Sublethal effects of hexaflumuron on development and reproduction of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella （Lepidoptera： Yponomeutidae）

Effects of hexaflumuron at 10% lethal concentration （LC10） and LC25 on development and reproduction parameters of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella （Linnaeus, 1753）（Lep.： Yponomeutidae） were investigated. Estimated LC50, LC10 and LC25 values of leaf dip bioassay of hexaflumuron on the third instar larvae of the P xylostella were 1.48, 0.59 and 0.91 mg/L, respectively. Hexaflumuron decreased pupal weight in the parent generation at sublethal concentrations but in the offspring generation, this effect was not observed. Sublethal concentrations increased egg, first and second larval instar and pupa developmental time and shortened life span of adults, but did not change the third and fourth larval instars and pre-pupa developmental period. Also fecundity of females reduced significantly but hatchability of treatments and control were similar. Survival rate of pre-adult stages declined significantly at LC25 concentration. Reproduction parameters such as reproductive rate （R0） and intrinsic rate of increase in sublethal concentrations were significantly lower compared with control, but gross reproduction rate （GRR） at the LC10 concentration was increased and it could be hormoligosis. Also hexaflumuron significantly increased doubling time （Dt）. We conclude that the sublethal effects of hexaflumuron might exhibit significant effects on the population dynamics of P xylostella.

OFDM combined with the MIMO technique has become a core and attractive technology in future wireless communication systems and can be used to both improve capacity and quality of mobile wireless systems. Accurate and efficient channel estimation plays a key role in MIMO-OFDM communication systems, which is typically realized by using pilot or training sequences by virtue of low complexity and considerable performance. In this paper, we discuss some methods for channel estimation based training symbols in MIMO-OFDM systems. The results confirm the superiority of the represented methods over the existing ones in terms of bandwidth efficiency and estimation error.

With the growing number of Web services on the internet,there is a challenge to select the best Web service which can offer more quality-of-service(QoS)values at the lowest *** challenge is the uncertainty of QoS values over time due to the unpredictable nature of the *** this paper,we modify the interval data envelopment analysis(DEA)models[Wang,Greatbanks and Yang(2005)]for QoS-aware Web service selection considering the uncertainty of QoS attributes in the presence of desirable and undesirable *** conduct a set of experiments using a synthesized dataset to show the capabilities of the proposed *** experimental results show that the correlation between the proposed models and the interval DEA models is ***,the proposed models provide almost robust results and represent more stable behavior than the interval DEA models against QoS ***,we demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed models for QoS-aware Web service *** results indicate that the proposed models significantly improve the fitness of the resultant compositions when they filter out unsatisfactory candidate services for each abstract service in the preprocessing *** models help users to select the best possible cloud service considering the dynamic internet environment and they help service providers to improve their Web services in the market.

AIM： To explore the relationship between different parameters of Ocular Response Analyzer（ORA） and Corvis ST（CST） in a sample of healthy Iranian school-aged children and the relationship between parameters of these 2 instruments against intraocular pressure（IOP）, measured by the Goldmann applanation tonometer（GAT-IOP）, age and gender, and find possible correlation between ORA and CST with ***： This cross-sectional study included 90 healthy children. A general interview and complete eye examination were performed. Following successful GATIOP measurement, ORA and CST were conducted. The CST parameters were A 1/2 length（A1 L, A2 L）, A 1/2 velocity（A1 V, A2 V）, highest concavity deformation amplitude（HCDA）, radius of curvature（Ro C）, peak distance（PD）, central corneal thickness（CCT） and IOP. The ORA parameters were corneal hysteresis（CH）, corneal resistance factor（CRF）, Goldmann-correlated IOP（IOP-G） and corneal compensated IOP（IOP-CC）. Extracted data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science ***： Totally 39 males with age of 9.08±1.60（6-12）y and 51 females with age of 8.96±1.55（6-13）y were included. Many CST parameters were significantly correlated with CH, CRF, IOP-G and IOP-CC. Some CST parameters had a significant correlation with GAT-IOP, including IOP-CST in both eyes and HCDA, A2 L, PD, and RoC in the left eye, but none with age, except A2 L in the right eye. The CRF measurement showed a significant correlation with GAT-IOP in both eyes and CH in the right eye, yet, none with age. Among all CST and ORA parameters, CCT-CST in both eyes and A1 L in right eye had a significant correlation with gender, although this was a negligible negative correlation. Comparison of mean IOP values by different devices showed a significantly highest IOP overestimation by CST and lowest by IOP-CC compared with GAT. Also, IOP-G versus IOP-CST significantly had the lowest IOP overestimation among others. Overall, either low positive correlation

The Tight Bound for the Number of Pilots in Channel Estimation for OFDM Systems

Coherent detection in OFDM systems requires accurate channel state information (CSI) at the receiver. Channel estimation based on pilot-symbol-assisted transmissions provides a reliable way to obtain CSI. Use of pilot symbols for channel estimation, introduces overhead and it is desirable to keep the number of pilot symbols as minimum as possible. This paper introduces a new tight bound for the number of pilots in channel estimation using adaptive scheme in OFDM systems. We calculate the minimum number of necessary pilots using two approaches. The first approach for the number of pilots is obtained based on Doppler frequency shift estimation and the second approach is acquired based on channel length estimation using second order statistics of received signal. Finally we obtain the tight bound for the number of pilots using attained values.

According to historical evidence, the abuse of opium has been reported all over the globe-specifically throughout Eastern nations-since the sixteenth century. Before that, opium had mostly been applied as medication. Reference has been made in traditional Persian medical literature to the method of cultivation, properties, side effects and toxicity. In sixteenth century Iran, during the reign of the Safavids, opium abuse began. It was from then that prominent Persian scholars started to think of solutions to this societal problem. One of the most famous scholars was Imad al-Din Mahmud ibn Mas＇ud Shirazi, who composed a book concerning addiction-Afyunieh, a comprehensive book on the topic of opium and all issues of opium. Furthermore, he recommended methods for reducing opium dose as well as substitution with other medications that had a narrower range of side effects, in order to eradicate dependency upon opium and opium-derived materials. This is most likely the first book that comprehensively addressed opium and discussed drug rehabilitation methodology, in traditional Persian medical literature. In this historical review, the authors have introduced the book Afyunieh, which presents methods for treating addiction to and giving up opium; the text comprises a synthesis of the author＇s opinions, professional experience and references to the work of other famous physicians.

Objective: To investigate the analgesic and anti-inflammatory property and possible involvement of opioid receptors of ethyl acetate extract from aerial parts of Daphne mucronata(D. mucronata) in mice by formalin ***: Single doses of 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 mg/kg of body weight of ethyl acetate extract of D. mucronata were intraperitoneally administered to the mice 30 min before analgesic test. The anti-nociceptive effect of preparations was evaluated based on the formalin in ***: The results indicated that the extract(2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 mg/kg) increased the pain threshold of mice and induced analgesia in both phases of formalin test. Like morphine sulfate(5.0 mg/kg, i.p.), the extract also showed more effective analgesic effect on the late phase of formalin test. Pre-treatment of animals with naloxone(5.0 mg/kg i.p.)did not inhibit the effects of the ***: Our findings suggest that D. mucronata contains potential analgesic and anti-inflammatory compounds which support its traditional use. Moreover, it seems that the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of the extract is mediated by non-opioid mechanisms. Further pharmacological studies are required to determine whether the analgesic mechanisms are actually responsible for such properties.
