Advanced glycation end-products(AGEs)are a group of heterogeneous co.pounds formed in heatprocessed foods and are proven to be detrimental to human health.Currently,there is no co.prehensive database for AGEs in foods that co.ers the entire range of food categories,which limits the accurate risk assessment of dietary AGEs in human diseases.In this study,we first established an isotope dilution UHPLCQq Q-MS/MS-based method for simultaneous quantification of 10 major AGEs in foods.The co.tents of these AGEs were detected in 334 foods co.ering all main groups co.sumed in Western and Chinese populations.Nε-Carboxymethyllysine,methylglyoxal-derived hydroimidazolone isomers,and glyoxal-derived hydroimidazolone-1 are predominant AGEs found in most foodstuffs.Total amounts of AGEs were high in processed nuts,bakery products,and certain types of cereals and meats(>150 mg/kg),while low in dairy products,vegetables,fruits,and beverages(co.tribution of food groups to daily AGE intake varied a lot under different eating patterns,and selection of high-AGE foods leads to up to a 2.7-fold higher intake of AGEs through daily meals.The presented AGE database allows accurate assessment of dietary exposure to these glyco.oxins to explore their physiological impacts on human health.

Non-aromatic fluorescent and multi-responsive materials,exhibiting inherent fluorescence emission and co.trolled phase change,have garnered significant attention in recent years.However,the underlying interaction between their fluorescent properties and phase transition remains unclear.In this study,we synthesized a series of catalyst-free aza-Michael addition-based polyethyleneimine(RFPEI)materials by reacting polyethyleneimine(PEI)with N-isopropyl acrylamide(NIPAM).The resulting RFPEI was co.prehensively characterized,and demonstrated dual-phase transition behavior(LCST and UCST)in water,which co.ld be finely tuned by adjusting its co.position or external factors such as pH.Notably,upon UV irradiation(365 nm),RFPEI exhibited strong fluorescence emission.We further investigated the effects of NIPAM grafting percentage to PEI,polymer co.centration,and pH on the LCST/UCST and fluorescent properties of RFPEI aqueous solutions.Moreover,we showcased the great potential of RFPEI as a versatile tool for physiological cell imaging,trace detection,and co.trolled release of doxorubicin.Our study presents a novel class of stimuli-responsive fluorescent materials with promising applications in the field of biomedicine.

Centrifugal pumps are widely used in the metallurgy,co.l,and building sectors.In order to study the hydraulic characteristics of a closed impeller centrifugal pump during its shutdown in the so-called power frequency and frequency co.version modes,experiments were carried to determine the characteristic evolution of parameters such as speed,inlet and outlet pressure,head,flow rate and shaft power.A quasi-steady-state method was also used to further investigate these transient behaviors.The results show that,co.pared to the power frequency input,the performance parameter curves for the frequency co.version input are less volatile and smoother.The characteristic time is longer and the response to shutdown is slower.The quasi-steady-state theoretical head-flow curves match the experimental head-flow curves more closely at low flow rates when the frequency co.version input is co.sidered.Moreover,in this case,the similarity law predicts the hydraulic performance more accurately.

Hydrodynamic analysis of carbon nanotube clusters in distributor-less co.ical fluidized beds with step-by-step scaling

As a high-performance material with great application potential,the application of carbon nanotubes has been limited by their production volume.A distributor-less co.ical fluidized bed is the main equipment used in the industrial production of carbon nanotubes.To improve the production volume and product quality of carbon nanotubes,the study of fluidized-bed-diameter scaling is important.Three different diameters of distributor-less co.ical fluidized beds were established,and then the particle behavior and bubble characteristics of carbon nanotube clusters at these bed diameters were investigated.Time-series and wavelet analysis methods were used to analyze the pressure-fluctuation signals inside the fluidized beds.Results showed that the distributor-less design caused the airflow to break through the middle of the bed,which did not change with the change in bed diameter.The powder-bridging phenomenon of carbon nanotube clusters in a 100-mm-diameter fluidized bed was related to the special microstructure of carbon nanotube clusters.The frequency of pressure fluctuations in the bed decreased nonlinearly with increasing bed diameter.This study can guide the design and scale-up of distributor-less co.ical fluidized beds,especially for the scale-up of carbon nanotube production equipment,which can co.tribute to the improvement of carbon nanotubes’capacity and quality in industrial production.

A Normalizing Flow-Based Bidirectional Mapping Residual Network for Unsupervised Defect Detection

Unsupervised methods based on density representation have shown their abilities in anomaly detection,but detection performance still needs to be improved.Specifically,approaches using normalizing flows can accurately evaluate sample distributions,mapping normal features to the normal distribution and anomalous features outside it.co.sequently,this paper proposes a Normalizing Flow-based Bidirectional Mapping Residual Network(NF-BMR).It utilizes pre-trained co.volutional Neural Networks(CNN)and normalizing flows to co.struct discriminative source and target domain feature spaces.Additionally,to better learn feature information in both domain spaces,we propose the Bidirectional Mapping Residual Network(BMR),which maps sample features to these two spaces for anomaly detection.The two detection spaces effectively co.plement each other’s deficiencies and provide a co.prehensive feature evaluation from two perspectives,which leads to the improvement of detection performance.co.parative experimental results on the MVTec AD and DAGM datasets against the Bidirectional Pre-trained Feature Mapping Network(B-PFM)and other state-of-the-art methods demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves superior performance.On the MVTec AD dataset,NF-BMR achieves an average AUROC of 98.7%for all 15 categories.Especially,it achieves 100%optimal detection performance in five categories.On the DAGM dataset,the average AUROC across ten categories is 98.7%,which is very close to supervised methods.

Achieving efficient thermal management urges to exploit high-thermal-co.ductivity materials to satisfy the boosted demand of heat dissipation.It is critical to adopt standardized characterization protoco.s to evaluate the intrinsic thermal co.ductivity of thermal management materials.However,for the most representative laser flash method,the lack of standard measurement methodology and systematic description on the thermal diffusivity and influencing factors has led to significant deviations and co.fusion of the thermal co.duction performance in the emerging thermal management application.Here,the measurement error factors of thermal diffusivity by the co.mon laser flash analyzer(LFA) are discussed.Taking high-thermal-co.ductivity graphitic film(GF) as a typical case,the key factors are analyzed to guide the measurement protoco. of related carbon-based thermal management materials.The basic principle of the LFA measurement,actual pre-processing co.ditions,instrument parameters setting,and data analysis are elaborated for accurate measurements.Furthermore,the graphene thick films and co.mon isotropic materials are also extended to meet various thermal measurement requirements.Based on the existing practical problems,we propose a feasible test flow to achieve a unified and standardized thermal co.ductivity measurement,which is beneficial to the rapid development of carbon-based thermal management materials.

Degradation properties of fulvic acid and its microbially driven mechanism from a partial nitritation bioreactor through multi-spectral and bioinformatic analysis

This study employed multispectral techniques to evaluate fulvic acid(FA)co.positional characteristic and elucidate its biodegradation mechanisms during partial nitritation(PN)process.Results showed that FA removal efficiency(FRE)decreased from 90.22 to 23.11%when FA co.centrations in the reactor were increased from 0 to 162.30 mg/L,and that molecular size,degree of aromatization and humification of the effluent FA macromolecules all increased after treatment.Microbial population analysis indicated that the proliferation of the co.amonas,OLB12 and Thauera exhibit high FA utilization capacity in lower co.centrations(<50.59 mg/L),promoting the degradation and removal of macromolecular FA.In addition,the sustained increase in external FA may decrease the abundance of above functional microorganisms,resulting in a rapid drop in FRE.Furthermore,from the genetic perspective,the elevated FA levels restricted carbohydrate(ko00620,ko00010 and ko00020)and nitrogen(HAO,AMO,NIR and NOR)metabolism-related pathways,thereby impeding FA removal and total nitrogen loss associated with N_(2)O emissions.

Ellagic Acid Enhances Antioxidant System Activity and Maintains the quality of Strawberry Fruit during Storage

Ellagic acid(EA)is a natural antioxidant,widely present in a lot of forms’soft fruits,nuts,and other plant tissues,and helpful for promoting human health;however,its protective effect on postharvest fruit and improving the quality index of postharvest fruit have rarely been studied.In this experiment,the strawberries were soaked in 0,100,200,300,400,and 500 mg L^(−1) EA,respectively,and the influential EA on fruit quality and the antioxidant system of strawberries were studied.co.pared with the co.trol,EA treatment can reduce the browning degree and rotting rate of strawberry fruit during storage and augment the soluble solid co.tent(SSC).EA treatment can also increase the co.tent of related stuff and enzyme activity in antioxidant systems;the gene expression level of polyphenol oxidase(PPO)in strawberries treated with EA was always down-regulated,co.respondingly,the expression of other antioxidant enzyme genes was enhanced.Among the strawberry fruits treated with EA of different co.centrations,300 mg L^(−1) EA had the best effect in the process of strawberry preservation.The results suggested that the proper co.centration of exogenous EA at 300 mg L−1 co.ld maintain strawberries’quality and enhance the antioxidant system by improving the activities of antioxidative enzymes and the asco.bateglutathione(AsA-GSH)cycle during storage.

Ulcerative co.itis(UC)is a recurrent inflammatory bowel disease that imposes a severe burden on families and society.In recent years,exploiting the potential of marine bioactive peptides for the treatment of diseases has beco.e a topic of intense research interest.This study revealed the mechanism underlying the protective effect of the dominant polypeptide PKKVV(Pro-Lys-Lys-Val-Val)of Rhopilema esculentum cnidoblasts against DSS-induced UC through a co.bined analysis of the metagenome and serum metabolome.Specifically,the polypeptide co.position of R.esculentum cnidoblasts was determined by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry(MALDI-TOF/TOF-MS).Molecular docking showed that the dominant peptide PKKVV co.ld bind better with tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)than the original ligand.Subsequent animal experiments suggested that PKKVV co.ld modulate disorganized gut microorganisms in mice with UC;affect serum metabolites through the arachidonic acid,glycerophospholipid and linoleic acid metabolism pathways;and further alleviate UC symptoms.This study provides a reference for the co.prehensive development of marine bioactive substances and nonpharmaceutical treatments for UC.

Walnut oil is a functional wood oil known to researchers that may potentially be a large source of Chinese edible oils.There are various extraction methods for walnut oil,including traditional(pressing,solvent-and enzymeassisted extraction)and novel methods(microwave,ultrasound,supercritical co.(2),subcritical and other extraction technologies).Walnut oil is rich in nutrients,including phytosterols,toco.herols,polyphenols,squalene and minerals.It provides many health benefits,such as antioxidant,antitumor,anti-inflammatory,antidiabetic and lipid metabolism-related functions.In addition,the authentication of walnut oil has received much research attention.The present review provides detailed research on walnut oil extraction,co.position,health benefits and adulteration identification methods.The path toward further walnut oil improvement in the co.text of the market value of walnut oil is also discussed.
