Metamorphic Evolution and Zircon U-Pb Ages of the Nanshankou Mafic High Pressure Granulites from the Jiaobei Terrane, North China Craton

Petrological analysis and LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating were conducted on high- pressure marie granulites, which occured as xenolith within TTG gneisses, from the Nanshankou Village of the Jiaobei terrane, shandong Peninsula in the north-eastern part of the North China Craton （NCC）. The mafic HP grannlite is composed of garnet, clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, amphibole and symplectitic clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, plagioclase, ilmente and magnetite which were formed after the decomposition of porphyroblastic garnet and clinopyroxene. Four stages of metamorphic mineral assemblages for the mafic HP granulites were constrained by detail petrological and mineralogical in- vestigations. The early prograde assemblage is represented by the mineral inclusions within garnet and clinopyroxene porphyroblasts （Opx1＋Pl1＋Qtz1）, recording the metamorphic conditions at -754-757 ℃, 0.63-0.71 GPa; peak metamorphic conditions were determined at -874-891 ℃, 1.32-1.35 GPa with the mineral assemblage of Grt2＋Cpx2＋Amp2＋Pl2＋Qtz2. Retrograde minerals derived from symplectitic assemblage Opx3＋Cpx3＋Amp3＋Pl3＋Qtz3＋Ilm3±Mag3 were formed at 693-796℃, 0.60-0.84 GPa. A final greensehist to sub-greenschist facies event was recorded by the exsolution of actinolite and albite within a retrograded clinopyroxene, as well as the occurrence of prehnite, chlorite and calcite minerals. Accordingly, a clockwise P-T path was concluded on the basis of the different stages of mineral asseblage. Cathodoluminescence imaging, trace element and U-Pb dating of zircons from the mafic HP granulites recorded similar charactistics for three episodes of Paleo-Meso Proterozoic metamorphic events. These are the metamorphic events preserved in mafic and pelitic granulites in the Jiao-Liao-Ji belt （JLJB） with 207 pb/206pb ages of 2.0-1.9 Ga for peak metamorphism and of 1.86-1.84 Ga for decomposing process, followed by a retrograde amphibolite facies metamorphic event related to the post-orogenic extension at the age of 1.76-1.

Trace Elements of Multi-stage minerals and Titanite U-Pb Dating for the Gneisses from Liansan Island,Sulu UHPM Belt

Gneisses with anatectic characteristics from the Liansan island in the Sulu UHPM(ultra-high pressure metamorphic)belt were studied for petrography,titanite U-Pb dating and mineral *** origins of garnets are distinguished:metamorphic garnet,peritectic garnet and anatectic garnet,which are formed in the stages of peak metamorphism,retrograde anatexis and melt crystallization,*** euhedral titanite has a high content of REE and high Th/U ratios,which is interpreted as indicating that it was newly-formed from an anatectic *** LA-ICP-MS titanite U-Pb dating yields 214-217 Ma ages for the titanite(melt)*** distribution of trace elements varies in response to the different host minerals at different *** the peak metamorphic stage,Y and HREE are mainly hosted by garnet,Ba and Rb by phengite,Sr,Nb,Ta,Pb,Th,U and LREE by allanite and Y,U and HREE by *** partial melting,Y,Pb,Th,U and REE are released into the melt,which causes a dramatic decline of these element contents in the retrograde ***,titanite absorbs most of the Nb,U,LREE and HREE from the ***,the different stages of metamorphism have different mineral assemblages,which host different trace elements.

Geochemistry and sedimentology of sediments in a short fluvial system,NW China:implications to the provenance and tectonic setting

Six outcrop sections in Fenghe River,Northwestern China,were sampled and *** study aims to determine provenance,tectonic setting,and source-area paleoweathering of the sediments of Fenghe River in combination of lithofacies analysis and bulk-rock geochemical *** lithofacies in the studied area were classified as gravel,sand,and fine-grained clastic lithofacies,reflecting generally channel fill deposits,channel bar deposits,and over-bank deposits,*** Chemical Index of Alteration(CIA),Plagioclase Index of Alteration(PIA),and Chemical Index of Weathering(CIW)values ranged 50.10–62.29,50.13–66.35,56.52–71.12,respectively,together with element ratios such as Rb/Sr,K/Na,Rb/K,Th/K,Rb/Ti,and Cs/Ti indicate that the source area was under a low to moderate chemical weathering condition probably in cold and semi-arid ***,plot of SiO_(2)vs.(Al_(2)O_(3)+K_(2)O+Na_(2)O)suggests that the sediments were deposited in a semi-arid *** of Cr/Th ***/Sc,TiO_(2)***,La/Yb *** earth element(REE),and La-Th-Sc ternary diagrams,along with the lithology,indicate that the sediments in Fenghe River were mainly originated from felsic igneous *** elements-based discrimination diagrams and Th-Sc-Zr/10 and La-Th-Sc ternary diagram of the samples indicates that the source rocks of Fenghe River developed in a composite active continental margin and continental island arc field.

Ultrahigh Temperature Metamorphic Record of Pelitic Granulites in the Huangtuyao Area of the Huai’an Complex,North China Craton

Pelitic granulite from the Huangtuyao area,occurrs in the Huai'an Complex,is located in the Trans-North China Orogen of the North China *** the basis of petrolography,mineral component,and phase equilibrium modeling studies,the P-T conditions and mineral assemblages of pelitic granulites can be divided into four metamorphic stages:the prograde metamorphic stage M1 defined by the stable mineral assemblage of Grt1(garnet core)+Pl+Bt+Kfs+Qz+Rt,the peak pressure Pmax stage M2 indicated by Grt2(garnet mantle)+Kfs±(Ky)+Rt+Qz+Liq(melt),peak temperature Tmax stage M3 characterized by Grt3(garnet rim)+Sill+Pl+Kfs+Qz+Ilm+Liq,and retrograde stage M4 represented by Grt(in matrix)+Kfs+Sill+Bt+Pl+Qz+*** using the THERMOCALC V340,the P-T conditions are estimated at^13.8–14.1 kbar and^840–850℃at stage M2,and 7–7.2 kbar and 909–915℃for the Tmax stage M3,indicating an ultra-high temperature(UHT)metamorphic overprinting during decompression and heating process after high pressure granulite facies *** mineral assemblages and their P-T conditions presented a clockwise P-T trajectory for the Huangtuyao pelitic *** major metamorphic events at^1.95 and^1.88 Ga obtained by the zircon U-Pb dating suggest that pelitic granulites from the Huangtuyao area has undergone HP granulite metamorphism which probably occurred in the prograde metamorphism and related to the collision between the Ordos and the Yinshan blocks,and afterwards UHT metamorphism is related to crustal extension after continental-continental collision.

Petrology,Metamorphic P-T Paths and Zircon U-Pb Ages for Paleoproterozoic Mafic Granulites from Xuanhua,North China Craton

The studied mafic granulites are located at Xiwangshan,Xuanhua region in the north of the Trans-North China Orogen(TNCO),occurring as lens within tonalite-trondhjemite-granodiorite(TTG)gneisses in the eastern part of the Xiwangshan *** rocks contain the representative granulite-facies minerals such as garnet,clinopyroxene,orthopyroxene,plagioclase,amphibolite,rutile and quartz,and also well-developed melt pseudomorph and *** the prograde metamorphic stage(M1)cannot be retrieved due to rare preservation of pre-peak-stage mineral associations,three distinct mineral assemblages that formed in different metamorphic stages can be identified,based on petrography and mineralogy *** peak stage(M2)is characterized by Grt2+Cpx2+Amp2+Pl2+Rt+melt pseudomorphs,and a post-peak decompression stage(M3)contains a mineral assemblage of Grt3+Opx3+Cpx3+Amp3+Pl3,while a later-retrogression stage(M4)is featured by coronas of Amp4+Pl4 surrounding *** calculating metamorphic P-T conditions using THERMOCALC,stage M2 was constrained to be 13.2–14.8 kbar and 1050–1080℃,and M3 recorded P-T conditions of 5.7–7.3 kbar and 825–875℃,while M4 yielded P of^5 kbar and T of^660℃,consistent with amphibolite facies *** into account of all these petrological data,we propose that the mafic granulite experienced a high-pressure(HP)and ultra-high temperature(UHT)granulite-facies metamorphism during the peak metamorphism,which was accompanied with a clockwise P-T path.U-Pb dating of metamorphic zircons in the granulites yields two groups of ages at 1853±14 and 1744±44 Ma,*** suggest that the older age corresponded to the HP-UHT metamorphism,while the younger age represented an retrograde metamorphic event during cooling.

Record of Early-Stage Rodingitization from the Purang Ophiolite Complex,Western Tibet

Rodingitization,commonly coupled with serpentinization of ultramafic rocks,bears significant information for fluid-rock interactions and element transfer from sea-floor to subduction zone *** outcrops of rodingites are exposed along the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone(YZSZ)of southern Tibet,providing us an excellent opportunity to probe the petrogenetic processes,and unravel their implications for regional tectonic *** studies have been performed on rodingites from the eastern to central portions of the YZSZ,whereas limited work has ever been conducted on rodingitized rocks from the western segment of the YZSZ,precluding a comprehensive understanding of this lithological *** this paper,we present detailed studies of petrology,mineral,whole-rock geochemistry and phase equilibrium modeling on a suite of newly recognized rodingites within the Purang ophiolite massif in the southwestern part of the *** rodingites have a major metasomatic mineral association of chlorite,clinozoisite,amphibole and minor amounts of plagioclase,representing products of an early-stage *** generally present compositions of low SiO2(48.89 wt.%–53.57 wt.%),Fe2O3^T(3.77 wt.%–5.56 wt.%),Na2O(1.31 wt.%–1.93 wt.%),Al2O3(4.78 wt.%–8.84 wt.%),moderate CaO(9.69 wt.%–11.23 wt.%),and high MgO(24.11 wt.%–26.08 wt.%)concentrations with extremely high Mg^# values[Mg^#=100×Mg/(Mg+Fe^2+)molar]of 89–***-rock recalculation reveals that the rodingites have a protolith of mantle-derived olivine gabbro or *** have low rare earth element compositions(∑REE=2.4 ppm–6.5 ppm)and are characterized by flat LREE and slightly enriched HREE patterns with positive Eu anomalies;they also exhibit positive anomalies in Sr,U and Pb and negative anomalies in high-field strength elements,including Nb,P and Ti,suggesting for a subduction-zone *** equilibrium modeling shows that the rodingitization did take place at P<2 kbar and T=~350–400℃,consiste

The clinopyroxene amphibolite from the Bailang terrane is located in the central section of the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone(YZSZ),southern *** study of it is expected to provide important clues for the subduction of the Neo-Tethyan Ocean below the Asian Plate and thus for better understanding of the development of the India-Asia collision *** on integrated textural,mineral compositional,metamorphic reaction history and geothermobarometric studies of the clinopyroxene amphibolite within a serpentinite mélange,four overprinted metamorphic stages are *** are the first metamorphic record of M1 stage indicated by a relict assemblage of plagioclase+clinopyroxene+amphibole,an early M2 stage characterized by an assemblage of medium-grained clinopyroxene+amphibole+plagioclase+quartz as well as rutile inclusion in titanite,which is formed during burial process,an isobaric cooling M3 stage which is characterized by an assemblage of clinopyroxene+amphibole+plagioclase+titanite,and a decomposing retrograde stage M4,which is represented by the amphibolite+plagioclase symplectite+titanite+rutile+*** applying the THERMOCALC(versions 6.2 and 6.3)technique in the NCFMASHTO system,the P-T conditions estimated from M1 to M4 stages are ca.8.6 kbar/880℃,10.8–13.4 kbar/800–840℃,12.7–13.2 kbar/650–660℃ andmineral assemblages and their P-T conditions define a counterclockwise P-T path for the clinopyroxene amphibolite of the Xigaze ophiolite,suggesting that the rocks underwent a cooling process during burial from magmatic protolith,and a decompressing stage after the pressure peak metamorphic conditions,which implies that the Bailang terrane of the Xigaze ophiolite may have experienced subduction/collision-related tectonic *** peak metamorphism reaches to the transitional P-T conditions among amphibolite facies,granulite facies and eclogite facies with a burial depth of 30–40 *** exhumation of the ophiolitic unit

Geochemical characteristics of aromatic hydrocarbons in crude oils from the Linnan Subsag, shandong Province, China

Abundant aromatic fractions were detected in oils from the Linnan subsag, including aphthalenes, phenanthrenes, triaromatic steroids, biphenyl, fluorenes, dibenzothiophenes, dibenzofuranes, as well as some typical higher plant-sourced compounds, such as pyrene, benzopyrene, fluoranthene, chryaene, benzofluoranthrene, perylene and cadalene. Occurrences of biomarkers indicate that oils from the Linnan subsag are typical terrestrially genetic oils. Developed in the depositional environment is a strong reduction condition typical of brackish-saline lake. Thermal evolution has entered into the mature-high mature stage.
