concluded that "Professor Jonquei S. Lee’s Quaternary glacier research in Lushan Mountain having misread the debris flow". In 2005, the "middle-low mountains" in eastern China were finally defined as follows: "We clearly and unambiguously believe that there were no glacial activities in the middle-low mountainous areas of eastern China(east of 102° to 104°E;below 3,000 and 2,500 m) during the Quaternary Period". Currently, the long-standing academic debate appears to have come to a conclusion. As of 2015, the author and others began to investigate and study the Quaternary glacial relics in Mengshan Mountain(1,156 m above sea level), shandong Province, one of the "middle-low mountains" of eastern China. The relics have been observed to posses the systematic features of glacial erosion, trough and valley striations, and moraine deposits. The applied dating method shave confirmed that there were not only glacial relics of the last Ice Age(Wurm), but also Holocene glacial relics in the Mengshan Mountain area. Therefore, in order to further establish the corresponding relationship between the glacier, loess, stream sediment series, and MIS in the Mengshan Mountain area, a large number of chronological studies have been carried out regarding the various types of sediments in the area

Introduction:Rodents are hosts of a wide range of zoonotic disease pathogens which threaten human ***,comprehensive investigations of rodent ecology and etiology in shandong are ***,we aimed to analyze rodent ecology and infection with relevant pathogens in shandong Province,***:Rodent survey data collected from 2012 to 2022 in shandong Province were used in this *** captured from 2020 to 2022 were identified to species and tested for ***:From 2012 to 2022,4,145 rodents were captured,with an average capture rate of 0.70%.High capture rates were observed in rural residential areas and other habitats,such as farmland and *** norvegicus(***)was the dominant species,followed by Mus musculus(***).The regions with the highest capture rates of *** were Dongying(0.82%)and Heze(0.63%),while *** was more prevalent in Dongying(0.81%)and Weihai(0.56%).Rodent capture rates were highest between March and *** positive detection rates of Hantavirus(HV),Leptospira interrogans(***),Rickettsia typhi(***),Anaplasma phagocytophilum(***),and Francisella tularensis(***)in rodents were 2.58%,1.10%,0.94%,0.16%,and 0.19%,***:The rodent capture rate in human habitation environments has trended downward in shandong Province,with *** and *** being the dominant *** infection risk from HV,***,and *** showed seasonal *** rodent surveillance and maintaining a low capture rate of host animals could be pivotal for preventing and controlling relevant rodent-borne diseases in high-risk areas.

The one-meter telescope at Weihai Observatory （WHO） of shandong University is an f/8 Cassegrain telescope. Three sets of filters are installed in a dual layer filterwheel that use Johnson-Cousins UBVRI, Sloan Digital Sky Survey u′g′r′i′z′ and Stomgren uvby. The photometric system and the CCD camera are introduced, followed by detailed analysis of their performances, and determination of the relevant parameters, including gain, readout noise, dark current and linearity of the CCD cam- era. In addition, the parameters describing the site＇s astro-climate, including typical seeing, statistics on the number of clear nights and average sky brightness, based on data gathered from Sep. 2007 to Aug. 2013, are systematically studied and reported in this work. Photometric calibrations were done using Landolt standard star obser- vations spanning eight nights, which yielded transformation coefficients, photometric precision and system throughput. The limiting magnitudes are simulated using the derived calibration parameters and classic observation conditions at WHO.

Introduction:Rabies is a viral zoonotic disease that causes progressive and fatal inflammation in the *** has caused more than 5,000 human deaths in shandong Province since *** study aimed to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of human rabies in shandong Province from 2010 to 2020 and to provide a scientific basis for policy ***:The data of reported human rabies cases from 2010 to 2020 were obtained from China’s National Notifiable Disease Reporting System,and data related to exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis(PEP)of the cases were acquired through case ***:A total of 414 human rabies cases were reported in shandong Province from 2010 to *** of the 414 total cases,87.20%were primarily farmers;83.10%were over 40 years old.70.29%(265/377)belonged to categoryⅢexposure;and 96.67%(377/390)were exposed to the virus through infected *** vaccine inoculation rate of these cases after exposure was only 8.85%;1.03%(4/390)had been vaccinated with rabies immunoglobulin,developing the disease 11 to 13 days after categoryⅢ***:Dogs were still the primary animal *** rabies patients died due to no or inadequate post-exposure *** inoculation rates for dogs should reach the target of 70%as soon as *** departments should improve the accessibility and quality of PEP;and improve the health literacy of the elderly in rural areas.
