Minimal-order observer and output-feedback stabilization control design of stochastic nonlinear systems

A minimal-order observer and output-feedback stabilization control are given for single-input multi-output stochastic nonlinear systems with unobservable states, un- modelled dynamics and stochastic disturbances. Based on the observer designed, the estimates of all observable states of the system are given, and the convergence of the es- timation errors are analyzed. In addition, by using the integrator backstepping approach, an output-feedback stabilization control is constructively designed, and sufficient condi- tions are obtained under which the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable in the large or bounded in probability, respectively.

Non-linearity and parameter time-variety are inherent properties of lateral motions of a vehicle. How to effectively control intelligent vehicle (IV) lateral motions is a challenging task. Controller design can be regarded as a process of searching optimal structure from controller structure space and searching optimal parameters from parameter space. Based on this view, an intelligent vehicle lateral motions controller was designed. The controller structure was constructed by T-S fuzzy-neural network (FNN). Its parameters were searched and selected with genetic algorithm (GA). The simulation results indicate that the controller designed has strong robustness, high precision and good ride quality, and it can effectively resolve IV lateral motion non-linearity and time-variant parameters problem.

This paper deals with observer design for generalized Hamiltonian systems and its applications. First, by using the systems' structural properties, a new observer design method called Augment Plus Feedback is provided and two kinds of observers are obtained: non-adaptive and adaptive ones. Then, based on the obtained observer, H∞ control design is investigated for generalized Hamiltonian systems, and an observer-based control design is proposed. Finally, as an application to power systems, an observer and an observer-based H∞ control law are designed for single-machine infinite-bus systems. Simulations show that both the observer and controller obtained in this paper work very well.

The problem of pick sequencing in the rotary rack S/R system (PPS-RRS) is investigated with the objective of minimizing the execution time. The rotary rack S/R system consists of one S/R machine and multiple levels of carousels that can rotate independently in bi-directions. The routing policy, namely the decision on the storage or retrieval sequence, dominates the efficiency and the throughput for such S/R systems, due to the complicated relationship between all levels of carousels and the S/R machine. For the purpose of optimizing the PPS-RRS, a computational model is developed in terms of execution time for picking multiple items in one trip. Characteristics of the PPS-RRS are analyzed and a local search heuristic based on a newly proposed neighborhood is presented. Integrated with the proposed local search procedure a new hybrid genetic algorithm is developed. Experimental results demonstrate the structure characteristics of good sequence and the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed sequencing algorithms.

A new fiber optic hydrophone is described. based on a distributed feedback fiber laser (DFB-fiber laser) Experimental arrangement consists of DFB-FL, unbalanced Mach-Zehnder interferometer, piezoelectric (PZT) modulator, detection and feedback control circuit, and oscillograph. Experimental results show that the bare DFB-FL hydrophone is extremely sensitive to small perturbations in their environment and can acquire exact acoustic signals.
