SPEI_(PM)-based research on drought impact on maize yield in North China Plain

The calculation method of potential evapotranspiration（PET） was improved by adopting a more reliable PET estimate based on the Penman-Monteith equation into the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index（SPEI） in this study（SPEI PM）. This improvement increased the applicability of SPEI in North China Plain（NCP）. The historic meteorological data during 1962–2011 were used to calculate SPEI PM. The detrended yields of maize from Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Beijing, and Tianjin provinces/cities of NCP were obtained by linear sliding average method. Then regression analysis was made to study the relationships between detrended yields and SPEI values. Different time scales were applied, and thus SPEI PM was mentioned as SPEI PMk-j（k=time scale, 1, 2, 3, 4,…, 24 mon; j=month, 1, 2, 3,..., 12）, among which SPEI PM3-8 reflected the water condition from June to August, a period of heavy precipitation and vigorous growth of maize in NCP. SPEI PM3-8 was highly correlated with detrended yield in this region, which can effectively evaluate the effect of drought on maize yield. Additionally, this relationship becomes more significant in recent 20 yr. The regression model based on the SPEI series explained 64.8% of the variability of the annual detrended yield in Beijing, 45.2% in Henan, 58.6% in Shandong, and 54.6% in Hebei. Moreover, when SPEI PM3-8 is in the range of –0.6 to 1.1, –0.9 to 0.8 and –0.8 to 2.3, the detrended yield increases in Shandong, Henan and Beijing. The yield increasing range was during normal water condition in Shandong and Henan, where precipitation was abundant. It indicated that the field management matched well with local water condition and thus allowed stable and high yield. Maize yield increase in these two provinces in the future can be realized by further improving water use efficiency and enhancing the stress resistance as well as yield stability. A multi-objective robust operation model is proposed in this paper for an electronic market enablexi supply chain consisting of multi-supplier and multi-customer with uncertain demands. Suppliers in this supply chain provide many kinds of products to different customers directly or through electronic market. Uncertain demands are described as a scenario set with certain probability;, the supply chain operation model is constructed by using the robust optimization method based on scenario analyses. The operation model we proposed is a multi-objective programming problem satisfying several conflict objectives, such as meeting the demands of all customers, minimizing the system cost, the availabilities of suppliers＇ capacities not below a certain level, and robustness of decision to uncertain demands. The results of numerical examples proved that the solution of the model is most conservative; however, it can ensure the robustness of the operation of the supply chain effectively.

In this work, we reported the synthesis and evaluation of anti Mycobacterium bovisBCG activity of a series of dihydropyrimidines. A collection of dihydropyrimidines was synthesized and evaluated for their in vitro antitubercular activity against Mycobacterium bovis-BCG （1173P2）. A catalyst free and solvent free method for the preparation of dihdropyrimidin was introduced. Benzaldehyde and its derivatives were easily condensed with ethylacetate and urea under solvent free and catalyst free condition in 110 ℃. The condensation reaction was carried out in short reaction time （1-2 h） and the dihydropryimidine products were obtained in high yield.

Methane (CH 4 ) and nitrous oxide (N 2 O) emissions from paddy soils have seldom been estimated when leguminous green manure is applied as a nitrogen source. In this paper, gas fluxes were measured by using a pot sampling device combined with a static chamber method to estimate the effects of Chinese milk vetch (Astragalus sinicus L., CMV) on CH 4 and N 2 O emissions and their integrated global warming potentials (GWP) in a double-rice cropping system. Four treatments (no nitrogen fertilizer, NF; urea as chemical fertilizer, CF; CMV incorporation, MV; 50% CMV incorporation and 50% urea, MVCF) were established. CH 4 flux peaked on the 15th d after treatment application. Total season CH 4 emission was increased by MV and MVCF by 370 and 209%, 152 and 66%, when compared with NF and CF, respectively. Most of the increased CH 4 was emitted in the first two months after incorporation of CMV. N 2 O emission from CF was 17- and 5.6-fold higher than that from MV and MVCF, respectively. Application of CMV restricted N 2 O emission caused by the application of urea. Improved CMV residue management was needed to minify CH 4 emission induced by the input of organic material. Despite the highest GWP being found in MV, we recommend CMV, when applied as an N source in paddy fields, as a potential mitigation tool for greenhouse gas emissions.

This research aims to identify the morphological changes of the Padma River due to the effects of anthropogenic climate change. The morphological changes were measured by aerial satellite images and their historical comparison, terrestrial survey, sedimentation in the riverbed, water flow, water discharge, siltation, and erosion along the river, etc. The Padma River has been analyzed over the period from 1971 to 2020 using multi-temporal Landsat images and long-term water flow data. The climatic parameters data related to temperature and rainfall were collected from 21 metrological stations distributed throughout Bangladesh over a 50-year period (1965-2015) to evaluate the magnitude of these changes statistically and spatially. The Padma, traditionally considered as a dominantly meandering river, is switching over into a braided river due to its highly susceptible nature of erosion and deposition. Results reveal that the tidal range is high during the dry season and increases from upstream to downstream of the river. Climate change may bring changes upstream by changing rainfall intensity, flood severity, and extreme temperature. More inundation can occur due to sedimentation, and more bank erosion can occur at the same time. An exponential increase of morphological activity with increased river flow, water discharge, bank erosion might substantially increase in the future. The changes in the flow introduced by climate change would impact the morphology of the Padma River of Bangladesh during the monsoon. A major change has been observed in the location of the bank and channel, as well as bars, along with their geometry and morphology over time. It is also observed that the bank line is not stable and migrated continuously. The overall width of the Padma River is varied significantly during the last 50 years. It is important to research the rules about accumulation and distribution of arsenic and cadmium by tea plants,which will give us some scientific ideas about how to control the contents of arsenic and cadmium in *** this study,by field investigation and pot trial,we found that mobility of arsenic and cadmium in tea plants was *** arsenic and cadmium absorbed were fixed in feeding roots and only small amount was transported to the above-ground *** of arsenic and cadmium,based on their concentrations of unit dry matter,in tea plants grown on un-contaminated soil was in the order:feeding roots>stems≈main roots>old leaves>young *** tea plants were grown on polluted soils simulated by adding salts of these two metals,feeding roots possibly acted as a buffer and defense,and arsenic and cadmium were transported less to the aboveground *** concentration of cadmium in soil significantly and negatively correlated with chlorophyll content,photosynthetic rate,transpiration rate and biomass production of tea plants.

Ecotourism Potential: A Bibliometric Review

Ecotourism potential is a fundamental research effort needed to promote sustainable regional tourism development, and scholars have paid greater attention to it in recent years, which has led to an increase in the publication of literature on this important and widely recognized ***, there is still no clear picture of the development direction of research on ecotourism potential. To address this issue, this study attempts to provide a comprehensive analysis of the existing research state in this field. This paper presents a more detailed review of ecotourism potential, a bibliometric analysis of 949 articles selected from 1,027 publications retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database, and a systematic descriptive and network analysis of the bibliometric data using the Biblioshiny tool. Here are some interesting findings:(1)research on the ecotourism potential in the academy started in 1992, with a rapid growth in the number of publications after 2013, with an overall interdisciplinary character and the emergence of a research community represented by Milcu, Balmford, Gallagher, and others;(2) ecotourism,conservation, tourism, management, and biodiversity are high-frequency keywords in this field,revealing the main research directions;(3) the development and evolution of research focus are mainly on three aspects: wildlife and biodiversity conservation, nature-based tourism and environmental values, and the modes and contributions of community participation. Future research should focus on the scientific references of ecotourism potential for promoting regional sustainable development. This paper sheds some light on the comprehensive bibliometric studies on ecotourism potential and improves our understanding of the evolution of this academic discourse theme over the last three decades.

SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV are genetically related coronavirus and share the same cellular receptor *** replacing the VSV glycoprotein with the spikes(S)of SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV,we generated two replication-competent recombinant viruses,rVSVSARS-CoV-2 and *** wild-type and human ACE2(hACE2)knock-in mouse models,we found a single dose of rVSV-SARS-CoV could elicit strong humoral immune response via both intranasal(i.n.)and intramuscular(i.m.)*** the high genetic similarity between SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV,no obvious cross-neutralizing activity was observed in the immunized mice *** macaques,neutralizing antibody(NAb)titers induced by one *** of rVSV-SARS-CoV-2 were eight-fold higher than those by a single ***,our data indicates that rVSV-SARS-CoV-2 might be suitable for *** instead of the traditional *** in *** rVSV-SARS-CoV elicited significantly stronger NAb responses than rVSV-SARS-CoV2 in a route-independent manner,we generated a chimeric antigen by replacing the receptor binding domain(RBD)of SARS-CoV S with that from the *** expressing the chimera(rVSV-SARS-CoV/2-RBD)induced significantly increased NAbs against SARS-CoV-2 in mice and macaques than rVSV-SARS-CoV-2,with a safe Th1-biased *** immunized with rVSV-SARS-CoV/2-RBD showed no cross-reactivity with ***2 mice receiving a single *** of either rVSV-SARS-CoV-2 or rVSV-SARSCoV/2-RBD were fully protected against SARS-CoV-2 challenge without obvious lesions in the *** results suggest that transplantation of SARS-CoV-2 RBD into the S protein of SARS-CoV might be a promising antigen design for COVID-19 vaccines.
