This study was aimed to explore the anterior cervical surgery methods to treat central cord syndrome without radiographic spinal fracture-dislocation(CCSWORFD),retrospectively analyze the cases of CCSWORFD,and evaluate the curative effect of anterior cervical surgery methods for *** four cases of CCSWORFD(19 males and 5 females),all suffering from cervical hyperextension injury,between 45–68(average 59)years old,were operated on by anterior cervical surgery *** these,18 cases had been followed up for 6–24(average 15)months;18 cases,who had anterior decompression and plateﬁxation with titanium mesh bone grafting or iliac bone grafting achieved reliable effects based on the Japanese Orthopedics Association(JOA)evaluation(improved scores of cases with titanium mesh bone grafting,t=2.800,P0.05).Most of these cases had degeneration of cervical *** decompression which relieves the oppression to the spinal cord can help lessen edema of the spinal cord,and earlyﬁxation for stability of cervical vertebra is better for the recovery of spinal cord *** operation with titanium mesh bone grafting or iliac bone grafting are both reliable curative methods for CCSWORFD,and titanium mesh bone grafting can avoid the trauma of the supplying *** bone grafting can also shorten hospital stay.

Objective: To investigate the correlation among tumor angiogenesis, expressions of p53, nm23-I1, CD44v6, c-erbB-2 proteins and biological behavior and clinical outcome of gastric cancer. Methods: The intratumoral microvessel density (MVD) and expressions of p53, nm23-H1, CD44v6, c-erbB-2 were analyzed semiquantitively by immunohistochemical staining (S-P) of 59 paraffin-embedded gastric tumor specimens that were radically resected at the department of surgery, Beijing Institute for Cancer Research, between January 1990 and December 1992. The median follow-up period was 75 month (range: 60~96 months). The significdance of these indicators was analyzed retrospectively. Results: MVD for tumors with lymph node metastasis and vascular invasion was significantly higher than those without (P=0.0168 and 0.0176, respectively). The levels of p53, CD44v6, c-erbB-2 expression were significantly higher in the groups of lymph node metastasis, serosal infiltration and vascular invasion than in those without. All differences reached the statistically significant levels (P<0.01~<0.05). The low expression of nm23-H1 was negatively correlated with lymph node metastasis, serosal infiltration and vascular invasion (P<0.01; <0.05 and <0.01, respectively). Univariate analysis showed that the overall survival of patients with higher MVD, or overexpressions of p53, CD44v6, c-erbB-2, or low expression of nm23-H1 were significantly worse than those with opposite conditions (P=0.0214, 0.0062, 0.0045, 0.0159, and 0.0162, respectively). Multivariate analysis showed that expression of p53 in this series was an independent prognostic indicator. Conclusion: The data suggested that the above-mentioned factors might be helpful in evaluating the metastatic potential of gastric cancer and making more effective assessment of prognosis for individual patient. Further study with larger samples and prospective investigation of these results would be worthwhile.

Clinicopathological analysis of 719 pediatric and adolescents’ ocular tumors and tumor-like lesions:a retrospective study from 2000 to 2018 in China

AIM:To describe the clinicopathologic features and classification of pediatric and adolescent ocular tumors and tumor-like lesionsMETHODS:A total of 719 cases of pathologically confirmed ocular tumors and tumor-like lesions in a pediatric population from two academic institutions over an 18-year period were retrospectively *** main outcome measures were the clinical and pathological features of the ***:Benign tumors accounted for 92.1%of all cases while malignant tumors accounted for 7.9%.The most common ocular benign tumors were(epi-)dermoid cysts(19.8%),nevi(15.2%),corneal dermoid tumors(9.8%),and calcified epitheliomas(8.8%).The most common ocular malignant tumors were retinoblastoma(80.8%),and rhabdomyosarcoma(3.9%).Eyelid and ocular surface tumors comprised 73.3%of benign tumors while intraocular and orbital cavity comprised 94.2%of malignant *** tumor site,the upper eyelid was up to 1.79 times more than lower eyelid(P<0.05).Age at surgery and sex also had an association with different lesions(P=0.006,P=0.035,respectively).CONCLUSION:Most ocular tumors and tumor-like lesions in children and adolescents are *** ocular tumors are distinct from those in adults in terms of histological origin.(Epi-)dermoid cysts are the most common benign tumors while retinoblastomas the most common malignant tumors.

Introduction: Benign nasosinus tumors (BNST) of epithelial origin are relatively rare and arise from the various lining tissues of the nasal and sinus cavities, and from glands developed from these epithelial invaginations. These include nasosinusal polyps, pleiomorphic adenoma and inverted papilloma. The aim of our study was to investigate the epidemiological, clinical, morphological, therapeutic, and evolutionary particularities of these three clinical entities, including two tumors with the potential for progressive malignancy (pleiomorphic adenoma and inverted papilloma) and one strictly benign tumor with a favorable evolution (nasosinus polyp or Schneider polyp). Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective, analytical, cross-sectional study conducted from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2019 (13 years), in the department of Otolaryngology and Cervicofacial Surgery at Adolphe SICE Hospital, Pointe-Noire, Congo-Brazzaville. Results: During the study period, 74 patients were registered for a nasosinus tumor, of which 23 were benign tumors of epithelial origin (31%) distributed as follows: 15 cases of nasosinus polyp, 5 cases of pleomorphic adenoma and 3 cases of inverted papilloma. The mean age was 42.5 for polyps, with an estimated median of 38, and 42.9 for the other two entities (pleomorphic adenoma and inverted papilloma), with an estimated median of 41. Nasosinus allergy accounted for 17% of cases, followed by chronic sinusitis (12%);however, in 49% of cases, the patient’s history was not specified. There was no sexual predominance, the sex ratio being 1.08. Occupation, socio-economic level, and education had no impact on the development of these tumors. Most of our patients (52%, 12 cases) had a consultation delay of more than one (1) year, whatever the histological nature of the tumor. AIMS: To develop an HPLC-MS/MS method for the quantification of platycodin D(PD) in rat plasma, and to acquire the main pharmacokinetic parameters of PD after oral administration of pure PD or of Platycodi Radix extract(PRE) containing PD. METHOD: Plasma samples were pretreated with solid-phase extraction using an Oasis HLB SPE cartridge. Madecassoside was used as the internal standard(IS). Chromatographic separation was achieved on an ODS column(100 mm × 2.1 mm i.d., 3.5 μm) with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile/water(30 : 70, V/V) containing 0.1 mmol L 1ammonium acetate at a flow rate of 0.25 mL min 1. The detection was performed on a triple quadruple tandem mass spectrometer using an electrospray ionization(ESI) source with a chromatographic run time of 3.0 min. The detection was operated by multiple reaction monitoring(MRM) of the transitions of m/z 1 223.6→469.2 for PD and of m/z 973.6→469.2 for madecassoside(IS), respectively. RESULTS: The calibration curve was linear from 5 to 2 000 ng mL 1(r2>0.99) with a lower limit of quantification(LLOQ) of 5 ng mL 1. The intra- and inter-day precision(relative standard deviation, RSD) values were below 15% and the accuracy(relative error, RE) was from 15% to +15% at three quality control(QC) levels. Plasma concentrations of PD were determined for 24 h after i.v. administration of PD, and oral administration of PD and PRE, respectively. The absolute oral bioavailability of PD in rats was found to be(0.48 ± 0.19)% when administered PD, and to be(1.81 ± 0.89)% when administered PRE. CONCLUSION: The developed HPLC-MS/MS method was successfully applied to assess the pharmacokinetic parameters and oral bioavailability of PD in rats after administration of PD and Platycodi Radix extract.

Objective:Lynch syndrome(LS)pre-screening methods remain under-investigated in colorectal cancers(CRCs)in ***,we aimed to systematically investigate LS pre-screening and comprehensively characterize LS ***:Microsatellite instability(MSI)and germline variants of DNA mismatch repair(MMR)genes were examined in 406 deficient MMR(dMMR)and 250 proficient MMR *** genetic differences between LS and sporadic CRCs were studied with whole exome sequencing ***:The incidence of dMMR in Chinese patients with CRCs was 13.8%.Consistency analysis between MMR immunohistochemistry(IHC)and MSI testing showed the kappa value was *** next-generation sequencing(NGS),germline variants were detected in 154 ***,88 patients with CRC were identified as having LS by Sanger *** them,we discovered 21 previously unreported pathogenic germline variants of MMR *** patients with LS,compared with sporadic CRCs,tended to be early-onset,right-sided,early-stage and ***,the performance of MMR IHC and MSI testing for LS pre-screening was comparable:the area under the ROC curve for dMMR,MSI-H,and MSI-H/L was 0.725,0.750,and 0.745,***_MSI-H LS and sporadic CRCs showed substantial differences in somatic genetic characteristics,including different variant frequencies of APC,CREBBP,and KRAS,as well as different enriched pathways of VEGF,Notch,TGFβR,mTOR,ErbB,and Rac protein signal ***:MMR IHC and MSI testing were effective methods for LS *** revealed clinical and somatic genetic characteristics in LS CRCs may have the potential to improve the performance of LS pre-screening in combination with dMMR/MSI.

A new variant of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(iCCA)has been recognized in recent years presenting predominantly as a large hepatic mass in young woman with the characteristic expression of inhibin by *** variant iCCA was originally termed as cholangioblastic variant of iCCA,and subsequently proposed to be renamed as inhibin-positive hepatic carcinoma or solid-tubulocystic variant of iCCA to better reflect its immunohistochemical profile or morphologic *** tumor histologically is composed of small to medium sized cells with scant to moderate amount of eosinophilic cytoplasm heterogeneously organized in solid,tubular,and cystic growth *** tumor cells are positive for biliary markers,inhibin and albumin,and have a novel recurrent gene fusion,NIPBL::*** of this new iCCA variant and its clinicopathologic features will aid in the diagnostic work-up and avoid confusion with other primary and metastatic hepatic neoplasms.
