Quantum Fisher information(QFI) plays an important role in quantum metrology,placing the ultimate limit to how precise we can estimate some unknown parameter and thus quantifying how much information we can *** observe that both the wave and particle properties within a Mach–Zehnder interferometer can naturally be quantified by ***,the particle property can be quantified by how well one can estimate the a priori probability of the path taken by the particle within the ***,as the interference pattern is always related to some phase difference,the wave property can be quantified by how well one can estimate the phase parameter of the original *** QFI as the unified figure of merit for both properties,we propose a more general and stronger wave-particle duality relation than the original one derived by Englert.

The Kibble-Zurek(KZ)mechanism has played a fundamental role in defect formation with universal scaling laws in nonequilibrium phase ***,this theory may not accurately predict the scaling laws in inhomogeneous systems and slow quenching ***,we present a generalized KZ mechanism for the defect formation in trapped ions with the freeze-out condition gt=b0τ(t),where g is a universal quenching velocity function and b0 is a *** derived a differential equationφ(x,t)to account for the frozen correlation length of a kink in an inhomogeneous system and demonstrated a smooth crossover from a fast quenching process to a slow quenching process,which agrees well with the experiments performed by Ulm et al.[***.4,2290(2013)]and Pyka et al.[***.4,2291(2013)].Furthermore,we confirmed our theoretical model using molecular dynamics simulation by solving the stochastic differential equation,showing excellent agreement with the results from the differential *** theory provides a general theoretical framework for studying KZ physics in inhomogeneous systems,which has applications in other nonequilibrium platforms studied experimentally.

Two new mapping relations between the angular coordinate on the black hole (BH) horizon and radialcoordinate on the disc are given according to the requirement of general relativity and Maxwell's equations, and theeffects of magnetic coupling (MC) on temperature of accretion disc are investigated by comparing with pure *** is shown that the MC effects on the temperature profile are related intimately to the BH spin, and the influenceon the peak value of disc temperature based on the modified mapping relations is not as great as that based on thelinear *** peak value and the corresponding radius of peak value ring of disc temperature do not increasemonotonically as the increasing spin of BH, each containing a maximum for the fast-spinning BH. The value ranges ofthe bolometric luminosity and color temperature of the disc are both extended by the MC effects.

Enhanced photocatalytic activity of Ce-doped ZnO nanopowders synthesized by combustion method

Facile and fast combustion method was used to synthesize Zn O and Ce-doped Zn O（CZO） nanocrystalline powders photocatalysts with different cerium concentrations（0.5 wt.%–10.0 wt.%） followed by calcination at 700 oC for 3 h. The prepared samples were characterized by a variety of characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electron microscopy（SEM） combined with energy dispersive X-ray diffraction（EDX）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM）, UV-visible spectroscopy, BET surface area analyser and photoluminescence spectroscopy（PL）, to study the crystal structure, surface morphology, chemical composition and optical properties. It was observed from XRD results that synthesized powders had hexagonal wurtzite structure with the smallest crystallite size about 13 nm. Absorption spectra showed that cerium doping enhanced the light absorption properties towards the visible light region. Photoluminescence spectra for Ce-doped Zn O samples exhibited relatively weak near band edge（NBE） emission peaks as compared to that of pristine Zn O. The photocatalytic activities of the prepared samples were evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B（Rh B） under UV light and visible light（λ≥420 nm） irradiation. The textile mill effluent containing organic matters was also treated under sunlight using photocatalysis and the reduction in the chemical oxygen demand（COD） of the treated effluent revealed a complete destruction of the organic molecules along with colour removal. The results showed that the CZO photocatalyst doped with 3.0 wt.% cerium exhibited four times enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to pure Zn O. The enhanced photocatalytic activity could be attributed to extended visible light absorption and inhibition of the electron-hole pair＇s recombination.

We propose a novel scheme for testing the equivalence principle with rotating cold polar molecules whose angular momenta are polarized at different *** in specific rotational states are selected out via the hexapole state-selection technique and the gravitational acceleration g of molecules is measured by measuring the Doppler shift of the molecules free falling in the gravitational *** other possible methods of rotating molecules and measuring g are also ***,as the test masses,have higher rotating speed and smaller dimension in comparison with mechanical gyroscopes and may open a new way for testing the equivalence principle and the possible coupling between rotation and gravity.

Hydrogen discharges driven by the combined radio-frequency（rf）/short pulse sources are investigated using the particle-in-cell *** simulation results show that the discharge driven additionally by the short pulse can enhance the electron density and modulate the electron energy to provide a better condition for negative hydrogen ion production than the discharge driven by the rf-only source.

Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(ARPES)and torque magnetometry(TM)measurements have been carried out to study the electronic structures of a correlated topological insulator(TI)candidate Yb *** observed clear surface states on the[001]surface centered at theГ^- and М^- points of the surface Brillouin ***,the fermiology revealed by the quantum oscillation of TM measurements agrees excellently with ARPES ***,the band structures we observed suggest that the band inversion in Yb B6 happens between the Yb5 dand B2bands,instead of the Yb5dand Yb4fbands as suggested by previous theoretical investigation,which will help settle the heavy debate regarding the topological nature of samarium/ytterbium hexaborides.

We study the electronic properties for the graphene-based one-dimensional superlattices, whose potential voltages vary according to the envelope of a Gaussian function. It is found that an unusual Dirac point exists and its location is exactly associated with a zero-averaged wave number （zero-re） gap. This zero-k gap is less sensitive to incident angle and lattice constants, properties opposing those of Bragg gap. The defect mode appearing inside the zero-l gap has an effect on transmission, conductance, and shot noise, which will be useful for further investigation.

Three-dimensional global magnetohydrodynamic simulations of the solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere system are carried out to explore the dependence of the magnetospheric reconnection voltage, the ionospheric transpolar potential, and the field aligned currents （FACs） on the solar wind driver and ionosphere load for the cases with pure southward interplanetary magnetic field （IMF）. It is shown that the reconnection voltage and the transpolar potential increase monotonically with decreasing Pedersen conductance （∑ p ）, increasing southward IMF strength （Bs） and solar wind speed （Vsw）. Moreover, both regions 1 and 2 FACs increase when Bs and vsw increase, whereas the two currents behave differently in response to ∑p. As ∑p increases, the region 1 FAC increases monotonically, but region 2 FAC shows a non-monotonic response to the increase of ∑p ： it first increases in the range of （0,5） Siemens and then decreases for ∑p 〉 5 Siemens.
