Phaeocystis globosa Bloom Monitoring: Based on P. globosa Induced Seawater Viscosity Modification Adjacent to a Nuclear Power Plant in qinzhou Bay, China

The mucus produced by the outbreak of Phaeocystis globosa in the adjacent waters of the Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant(FCGNPP) in China has blocked the entrance of the cooling water filtration system of the FCGNPP, and posed a threat to the safe operation of the FCGNPP. At present, there is no related research on whether the changes in seawater viscosity could be used as a new method for monitoring and providing early warning of P. globosa tide. During a complete red tide cycle, the temporal and spatial changes in the hydrological conditions(temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen), chlorophyll-a(Chl-a), composition and abundance of phytoplankton, number and size of P. globose colonies, concentration of transparent exopolymer particles(TEP) and the seawater viscosity were measured in this study. The results indicate that there was an extremely significant negative correlation between the physical seawater viscosity η_(T,S) and temperature, and the correlation coefficient reached-0.998. The biological seawater viscosity η_(Bio) was positively correlated with the number of P. globosa colonies, and the correlation coefficients is 0.747. Because the increase in phytoplankton abundance, especially during the outbreak of P. globosa and a large amount of mucus produced by the colonies could significantly increase seawater viscosity, we suggest that biological factors were the main reasons for the increase in seawater viscosity. The η_(Bio) was completely consistent with the occurrence process of P. globosa bloom and could be used as a valuable index for P. globosa bloom monitoring.

TCPW BR: A Wireless Congestion Control Scheme Base on RTT

The wireless network is limited by the transmission medium,and the transmission process is subject to large interference and *** jitter can cause sporadic loss and is mistaken for congestion by the congestion control *** TCP Westwood protocol(referred to as TCPW)is such that it cannot distinguish between congestion loss and wireless jitter loss,which makes the congestion mechanism too sensitive and reduces bandwidth *** on this,the TCPW protocol is modified based on the estimate of the Round-Trip Time(referred to as RTT)value-called TCPW *** algorithm uses the measured smooth RTT value and divides the congestion level according to the weighted average idea to determine congestion loss and wireless jitter *** simulation results show that the TCPW BR algorithm enhances the wireless network’s ability to judge congestion and random errors.

As a new visual consumer space,the“Internet-famous space”provides a new perspective for the study on urban space in the mobile Internet *** on the data of the Douyin(the Chinese version of Tiktok)platform,this paper quantitatively measures the popularity and the distribution characteristics of Internet-famous spaces in the main urban area of *** is concluded that the distribution of Internet-famous spaces shows a spatial pattern of multi-core concentration,with spatial popularity decreasing from the urban center to the *** hot spot areas of Internet-famous spaces are mainly distributed in the functional nodes of the city,and the concentration characteristics of the internal spaces in these different areas show great differences.

Time-Critical Tasks Implementation in MEC Based Multi-Robot Cooperation Systems

Mobile edge computing(MEC) deployment in a multi-robot cooperation(MRC) system is an effective way to accomplish the tasks in terms of energy consumption and implementation latency. However, the computation and communication resources need to be considered jointly to fully exploit the advantages brought by the MEC technology. In this paper, the scenario where multi robots cooperate to accomplish the time-critical tasks is studied, where an intelligent master robot(MR) acts as an edge server to provide services to multiple slave robots(SRs) and the SRs are responsible for the environment sensing and data collection. To save energy and prolong the function time of the system, two schemes are proposed to optimize the computation and communication resources, respectively. In the first scheme, the energy consumption of SRs is minimized and balanced while guaranteeing that the tasks are accomplished under a time constraint. In the second scheme, not only the energy consumption, but also the remaining energies of the SRs are considered to enhance the robustness of the system. Through the analysis and numerical simulations, we demonstrate that even though the first policy may guarantee the minimization on the total SRs’ energy consumption, the function time of MRC system by the second scheme is longer than that by the first one.

Assessing the relative role of climate change and human activities in sandy desertification of Ordos region, China

Climate change and human activities are driving forces of sandy desertification and the relative role of them in sandy desertification is the hot point in related researches. A study was carried to assess the relative role of climate change and human activities in sandy desertification of Ordos region in China. Potential NPP and the difference between potential and actual NPP were selected as indicators to assess the relative role of climate change and human activities in sandy desertification, respectively. Assessing methods were built based on some scenarios for the reversion and expansion of sandy desertification and the relative role of climate change and human activities in sandy desertification of Ordos region were assessed from 1981 to 2000. The results showed that although some local places experienced an expansion of sandy desertification, the change of sandy desertification of Ordos region from 1981 to 2000 showed a stably reversing trend. The relative role of climate change and human activities in sandy desertification of Ordos region varied at different temporal and spatial scales in the reversion and expansion processes. In the reversion of sandy desertification, climate change was the dominant factor in the period of 1981 to 1990 and the reversed areas mainly induced by climate change including Mu Us sandy land and the transition zone between temperate steppe and temperate deciduous scrubs in north east of Ordos region; however, human activities controlled the reversed process during the period from 1991 to 2000 and the areas mainly induced by human activities distributed in all banners of Ordos region. In the expansion of sandy desertification, human activities were the dominant factor in the period of 1981 to 1990 and the expanded areas mainly included the regions around common boundary of Hanggin, Dalad Banners and Dongsheng city; however, climate change dominated the expansion of sandy desertification from 1991 to 2000, the expanded areas equably d

Estimated reproductive success of brooders and heritability of growth traits for large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) using microsatellites

We estimated the reproductive success of adult brood fish and the heritability of growthrelated traits for large yellow croaker （Larimichthys crocea）. We created two independent full-factorial cross groups （1 and 2） by crossing 4 malesx4 females and 4 males^3 females, respectively. We measured the body weight （BW）, body length （BL）, and body height （BH） of 281 individuals from group 1 and 318 individuals from group 2 at 20 months post hatch （harvest age）. We also collected a tissue sample from each individual. The parents and offspring were genotyped using six polymorphic mierosatellites. Of the 599 offspring, 99.2% were assigned to a single pair of parents. In both groups, some parent pairs produced a large number of offsprings while other pairs did not produce any offspring. The genetic diversity and putative No were lower in the offsprings than in the parents in both groups. The heritability estimates at 20-month age were 0.13±0.10 for BW, 0.19±0.13 for BL, and 0.09±0.06 for BH. The genetic and phenotype correlation between BW, BL, and BH was close to 1. The results provide basic information for selective breeding and further genetic characterization of large yellow croaker.

Nonlinear Adaptive Robust Control Design for Static Synchronous Compensator Based on Improved Dynamic Surface Method

In view of single machine to infinite bus system with static synchronous compensator, which is affected by internal and external disturbances, a nonlinear adaptive robust controller is constructed based on the improved dynamic surface control method(IDSC). Compared with the conventional DSC, the sliding mode control is introduced to the dynamic surface design procedure, and the parameter update laws are designed using the uncertainty equivalence criterions. The IDSC method not only reduces the complexity of the controller but also greatly improves the system robustness, speed and accuracy. The derived controller cannot only attenuate the influences of external disturbances against system output, but also has strong robustness to system parameters variance because the damping coefficient is considered in the internal parameter uncertainty. Simulation result reveals that the designed controller can effectively improve the dynamic performances of the power system.

DEVELOPMENT AND ASSESSMENT OF QUANTITATIVE PRECIPITATION ESTIMATION ALGORITHMS FOR S-,C-, AND X-BAND DUAL-POLARIZATION RADARS BASED ON DISDROMETER DATA FROM THREE REGIONS OF CHINA

The accuracy of quantitative precipitation estimation(QPE) for dual-polarization radars can be improved by using a localized rainfall estimation algorithm derived from the raindrop size distribution(DSD). In the present study,DSDs observed at Suzhou city, Jiangsu province; Yangjiang city, Guangdong province; and Naqu city, Tibet are analyzed during the rainy season together with the corresponding polarimetric variables for the above three *** importantly, these DSD data are used to develop optimal "synthetic" QPE algorithms for S-, C-, and X-band dual-polarization radars, which will be built or upgraded in the three regions. Meanwhile, a new piecewise fitting method(PFM) is proposed. It has been found that the number concentration N(D) of small raindrops(D1 mm) is the highest in Yangjiang. The characteristics of the differential reflectivity(Z_(DR)) and specific differential phase(K_(DP)) are significantly different in the three locations,suggesting that different rainfall estimators are needed for different locations. Further performance assessment of the QPE based on DSD data indicates that the PFM QPE algorithm(LDSD) performs better than the conventional fitting method(CFM), and the localized QPE algorithm can improve the QPE accuracy. Observations from S-band dual-polarization radars and rain gauges in the Southern China Monsoon Rainfall Experiment are implemented to verify the performances of the QPE algorithms proposed in the present study. It is found that compared with non-localized algorithms, the localized LDSD algorithm yields the best results with at least 7.66% and 8.43% reductions in the RMSE and NE, respectively, which implies that while polarimetric variables can reflect DSD characteristics, the localized QPE algorithm remains necessary.
