Synthesis of Water-soluble, Polyester-based Dendrimer Prodrugs for Exploiting Therapeutic Properties of Two Triterpenoid Acids

Dendrimers are macromolecules characterized by high controlled size, shape and architecture, presence of inner cavities able to accommodate small molecules and many peripheral functional groups to bind target entities. They are of eminent interest for biomedical applications, including gene transfection, tissue engineering, imaging, and drug delivery. The well-known pharmacological activities of ursolic and oleanolic acids are limited by their small water solubility, non-specific cell distribution, low bioavailability, poor pharmacokinetics, and their direct administration could result in the release of thrombi. To overcome such problems, in this paper we described their physical incorporation inside amino acids-modified polyester-based dendrimers which made them highly water-soluble. IR, NMR, zeta potential, mean size of particles, buffer capacity and drug release profiles of prepared materials were reported. The achieved water-soluble complexes harmonize a polycationic character and a buffer capacity which presuppose efficient cell penetration and increased residence time with a biodegradable cell respectful scaffold, thus appearing as a promising team of not toxic prodrugs for safe administration of ursolic and oleanolic acids.

Laminar natural convection heat transfer inside air-filled, rectangular enclosures partially heated from below and cooled at one side is studied numerically. A computational code based on the SIMPLE-C algorithm is used for the solution of the system of the mass, momentum, and energy transfer governing equations. Simulations are performed for a complete range of heater size, for Rayleigh numbers based on the height of the cavity ranging from 10~3to 10~6, and for height-to-width aspect ratios of the cavity spanning from 0.25 to 4. It is found that the heat transfer rate increases with increasing the heater size and the Rayleigh number, while it decreases with increasing the aspect ratio of the cavity. dimensionless heat transfer correlations are also proposed.

The quantal symmetry property of the CP1 nonlinear σ model with Maxwell non-Abelian ChernSimons terms in(2+1) dimension is studied.In the Coulomb gauge,the system is quantized by using the Faddeev-Senjanovic(FS) path-integral formalism.Based on the quantaum Noether theorem,the quantal conserved angular momentum is derived and the fractional spin at the quantum level in this system is presented.

The BESⅢCollaboration has recently published a new precise measurement of the time-like neutron form factor(FF)[1].In the light of the remarkable accuracy and of the wideness of the explored kinematical range,these data represent an unprecedented tool for highlighting and studying specific features of the neutron FF.Until a few years ago,the only available data were those obtained by the FENICE experiment at Frascati,in the’90s[2].

In order to make optimal use of the experimental data to determine the T branching fractions, their uncertainties, and their correlations, we perform a global minimum X2 fit using the measured values, their uncertainties, their statistical correlations, their dependencies on external parameters and common systematics, and the relations that hold between the branching fractions, including a unitarity constraint on the sum of all the exclusive τ decay branching fractions. Starting with this edition, we use a new fit procedure, which has been elaborated by the Tau Physics Group within the Heavy Flavour Averaging Group （HFAG） [1].

We study the properties of two-flavor quark matter in the Dyson-Schwinger model and investigate the possible consequences for hybrid neutron stars,with particular regard to the two-solar-mass limit.We find that with some extreme values of the model parameters,the mass fraction of two-flavor quark matter in heavy neutron stars can be as high as 30 percent and the possible energy release during the conversion from nucleonic neutron stars to hybrid stars can reach 1052 erg.

The data collected by the KLOE Collaboration at the Frascati φ-factory DAФNE from 2001 to 2006 have been used for extensive studies in meson spectroscopy. The decays of the scalar mesons a0（980） and f0（980） into two pseudoscalar mesons have been exploited to measure the relevant parameters of those resonances. The radiative decays φ →ηγ and η＇γ have been used for the determination of the pseudoscalar mixing angle and to search for a possible gluonium content in the η＇. The dynamics of the η → 3π decay has been studied and the Dalitz Plot parameters have been measured. The large amount of η mesons produced allowed also to study interesting rare η decays.

We investigate the ^3PF2 neutron superfluidity in H-stable neutron star matter and neutron stars by using the BCS theory and the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approach. We adopt the Argonne V18 potential supplemented with a microscopic three-body force as the realistic nucleon-nucleon interaction. We have concentrated on studying the threebody force effect on the ^3PF2 neutron pairing gap. It is found that the three-body force effect is to enhance remarkably the ^3PF2 neutron superfluidity in neutron star matter and neutron stars.

High-resolution digital topography is essential for land management and planning in any type of territory as well as the reproduction of the Earth surface in a geocoded digital format that allows several digital Earth applications.In a volcanic environment,digital Elevation Models are a valid reference for multi-temporal analyses aimed to observe frequent changes of a volcano edifice and for the relative detailed morphological and structural analyses.For the first time,a DTM(digital Terrain Model)and a DSM(digital Surface Model)covering the entire Mt.Etna volcano(Italy)derived from the same airborne Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)are here presented.More than 250 million 3D LiDAR points have been processed to distinguish ground elements from natural and anthropic features.The end product is the highly accurate representation of Mt.Etna landscape(DSM)and ground topography(DTM)dated 2005.Both models have a high spatial resolution of 2 m and cover an area of 620 km2.The DTM has been validated by GPS ground control points.The vertical accuracy has been evaluated,resulting in a root-mean-square-error of±0.24 m.The DTM is available as electronic supplement and represents a valid support for various scientific studies.
