Adams-Oliver Syndrome (AOS) is a rare genetic disease characterized by combination of aplasia cutis congenita (ACC) and terminal transverse limb defects (TTLD), often accompanied by defects in scalp and skull ossification. Different clinical phenotypes may be related to variable severity both of aplasia cutis and TTLD, and of minor clinical features as cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita (CMTC), congenital cardiac defect and vascular anomalies. The treatment is multidisciplinary: dermatologic, orthopedic and surgical consult should be required. It still remains unclear how to treat patients with a large skin defect that can‘t be closed primarly and may require both surgical and conservative management. We report two cases of AOS with typical limb defects and an area of aplasia cutis over vertex of the scalp managed conservatively with two different dermatologic devices.

Macrosomia is defined as a term birth weight greater than or equal to 4000 grams, or greater than the 90 percentile of intrauterine growth curves. Excessive weight has harmful consequences for the newborn and is a major health concern. Objectives: To determine the frequency of neonatal macrosomia, describe risk factors and neonatal and maternal complications. Materials and methods: This was a cross-sectional study carried out between January and December 2022, involving newborns whose birth weight was greater than or equal to 4000 grams admitted to the neonatology unit of the Labe regional hospital. Results: 591 deliveries were recorded, 15 of which were macrosomic, representing a frequency of 2.54%. The average age of the women was 30.26 years. History of fetal macrosomia and diabetes was 93.33 and 71.43% respectively. The mean gestational age was 38.71 ± 0.75 SA, the mean antenatal consultation was 3 ± 0.8 and the mode of delivery was caesarean section (66.67%). Third-trimester ultrasound was performed in 53.33% of cases. Macrosomic newborns were male in 80% of cases. neonatal complications were asphyxia (60%), hypoglycemia (20%) and hypocalcemia (13.33%). Factors associated with neonatal macrosomia were diabetes (P neonatal macrosomia is 2.54% with high neonatal morbidity among newborns hospitalized in the neonatology unit of the Labé regional hospital. Screening for macrosomia risk factors during pregnancy is essential to prevent perinatal complications.

AIM: To perform a systematic review of reported neonatal and pregnancy outcomes of Indigenous Australians with diabetes in pregnancy(DIP).METHODS: Electronic searches of Pub Med and Web of Science were carried out. Articles were selected if they contained original data on DIP outcomes in Indigenous Australians. There were no specific exclusion ***: A total of eight articles, predominantly from Queensland and Western Australia were identified once inclusion criteria were applied. Birth data from midwifery registries or paper charts encompassing years 1985-2008 were used. A total of 465591 pregnant women with and without DIP were included in the eight studies, with 1363 being Indigenous women with DIP. Indigenous Australians experienced increased rates of many known adverse outcomes of DIP including: macrosomia, caesarean section, congenital deformities, low birth weight, hypoglycaemia, and neonatal trauma. There were regional differences among Indigenous Australians, particularly regional/remote vs metropolitan populations where the regional/remote data showed worse outcomes. Two of the articles did not note a difference between Aboriginals and Caucasians in the rates of measured adverse outcome. Studies varied significantly in size, measured outcomes, and subsequent ***: The health disparities between Indigenous Australians and non-Indigenous Australians are further evidenced by poorer outcomes in DIP. This has broader implications for Indigenous health in general.

Teenage pregnancy is common in Mali due to the high rate of unwanted pregnancies and early marriages. The general objective of this study was to study emergency cesarean delivery in adolescent girls at the referral health center (RHC) in commune I of the district of Bamako. It was a descriptive study with prospective data collection from January 1 to December 31, 2018. Any adolescent girls in whom an emergency caesarean section was performed were included. The data were entered and analyzed on SPSS 20.3. Results: we have collected 616 adolescent parturients, 202 caesareans were performed in emergency, with a frequency of 32.8%. The average age was 17 with the extremes of 13 and 19. Early marriage was found out in 95.5% of our patients, 40 adolescent girls were primiparous (20%), 4 of whom had an inter-reproductive interval of less than a year. The main indications for cesarean section were fetal distress in 71 cases (35%), fetal-pelvic disproportion, scar uterus in the border pelvis (11% each), breech presentation in 15 cases (7%). Anemia (10.4%) was the main complication, followed by vascular pedicle attack (5.94%), infection of the operating site (1.5%) and a bladder wound (0.99%). Fetal mortality was 1.4% and neonatal 3.8%.?Conclusion:?the association between adolescence and caesarean section in emergency constitutes risk factors which increase maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Fighting these factors improves the survival of the mother and the newborn.
