An Upwind Mixed Finite Volume Element-fractional Step Method and Convergence Analysis for Three-dimensional Compressible Contamination Treatment from Nuclear Waste

In this paper the authors discuss a numerical simulation problem of three-dimensional compressible contamination treatment from nuclear waste. The mathematical model, a nonlinear convection-diffusion system of four PDEs, determines four major physical unknowns: the pressure, the concentrations of brine and radionuclide, and the temperature. The pressure is solved by a conservative mixed finite volume element method, and the computational accuracy is improved for Darcy velocity. Other unknowns are computed by a composite scheme of upwind approximation and mixed finite volume element. Numerical dispersion and nonphysical oscillation are eliminated, and the convection-dominated diffusion problems are solved well with high order computational accuracy. The mixed finite volume element is conservative locally, and get the objective functions and their adjoint vector functions simultaneously. The conservation nature is an important character in numerical simulation of underground fluid. Fractional step difference is introduced to solve the concentrations of radionuclide factors, and the computational work is shortened significantly by decomposing a three-dimensional problem into three successive one-dimensional problems. By the theory and technique of a priori estimates of differential equations, we derive an optimal order estimates in L2norm. Finally, numerical examples show the effectiveness and practicability for some actual problems.

Bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID) is a bandwidth efficient trans- mission scheme which is well suitable for next-generation mobile communications. The interleaver design is critical to the high performance of BICM-ID. In this paper we investigate the application of the chaos theory to the interleaver design to further improve the performance of BICM-ID. A new interleaving scheme based on the chaos theory is proposed. Compared with the random interleaver, the proposed approach has the ad- vantages including lower system delay and higher transmission efficiency. Simulation results in both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and Rayleigh fading channel are provided, which demonstrates that the new interleaver is better than the random interleaver and exhibits excellent performance when applied to the BICM-ID system.

Constructing highly-efficient electrocatalysts toward hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)/oxygen evolution reaction(OER)/oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)with excellent stability is quite important for the development of renewable energy-related ***,Co-Ru based compounds supported on nitrogen doped two-dimensional(2D)carbon nanosheets(NCN)are developed via one step pyrolysis procedure(Co-Ru/NCN)for HER/ORR and following low-temperature oxidation process(Co-Ru@RuO_(x)/NCN)for *** specific 2D morphology guarantees abundant active sites ***,the synergistic effects arising from the interaction between Co and Ru are crucial in enhancing the catalytic ***,the resulting Co-Ru/NCN shows remarkable electrocatalytic performance for HER(70 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2))in 1 M KOH and ORR(half-wave potential E_(1/2)=0.81 V)in 0.1 M ***,the Co-Ru@RuO_(x)/NCN obtained by oxidation exhibits splendid OER performance in both acid(230 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2))and alkaline media(270 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2))coupled with excellent ***,the fabricated two-electrode water-splitting device exhibits excellent performance in both acidic and alkaline *** research provides a promising avenue for the advancement of multifunctional nanomaterials.

White Light Photorefractive Phase Zone Plates

Incoherent white light from an incandescent source is employed to fabricate volume phase zone plates in LiNbO3：Fe, for the first time to our knowledge, which can guide and modulate the input white light or laser light. The diffractive efficiency of the white light volume phase zone plates fabricated can reach as high as 12%. In addition, we test the volume phase zone plates by a probe beam and find that the volume phase zone plate is present in the direction perpendicular to the c-axis and absent in the direction parallel to the c-axis. This directly proves the existence of photovoltaic photorefractive anisotropy of white light.

RecStitchNet:Learning to stitch images with rectangular boundaries

Irregular boundaries in image stitching naturally occur due to freely moving *** deal with this problem,existing methods focus on optimizing mesh warping to make boundaries regular using the traditional explicit ***,previous methods always depend on hand-crafted features(e.g.,keypoints and line segments).Thus,failures often happen in overlapping regions without distinctive *** this paper,we address this problem by proposing RecStitchNet,a reasonable and effective network for image stitching with rectangular *** that both stitching and imposing rectangularity are non-trivial tasks in the learning-based framework,we propose a three-step progressive learning based strategy,which not only simplifies this task,but gradually achieves a good balance between stitching and imposing *** the first step,we perform initial stitching by a pre-trained state-of-the-art image stitching model,to produce initially warped stitching results without considering the boundary ***,we use a regression network with a comprehensive objective regarding mesh,perception,and shape to further encourage the stitched meshes to have rectangular boundaries with high content ***,we propose an unsupervised instance-wise optimization strategy to refine the stitched meshes iteratively,which can effectively improve the stitching results in terms of feature alignment,as well as boundary and structure *** to the lack of stitching datasets and the difficulty of label generation,we propose to generate a stitching dataset with rectangular stitched images as pseudo-ground-truth labels,and the performance upper bound induced from the it can be broken by our unsupervised *** and quantitative results and evaluations demonstrate the advantages of our method over the state-of-the-art.
