Ginkgo biloba leaf extract effects on inducible nitric oxide synthase, Bcl-2, and Bax expression in rat models of spinal cord injury

BACKGROUND：Ginkgo biloba leaf extract exhibits neuroprotective effects in spinal cord injury. However, the mechanisms of action remain unclear. OBJECTIVE： To investigate inducible nitric oxide synthase （iNOS） and Bcl-2/Bax expression in the injured spinal cord, and to explore the neuroprotective mechanisms of ginkgo biloba leaf extract in rats with spinal cord injury. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： The randomized, controlled, cell molecular biology experiment was performed at Soochow University, China from March 2007 to March 2008. MATERIALS： A total of 120 healthy, adult Sprague Dawley rats were selected for this study. Rat models of moderate acute thoracic （T9） spinal cord injury were established using the modified Allen method. Shuxuening injection was obtained from Zhenbaodao Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., China. Methylprednisolone was purchased from North China Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. METHODS： All rats were equally and randomly divided into four groups. Only the spinal cord was exposed in the sham operation group rats. In the trauma group, rats were not treated with drugs following spinal cord injury. Rats in the hormone group were intraperitoneally injected with 30 mg/kg methylprednisolone following spinal cord injury. Rats in the ginkgo biloba leaf extract group were intraperitoneally infused with a 1.0 mL/kg Shuxuening injection per day. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： At 1 hour, as well as 1, 3, 5, 7, and 14 days after spinal cord injury, iNOS- and Bcl-2/Bax-positive cells were quantified with immunohistochemistry. Pathological changes were detected using hematoxylineosin staining under an optical microscope. RESULTS： Spinal cord injury in the ginkgo biloba leaf extract and hormone groups was milder compared with the trauma group. Demyelination was significantly ameliorated and the necrotic cavity was obviously reduced in the injured spinal cord of rats in the ginkgo biloba leaf extract and hormone groups at each time point. iNOS expression was increased in the injured spina

This paper mainly studies the model matching problem of multiple-output-delay systems in which the reference model is assigned to a diagonal transfer function matrix.A new model matching controller structure is first developed,and then,it is shown that the controller is feasible if and only if the sets of Diophantine equations have common *** obtained controller allows a parametric representation,which shows that an adaptive scheme can be used to tolerate parameter variations in the *** resulting adaptive law can guarantee the global stability of the closed-loop systems and the convergence of the output error.

Time-varying decentralized control for linear time-varying systems with m-control stations has been studied. It is shown that under some conditions a time-varying decentralized output feedback can be found such that the closed-loop system is completely controllalde and completely observable for a certain channel. with this result, we get a sufficient condition for complete controllability under decentralized information structure for linear time-varying systems with m-control stations. Furthermore, under similar conditions for a linear periodic time-varying system with m-control stations there exists a periodic time-varying decentralized output feedback such that the closed-loop system is uniformly completely controllable and uniformly completely observable for a certain channel. Therefore the periodic time-varying decentralized controller is obtained.

BACKGROUND As one of the subsets of CD8+T cells,Tc17 cells have recently been identified and are characterized by the secretion of interleukin(IL)-17,which is related to inflammatory *** To assess the status of Tc17 cells in cervical cancer and investigate the biological function of Tc17 cells in cervical cancer *** Flow cytometry assay,immunohistochemistry,and immunofluorescence were performed to detect the levels and phenotype of Tc17 cells in blood and tumor samples from patients with cervical *** to cell suspension culture,ELISA was carried out to measure the production of IL-6,IL-1β,IL-23,CXCL12,and IL-17 in tumor tissue supernatant and co-cultured supernatant of patients with cervical *** addition,multivariate analysis was performed to identify factors associated with overall survival using the Cox proportional hazards *** Compared with normal tissues,Tc17 cells specifically accumulated in tumor tissues of cervical cancer *** cells produced a greater amount of IL-6,IL-1β,and IL-23,which in turn promoted Tc17 cell *** the traditional cytotoxic CD8^+T cells,Tc17 cells secreted IL-17,which subsequently promoted CXCL12 expression in tumor cells,eventually enhancing the proliferation and migration of tumor ***,the ratio of tumor-infiltrating Tc17 cells was highly correlated with poor clinical outcome in patients with cervical *** Our data identified the oncogenic role of Tc17 cells in the development of cervical *** propose that the ratio of Tc17 cells may be a useful index in the prognosis of patients with cervical cancer.

Flocking for swarm systems with fixed topology in a changing environment

This paper is mainly devoted to the flocking of a class of swarm with fixed topology in a changing environment. Firstly, the controller for each agent is proposed by employing the error terms between the state of the agent and the average state of its neighbors. Secondly, a sufficient condition for the swarm to achieve flocking is presented under assumptions that the gradient of the environment is bounded and the initial position graph is connected. Thirdly, as the environment is a plane, it is further proved that the velocity of each agent finally converges to the velocity of the swarm center although not one agent knows where the center of the group is. Finally, numerical examples are included to illustrate the obtained results.
