We demonstrate the use of stochastic collocation to assess the performance of photonic devices under the effect of uncertainty. This approach combines high accuracy and efficiency in analyzing device variability with the ease of implementation of sampling-based methods. Its flexibility makes it suitable to be applied to a large range of photonic devices. We compare the stochastic collocation method with a Monte Carlo technique on a numerical analysis of the variability in silicon directional couplers.

As 5G becomes commercial,researchers have turned attention toward the Sixth-Generation(6G)network with the vision of connecting intelligence in a green energy-efficient *** learning triggers an upsurge of green intelligent services such as resources orchestration of communication infrastructures while preserving privacy and increasing communication ***,designing effective incentives in federated learning is challenging due to the dynamic available clients and the correlation between clients'contributions during the learning *** this paper,we propose a dynamic incentive and reputation mechanism to improve energy efficiency and training performance of federated *** proposed incentive based on the Stackelberg game can timely adjust optimal energy consumption with changes in available clients during federated ***,clients’contributions in reputation management are formulated based on the cooperative game to capture the correlation between tasks,which satisfies availability,fairness,and *** simulation results show that the proposed scheme can significantly motivate high-performance clients to participate in federated learning and improve the accuracy and energy efficiency of the federated learning model.

This paper describes a method of calculating the Schur complement of a sparse positive definite matrix A. The main idea of this approach is to represent matrix A in the form of an elimination tree using a reordering algorithm like METIS and putting columns/rows for which the Schur complement is needed into the top node of the elimination tree. Any problem with a degenerate part of the initial matrix can be resolved with the help of iterative refinement. The proposed approach is close to the “multifrontal” one which was implemented by Ian Duff and others in 1980s. Schur complement computations described in this paper are available in Intel®Math Kernel Library (Intel®MKL). In this paper we present the algorithm for Schur complement computations, experiments that demonstrate a negligible increase in the number of elements in the factored matrix, and comparison with existing alternatives.

The paper describes an efficient direct method to solve an equation Ax = b, where A is a sparse matrix, on the Intel®Xeon PhiTM coprocessor. The main challenge for such a system is how to engage all available threads (about 240) and how to reduce OpenMP* synchronization overhead, which is very expensive for hundreds of threads. The method consists of decomposing A into a product of lower-triangular, diagonal, and upper triangular matrices followed by solves of the resulting three subsystems. The main idea is based on the hybrid parallel algorithm used in the Intel®Math Kernel Library Parallel Direct Sparse Solver for Clusters [1]. Our implementation exploits a static scheduling algorithm during the factorization step to reduce OpenMP synchronization overhead. To effectively engage all available threads, a three-level approach of parallelization is used. Furthermore, we demonstrate that our implementation can perform up to 100 times better on factorization step and up to 65 times better in terms of overall performance on the 240 threads of the Intel®Xeon PhiTM coprocessor.

In conclusion, human-centered A.I. and security primitivesis an advanced mode of technology that uses statistical mathematicalmodels that provides tools to perform certain work. The results keep onadvancing and spreading with years and it will be common in our lives.

Operating in a body area network around a smartphone user, wearables serve a variety of commercial, medical and personal uses. Depending on a certain smartphone application, a wearable can capture sensitive data about the user and provide critical, possibly life-or-death, functionality. When using wearables, security problems might occur on hardware/software of wearables, connected phone apps or web services devices, or Bluetooth channels used for communication. This paper develops an open source platform called SecuWear for identifying vulnerabilities in these areas and facilitating wearable security research to mitigate them. SecuWear supports the creation, evaluation, and analysis of security vulnerability tests on actual hardwares. Extending earlier results, this paper includes an empirical evaluation that demonstrates proof of concept attacks on commercial wearable devices and shows how SecuWear captures the information necessary for identifying such attacks. Also included is a process for releasing attack and mitigation information to the security community.

Cloud computing has taken over the high-performance distributed computing area,and it currently provides on-demand services and resource polling over the *** a result of constantly changing user service demand,the task scheduling problem has emerged as a critical analytical topic in cloud *** primary goal of scheduling tasks is to distribute tasks to available processors to construct the shortest possible schedule without breaching precedence *** and schedules of tasks substantially influence system operation in a heterogeneous multiprocessor *** diverse processes inside the heuristic-based task scheduling method will result in varying makespan in the heterogeneous computing *** a result,an intelligent scheduling algorithm should efficiently determine the priority of every subtask based on the resources necessary to lower the *** research introduced a novel efficient scheduling task method in cloud computing systems based on the cooperation search algorithm to tackle an essential task and schedule a heterogeneous cloud computing *** basic idea of thismethod is to use the advantages of meta-heuristic algorithms to get the optimal *** assess our algorithm’s performance by running it through three scenarios with varying numbers of *** findings demonstrate that the suggested technique beats existingmethods NewGenetic Algorithm(NGA),Genetic Algorithm(GA),Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA),Gravitational Search Algorithm(GSA),and Hybrid Heuristic and Genetic(HHG)by 7.9%,2.1%,8.8%,7.7%,3.4%respectively according to makespan.

Socio-economic status and lifestyle factors are associated with achalasia risk: A population-based case-control study

AIM: To evaluate the association between various lifestyle factors and achalasia ***: A population-based case-control study was conducted in Northern Ireland, including n = 151 achalasia cases and n = 117 age- and sexmatched controls. Lifestyle factors were assessed via a face-to-face structured interview. The association between achalasia and lifestyle factors was assessed by unconditional logistic regression, to produce odds ratios(OR) and 95% confidence interval(CI).RESULTS: Individuals who had low-class occupations were at the highest risk of achalasia(OR = 1.88, 95%CI: 1.02-3.45), inferring that high-class occupation holders have a reduced risk of achalasia. A history of foreign travel, a lifestyle factor linked to upper socioeconomic class, was also associated with a reduced risk of achalasia(OR = 0.59, 95%CI: 0.35-0.99). Smoking and alcohol consumption carried significantly reduced risks of achalasia, even after adjustment for socio-economic status. The presence of pets in the house was associated with a two-fold increased risk of achalasia(OR = 2.00, 95%CI: 1.17-3.42). Nochildhood household factors were associated with achalasia ***: Achalasia is a disease of inequality, and individuals from low socio-economic backgrounds are at highest risk. This does not appear to be due to corresponding alcohol and smoking behaviours. An observed positive association between pet ownership and achalasia risk suggests an interaction between endotoxin and viral infection exposure in achalasia aetiology.
