There is little doubt that statins reduce cardiovascular events more than what the lipid lowering effect can account for. Additional mechanisms have been postulated including the anti-inflammatory effects manifested by reduced C-reactive protein (CRP). It is not known, however, whether statins can decrease CRP in Chinese population. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of statins on serum CRP in Chinese patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) or hyperlipidemia. Trials were retrieved through Medline (1980 to May, 2009), bibliographies, and the author’s reference files limited to English-language articles. Data were extracted and meta-analysis was performed. Analysis showed statistically significant reduction in CRP after statin treatment (weighted mean difference [WMD] = -0.73, 95% confidence interval [CI] = [-0.80, -0.66], P < 0.00001) and lower CRP after statin treatment than non-statin routine treatment ([WMD] = -0.52, 95% CI [-0.86, -0.18], P = 0.002). In conclusion, statins significantly reduce serum CRP in Chinese population, which may contribute to statin-induced reduction in the cardiovascular risk in addition to the lipid lowering effect.

Our aim is to present some limit theorems for capacities. We consider a sequence of pairwise negatively correlated random variables. We obtain laws of large numbers for upper probabilities and 2-alternating capacities, using some results in the classical probability theory and a non-additive version of Chebyshev＇s inequality and Boral-Contelli lemma for capacities.

Effect of Carrier Differences on Spin Polarized Injection into Organic and Inorganic Semiconductors

Spin polarized injection into organic and inorganic semiconductors are studied theoretically from the spin diffusion theory and Ohm＇s law, and the emphases are placed on the effect of the carrier differences on the current spin polarization. The mobility and the spin-flip time of carriers in organic and inorganic semiconductors are different. From the calculation, it is found that current spin polarization at a ferromagnetic/organic interface is higher than that at a ferromagnetic/inorganic interface because of different carriers in them. Effects of the conductivity matching, the spin dependent interracial resistances, and the bulk spin polarization of the ferromagnetic layer on the spin polarized injection are also discussed.

One-photon absorption and two-photon absorption（TPA） properties of three tris（picolyl）amine-based zinc ion sensors are investigated by employing the density functional response theory in combination with the polarizable continuum *** different isomer and coordination geometry of each probe are taken into account. Special emphasis is placed on the effects of isomerism and the coordination mode on the optical properties. The intra-molecular charge transfer（ICT）properties are specified by natural bond orbital charge analysis. It is shown that the isomerism has non-negligible effects on TPA properties of free ligands. It is found that both the TPA wavelength and the cross section are highly dependent on the coordination mode. When the zinc ion connects with the picolyl unit in the middle of a ligand, the zinc complex has a large TPA intensity in a long wavelength range due to the increased ICT mechanism.

Sever and Tezcan recently [***.A36(1987)1045],used the 1/N expansion to solve the time independent Schrodinger equation with a more general scrcened Coulomb potential;V(r)=-(a/r)[l+(1+br)exp(-2br)] obtained the analytical expressions,and gave some numerical values of energies for 1s and 2s *** apply the shifted 1/N expansion to solve the same Schrödinger equation and calculate the numerical values of energies for 1s to 5g *** results for 18 and 2s states are excellent agreement with those obtained by solving the Schrodinger equation by means of the numerical calculation method,and the accuracy is much better than the results of Sever and Tezcan.

Two coordination polymers, namely, two-dimensional complex 1 {[Cu（μ- L）1.5（ClO4）2（H2O）].（H2O）0.5]n （L = pyrazine-1,4-dioxide） and one-dimensional complex 2 [Co（μ-L）Br2（H2O）2]n, have been synthesized with pyrazine-1,4-dioxide as bridging ligands, and their crystal structures were determined by X-ray crystallography. Crystal data for complex 1： monoclinic system, space group C2/c, with a = 23.310（3）, b = 12.2338（17）, c = 10.6075（15） A, β= 110.487（2）°, V = 2833.6（7） A3, Z = 8, C6H9C12CuN3O12.5, Mr = 457.60, Dc = 2.145 g/cm^3, F（000） = 1832 and μ = 1.998 mm^-1; and those for 2： monoclinic system, space group C2/c, with a = 11.012（3）, b = 7.483（2）, c = 11.451（3） A, β = 101.654（4）°, V = 924.2（4） A3, Z = 4, C4HsBr2CoN2O4, Mr = 366.87, Dc = 2.637 g/cm^3, F（000） = 700 and μ = 10.487 mm^-1. 1 shows a two-dimensional sheet structure on the ac plane through the coordination of μ-L bridging ligands with Cu（Ⅱ） ions, while 2 displays a zigzag one-dimensional chain along the c axis via the coordination of μ-L bridging ligand with Co（Ⅱ） ions. Hydrogen bonds in 1 and 2 make the sheets （or chains） connect each other to form a three-dimensional structure.

For compressible two-phase displacement problem, a kind of upwind operator splitting finite difference schemes is put forward and make use of operator splitting, of calculus of variations, multiplicative commutation rule of difference operators, decomposition of high order difference operators and prior estimates are adopted. Optimal order estimates in L 2 norm are derived to determine the error, in the approximate solution.

For the three-dimensional seawater intrusion and protection system, the model of dynamics of fluids in porous media and the modified upwind finite difference fractional steps schemes are put forward. Based on the numerical simulation of the practical situation in the Laizhou Bay Area of shandong Province, predictive numerical simulation and analysis of the consequence of protection projects, underground dams, tidal barrage projects and the applied modular form of project adjustment have been finished. By using the theory and techniques of differential equation prior estimates, the convergence results have been got.
