Statistical Analyses of Wave Height Distribution for Multidirectional Irregular Waves over A Sloping Bottom

The main objective of this paper is to examine the influences of both the principal wave direction and the directional spreading parameter of the wave energy on the wave height evolution of multidirectional irregular waves over an impermeable sloping bottom and to propose an improved wave height distribution model based on an existing classical *** numerical model FUNWAVE 2.0,based on a fully nonlinear Boussinesq equation,is employed to simulate the propagation of multidirectional irregular waves over the sloping *** of wave heights derived from wave trains with various principal wave directions and different directional spreading parameters are *** show that both the principal wave direction and the wave directional spread have significant influences on the wave height evolution on a varying coastal *** shoaling effect for the wave height is obviously weakened with the increase of the principal wave direction and with the decrease of the directional spreading *** the simulated data,the classical Klopman wave height distribution model is improved by considering the influences of both *** is found that the improved model performs better in describing the wave height distribution for the multidirectional irregular waves in shallow water.

CuS nanoenzyme against bacterial infection by in situ hydroxyl radical generation on bacteria surface

Nanoenzyme-mediated antibacterial strategies have been widely exploited to overcome the shortcomings(such as drug resistance and mild-to-severe side effects) of antibiotic *** peroxidase-like activity of nanoenzymes possesses great potential against bacterial infection by the generation of hydroxyl radical(·OH) in the specific ***,the lifetime of-OH is extremely short,and a large amount of the ·OH generated within the infection microenvironment cannot come into contact with bacteria quickly enough,thus resulting in low treatment ***,chitosan-oligosaccharide-modified CuS nanoparticles possessing positive charges(PCuS NPs) were prepared using a one-pot *** NPs exhibited efficient peroxidase-like ***,the PCuS NPs can combine with bacteria via electrostatic *** direct contact between the PCuS NPs and bacteria enabled the generation of ·OH in situ on the bacterial surface,ultimately leading to a high antibacterial efficacy at a low concentration in the presence of H_(2)O_(2).At an effective antibacterial concentration,the PCuS NPs exhibited high ***,in vivo results revealed that PCuS NPs not only decreased the size of abscesses but also reduced inflammation and promoted collagen fiber ***,PCuS NPs possess great potential against bacterial infection via in situ ·OH generation based on electrostatic attraction.

When the upper chord beam of the beam-string structure(BSS)is made of concrete-ﬁlled steel tube(CFST),its overall stiffness will change greatly with the construction of concrete placement,which will have an impact on the design of the tensioning plans and selection of control measures for the *** order to accurately obtain the bending stiffness of CFST beam and clarify its impact on the mechanical properties of composite BSS during con-struction,the inﬂuence of some factors such as height-width ratio,wall thickness of steel tube,elasticity modulus of concrete,and friction coefﬁcient on the bending stiffness are analyzed parametrically by the numerical simula-tion technology based on an actual *** calculation formula of the equivalent bending stiffness of CFST is also established through mathematical statistical ***,the equivalent bending stiffness is introduced into the construction and use stages of the composite BSS,respectively,and the mechanical properties such as prestress-tensioning control value,structural deformation,and internal force of key members are comparatively analyzed when adopting two different construction ***,the optimal construction plan of concrete placementﬁrst and then prestress-tensioning is proposed.

Evolution of microstructure and intervariant boundaries ofαphase in electron beam melted and heat-treated Ti-6Al-4V alloy

It is important to understand the correlation between grain morphology and intervariant boundaries of theαphase after heat treatment belowβtransus of the electron beam melted(EBMed)Ti-6 Al-4 V *** electron microscopy(SEM)and electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)analysis have shown about 99%αphase and 1%βphase in the heat-treated samples when the temperature rises to 950℃.Four distinct types ofαgrain morphology have been found:allotromorphousα,relatively coarseαplate,large precipitationαand granularα.A single peak of the intervariant boundary with the misorientation of 60°/[1120]associated with Burgers orientation relationship(OR)was found in the allotromorphousα*** intervariant boundaries mixed with a fraction of general high-angle grain boundary(GHABs,not Burgers OR)were present in the relatively coarseαplate *** only low-angle grain boundaries(LABs)with the misorientation of<5°were found in the large precipitationαgrains.βphase tends to distribute around the boundaries of relatively coarseα*** suggests that different formation mechanisms are involved in the distinct types ofαgrain morphology.

Treatment of Phenol-Contaminated Soil by Potassium Ferrate Based on pH Control

This study aims to optimize the treatment of phenol-contaminated soil by potassium ferrate. Variations in pH value can accurately reflect the state and reaction status of the entire treatment process. Therefore, the pH value could be an important variable for optimizing the reaction conditions and achieving the automatic control of the process. About 99.89% of phenol was removed after 10 min of the pH-contxolled reaction at a rotational speed of 40-70 r/min, with the initial phenol concentration equating to 10.0 g/kg and the total water consumption reaching 2.72 L （at a soil/water ratio of 1：0.68）. The test results could provide a basis for practical application of automatic reaction control by pH value.

The damping properties were improved by preparing Al matrix composites reinforced with glass cenospheres through the pressure infiltration *** electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were employed to characterize the microstructure of the *** low-frequency damping properties were examined by using a dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer,aiming at exploring the changing trend of damping capacity with strain,temperature,and *** findings demonstrated that the damping value rose as temperature and strain increased,with a maximum value of ***,the damping value decreased when the frequency *** damping under strain and interfacial damping under temperature served as the two primary damping *** increase in the density of dislocation strong pinning points following heat treatment reduced the damping value,which was attributed to the heat treatment enhancement of the interfacial bonding force of the composites.

Comparison of UV-based advanced oxidation processes for the removal of different fractions of NOM from drinking water

This study examined the effectiveness for degradation of hydrophobic (HPO),transphilic(TPI) and hydrophilic (HPI) fractions of natural organic matter (NOM) during UV/H_(2)O_(2),UV/TiO_(2)and UV/K2S2O8(UV/PS) advanced oxidation processes (AOPs).The changing characteristics of NOM were evaluated by dissolved organic carbon (DOC),the specific UV absorbance (SUVA),trihalomethanes formation potential (THMFP),organic halogen adsorbable on activated carbon formation potential (AOXFP) and parallel factor analysis of excitation–emission matrices (PARAFAC-EEMs).In the three UV-based AOPs,HPI fraction with low molecular weight and aromaticity was more likely to degradate than HPO and TPI,and the removal efficiency of SUVA for HPO was much higher than TPI and HPI *** terms of the specific THMFP of HPO,TPI and HPI,a reduction was achieved in the UV/H_(2)O_(2)process,and the higest removal rate even reached to 83%.UV/TiO_(2)and UV/PS processes can only decrease the specific THMFP of *** specific AOXFP of HPO,TPI and HPI fractions were all able to be degraded by the three UV-based AOPs,and HPO content is more susceptible to decompose than TPI and HPI ***/H_(2)O_(2)was found to be the most effective treatment for the removal of THMFP and AOXFP under given conditions.C1 (microbial or marine derived humic-like substances),C_(2) (terrestrially derived humic-like substances)and C_(3) (tryptophan-like proteins) fluorescent components of HPO fraction were fairly labile across the UV-based AOPs treatment.C_(3) of each fraction of NOM was the most resistant to degrade upon the UV-based *** from this study may provide the prediction about the consequence of UV-based AOPs for the degradation of different fractions of NOM with varied characteristics.

Bond Mechanical Properties of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer Anti-Floating Anchor in Concrete Baseplate

Combined with fiber Bragg grating(FBG)sensing technology,four glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP)anti-floating anchors and four steel anti-floating anchors were tested for on-site destructive failure to investigate the anchoring performance and the bonding characteristics between GFRP anti-floating anchor and concrete *** test results show that bending GFRP anchor will be broken at the common boundary between vertical anchorage section and bending section during the pullout process,and the spring-back load provided by the rupture contributes to a decrease of bearing capacity and an inflection point on the load-slip *** loaddisplacement curve of the straight anchor GFRP anti-floating anchor is smoother and has better predictability than the same type of steel ***,different forms of GFRP anti-floating bolt have different bondslip constitutive *** introducing the sliding-slip correction factor of bending bolt,constitutive models describing the rising-section of sliding-slip relation of bending and straight-anchored GFRP anti-floating bolt are established *** model can fit the test results rightly.

Deformation features and failure mechanism of steep rock slope under the mining activities and rainfall

Underground mining activities and rainfall have potential important influence on the initiation and reactivation of the slope deformations,especially on the steep rock slope. In this paper,using the discrete element method(UDEC),numerical simulation was carried out to investigate deformation features and the failure mechanism of the steep rock slope under mining activities and rainfall. A steep rock slope numerical model was created based on a case study at the Wulong area in Chongqing city,China. Mechanical parameters of the rock mass have been determined by situ measurements and laboratory measurements. A preliminary site monitoring system has been realized,aiming at getting structure movements and stresses of unstablerock masses at the most significant discontinuities. According to the numerical model calibrated based on the monitoring data,four types of operation conditions are designed to reveal the effect of mining excavation and extreme rainfall on the deformation of the steep rock slope.

The solidification behavior and intermetallic phase evolution during homogenization annealing of an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy with 0.12 wt%Ce addition were *** residual Al_(2)CuMg phase is completely dissolved after homogenization and is replaced by a large number of dispersed micro/nanoscaled AlCuCe enrichment phases within Al *** change occurs because of the formation of a large number of finer lamellar eutectic network structures which are more easily dissolved into Al matrix during the homogenization *** addition,the trapping of Cu atoms in the stable AlCuCe phase also prevents the formation of Al_(2)CuMg phase,leading to the complete dissolution of Al_(2)CuMg phase in the Al-Zn-MgCu *** grain refinement behavior in Al alloy with Ce addition is similar to that in alloys with the addition of Sc,because of the formation of primary Ce-enriched Al_(11)Ce_(3)phase as the nucleation agent ofα(Al)during solidification.
