Nighttime reactions of a series of unsaturated alcohols with NO_(3)•:Kinetics,products and mechanisms study

Unsaturated alcohols are a class of Biogenic volatile organic compounds(BVOCs)emitted in large quantities by plants when damaged or under adverse environmental conditions,and studies on their atmospheric degradation at night are still *** used chamber experiments to study the gas-phase reactions of three unsaturated alcohols,E-2-penten-1-ol,Z-2-hexen-1-ol and Z-3-hepten-1-ol,with NO_(3)radicals(NO_(3)•)during the *** rate constants of these reactions were(11.7±1.76)×10^(−13),(8.55±1.33)×10^(−13)and(6.08±0.47)×10^(−13)cm^(3)/(molecule·s)at 298K and 760 Torr,*** contrast,the reaction rate of similar substances with ozone was about 10^(−18)cm^(3)/(molecule·s),which indicates that the reaction with NO_(3)•is themain oxidation pathway for unsaturated alcohols at *** molecule aldehydes and ketones were the main gas-phase organic products of the reaction of three aldehydes and ketones with NO_(3)•,and the total small molecule aldehydes and ketones yields can reach between 45%-60%.They mainly originate from the breakage of alkoxy radicals,and different breakage sites determine different product *** addition,the SOA yields of the three unsaturated alcohols with NO_(3)•were 7.1%±1.0%,12.5%±1.9%and 30.0%±4.5%,respectively,whichweremuch higher than those of similarly structured substances with O_(3)or OH radicals(•OH).The results of high-resolution mass spectrometry shows that the main components of Secondary organic aerosol(SOA)of the three unsaturated alcohols are dimeric compounds containing several nitrate groups,which are formed through the polymerization of oxyalkyl radicals.

The yellow gene family plays a crucial role in insect *** has potential for use as a visible marker gene in genetic manipulation and transgenic engineering in several model and non-model ***,yellow genes have rarely been identified in Stratiomyidae species and the functions of yellow genes are relatively *** the present study,we first manually annotated and curated 10 yellow genes in the black soldier fly(BSF),Hermetia illucens(Stratiomyidae).Then,the conserved amino acids in the major royal jelly proteins(MRJPs)domain,structural architecture and phylogenetic relationship of yellow genes in BSF were *** found that the BSF yellow-y,yellow-c and yellow-f genes are expressed at all developmental stages,especially in the prepupal *** the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9(Cas9)system,we successfully disrupted yellow-y,yellow-c and yellow-f in the ***,the mutation of yellow-y clearly resulted in a pale-yellow body color in prepupae,pupae and adults,instead of the typical black body color of the wild ***,the mutation of yellow-c or yellow-f genes did not result in any change in color of the insects,when compared with the wild *** study indicates that the BSF yellow-y gene plays a role in body pigmentation,providing an optimal marker gene for the genetic manipulation of BSF.

MIANS, a sulfhydryl-reactive fluorescence, was used to label the cysteines of MRP1 (multidrug resistance protein), and the results indicated that an increase in fluorescence intensity and a large emission blue shift took place after two Cys residues of MRP1 reacted with MIANS, which demonstrated that labeled Cys residues in MRP1 reside in a relatively hydrophobic envi-ronment. The experimental results obtained from fluorescence resonance energy transfer further uncover that two Cys residues of MRP1 modified by MIANS located in the vicinity of its NBDs, of which one lies close to NBD1, and the other near NBD2. ATP, ADP and anticancer drugs can all reduce the rate of reaction of MRP1 with MIANS. The collisional quenchers, acrylamide, I-, and Cs+ were used to assess local environments of MIANS bound to MRP1 and the results showed that the region around the MIANS-labeled cysteine is positively charged. Both MIANS and NEM, which are sulfhydryl-reactive reagents, inhibited MRP1 ATPase activity, whereas anticancer drugs activated it. These results demonstrated that all nucleotides and drugs could induce changes in conformation of the NBDs in MRP1. Nucleotides can bind directly to NBDs, but drugs may react first with TMDs, which in turn alters the accessibility of the two Cys residues bound by MIANS and affects MRP1 ATPase activity, which is coupled with the transport of its substrates. Taken together, the above experimental results provide direct evidence for further study on the coupling of translocation of the transported species to hydrolysis of ATP in MRP1.

Viral epidemics pose major threats to global health and economies. A hallmark of viral infection is the reshaping of host cell membranes and cytoskeletons to form organelle-like structures, known as viral factories, which support viral genome replication. Viral infection in many cases induces the cytoskeletal network to form cage-like structures around viral factories, including actin rings, microtubule cages,and intermediate filament cages. Viruses hijack various organelles to create these replication factories,such as viroplasms, spherules, double-membrane vesicles, tubes, and nuclear viral factories. This review specifically examines the roles of cytoskeletal elements and the endomembrane system in material transport, structural support, and biochemical regulation during viral factory formation. Furthermore, we discuss the broader implications of these interactions for viral replication and highlight potential future research directions.

The considerable hazard posed by periprosthetic joint infections underlines the urgent need for the rapid advancement of in-situ drug delivery systems within joint materials. However, the pursuit of sustained antibacterial efficacy remains a formidable challenge. In this context, we proposed a novel strategy that leverages swelling and erosion mechanisms to facilitate drug release of drug-loaded ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE), thereby ensuring its long-lasting antibacterial *** oxide(PEO), a hydrophilic polymer with fast hydrating ability and high swelling capacity, was incorporated in UHMWPE alongside the antibacterial tea polyphenol(epigallocatechin gallate,EGCG as representative). The swelling of PEO enhanced water infiltration into the matrix, while the erosion of PEO balanced the release of the encapsulated EGCG, resulting in a steady release. The behavior was supported by the EGCG release profiles and the corresponding fitted release kinetic *** demonstrated by segmented antibacterial assessments, the antibacterial efficiency was enhanced 2to 3 times in the PEO/EGCG/UHMWPE composite compared to that of EGCG/UHMWPE. Additionally, the PEO/EGCG/UHMWPE composite exhibited favorable biocompatibility and mechanical performance, making it a potential candidate for the development of drug-releasing joint implants to combat prosthetic bacterial infections.

Lead-halide perovskite nanoparticles(LHP NPs) are highly promising materials for next-generation displays and solid-state lighting due to their exceptional optical properties. However, their inherent instability presents a significant challenge. Recent advances have demonstrated that optoelectronic devices based on monolayer nanoparticle films exhibit both high luminescence efficiency and long-term *** research demonstrates that mobility limitations and anisotropic alignments in CsPbBr3nanocube monolayer films are key to their stabilization, hindering spontaneous growth through face-to-face fusion and resulting in the formation of connecting necks in a diagonal direction. Introducing laser irradiation confirmed this by significantly accelerating nanocubes growth, increasing mobility, and enhancing local structural ordering, leading to larger and more regularly shaped nanosheets. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy line-scan analyses indicated that laser irradiation did not disrupt the ligand structure. Transmission electron microscopy and correlative cathodoluminescence electron microscopy revealed the effects of post-growth and heterogeneous structures, including enhanced luminescence and inhomogeneous intensity in the nanosheets. These findings deepen the understanding of the post-growth mechanism of monolayer nanoparticles and the structure-emission correlation and highlight the unique role of laser irradiation in directing the formation of well-defined and regular nanostructures.
