The Influence of the Closure of the East Paleo-Tethys Ocean on Southern South China:Evidences from Kinematics and 40Ar/39Ar Geochronology of the Rongxian Ductile Shear Zone in Southeastern Guangxi

The Triassic was a crucial period in the tectonic evolution of the South China Block. Research on tectonic deformation during this period provides information on intracontinental orogenic mechanisms in South China. In this study, alongside thermochronological analyses, we examine the macroscopic and microscopic structural features of the Rongxian ductile shear zone, located south of the Darongshan granite in the southeastern part of Guangxi Province, on the southern margin of South China. Sinistral shear is indicated by the characteristics of rotated σ-type feldspar porphyroclasts, stretching lineations defined by elongated quartz grains and the orientations of quartz c-axes. LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating of zircons from two samples of granitic mylonite and one of granite yielded ages of ca. 256 Ma. Furthermore, two samples of granitic mylonite yield muscovite40Ar/39Ar plateau ages of 249–246 Ma. These results indicate that the Rongxian ductile shear zone resulted from Early Triassic deformation of the late Permian Darongshan granite. This deformation was likely related to the closure of the eastern Paleo-Tethys Ocean and the subsequent collision of the South China and Indochina blocks, during the early stage of the Indosinian orogeny.

CRISPR-Cas-based genome editing holds immense promise for advancing plant genomics and crop ***,the challenge of low editing activity complicates the identification of editing *** this study,we introduce multiple single transcript unit surrogate reporter(STU-SR)systems to enhance the selection of genome-edited *** systems use the same single guide RNAs designed for endogenous genes to edit reporter genes,establishing a direct link between reporter gene editing activity and that of endogenous *** strategies are used to restore functional reporter genes after genome editing,including efficient single-strand annealing(SSA)for homologous recombination in STUSR-SSA ***-SR-base editor systems leverage base editing to reinstate the start codon,enriching C-to-T and A-to-G base editing *** results showcase the effectiveness of these STU-SR systems in enhancing genome editing events in the monocot rice,encompassing Cas9 nuclease-based targeted mutagenesis,cytosine base editing,and adenine base *** systems exhibit compatibility with Cas9 variants,such as the PAM-less SpRY,and are shown to boost genome editing in Brassica oleracea,a dicot vegetable *** summary,we have developed highly efficient and versatile STU-SR systems for enrichment of genome-edited plants.

Spatial-temporal Distribution and Influencing Factors of Urban Carbon Emissions under the Background of Carbon Emission Reduction:A Case Study of Guangxi Autonomous Region

Based on the panel data of Guangxi from 2005 to 2017,the spatiotemporal characteristics and determinants of urban carbon emissions in Guangxi were analyzed using the extended STIRPAT model and the Geographically and Temporally Weighted Regression(GTWR)*** main findings of our research can be summarized as *** the total carbon emissions of cities in Guangxi consistently increased from 2005 to 2014,the growth trend slowed after 2014,leading to a stabilization in the total *** addition,there are significant differences in the total carbon emissions among the *** central and northeastern regions have higher emissions,while the southwestern region has lower ***,there are variations in the degrees and directions of the impacts that factors have on carbon emissions among the different time periods and *** land use is a key factor driving carbon emissions,and it has a negative impact on most cities in ***,factors such as industrial structure,population urbanization,population concentration,and economic growth have significant positive effects on carbon emissions in *** influence of urban roads on carbon emissions is generally positive,while the degree of openness to the outside world and environmental regulations has relatively weaker impacts on *** summary,in order to promote the low-carbon transition of Guangxi and achieve high-quality development,the cities in Guangxi should implement differentiated urban carbon reduction strategies that are focused on optimizing urban land use and industrial structure.

The role of landscape Character Assessment(LCA)at the level of territorial landscape governance spans both natural and social *** analyzing the development history,research distribution,methods and applications of cutting-edge cases of LCA in China,the following conclusions are drawn:①the LCA research in China originated earlier than that in Europe,but has not yet been systematically applied to the implementation of urban and rural planning at all levels;②the fundamental theory of LCA in China has been well constructed,with three main research directions:technologyled,assessment-led,and assessment combined with other theories;③the development of LCA in rural areas is more mature than in urban areas,but the progress of research is uneven across regions;④the current research presents significant“bottom-up”academic characteristics,and there is an urgent need for government decision-making authorities and academia to jointly promote a“top-down”standardized governance mechanism to comprehensively promote the modernization of territorial landscape governance.

Migration and fate of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in bioretention systems with different media:experiments and simulations

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)present significant risks to human health owing to their carcinogenic,teratogenic,and mutagenic *** contamination of surface water with PAHs via runoff has become a prominent source of water *** the capacity of bioretention systems to remove PAHs from runoff is recognized,the dynamics of PAH migration and degradation in these systems are not *** study aims to explain the migration and fate of PAHs in bioretention systems through a series of experiments and model *** study constructed bioretention systems with three different media types and found that these systems achieved PAH load reductions exceeding 92%.Notably,naphthalene(NAP),fluoranthene(FLT),and pyrene(PYR)tended to accumulate in the media’s upper layer,at depths of 10 to 40 *** further analyze the migration and fate of PAHs during multi-site rainfall events and across prolonged operation,we applied the HYDRUS-1D model under three distinct *** findings of this study indicated that NAP degraded in 40 d,whereas FLT and PYR showed incomplete degradation after 120 *** continuous rainfall events,there was no clear pattern of PAH accumulation;however,FLT and PYR persisted in the bioretention *** combination of experimental and simulation findings highlights the inevitable accumulation of PAHs during extended use of bioretention *** research provides a theoretical basis for improving operational efficiency,advancing PAH degradation in bioretention systems,and reducing their toxicity.

Abiotic stress treatment reveals expansin like A gene OfEXLA1 improving salt and drought tolerance of Osmanthus fragrans by responding to abscisic acid

Sweet osmanthus(Osmanthus fragrans) is a having general approval aromatic tree in China that is widely applied to landscaping and gardening. However, the evergreen tree adaptability is limited by many environmental stresses. Currently, limited information is available regarding the genetic analysis and functional identification of expansin genes in response to abiotic stress in sweet osmanthus. In this study, a total of 29 expansin genes were identified and divided into four groups by genome-wide analysis from the sweet osmanthus genome. Transcriptome and quantitative Real-time PCR analysis showed that the cell wall-localized protein expansin-like A(OfEXLA1) gene was significantly induced by salt and drought treatment. Histochemical GUS staining of transgenic Arabidopsis lines in which GUS activity was driven with the OfEXLA1 promoter, GUS activity was significantly induced by salt, drought, and exogenous abscisic acid(ABA). In yeast, we found OfEXLA1overexpression significantly improved the population of cells compared with wild-type strains after NaCl and polyethylene glycol(PEG)treatment. Additionally, OfEXLA1 overexpression not only promoted plant growth, but also improved the salt and drought tolerance in Arabidopsis. To gain insight into the role of ABA signaling in the regulation of OfEXLA1 improving abiotic tolerance in sweet osmanthus, four differentially expressed ABA Insensitive 5(ABI5)-like genes(OfABL4, OfABL5, OfABL7, and OfABL8) were identified from transcriptome, and dualluciferase(dual-LUC) and yeast one hybrid(Y1H) assay showed that OfABL4 and OfABL5 might bind to OfEXLA1 promoter to accumulate the OfEXLA1 expression by responding to ABA signaling to improve abiotic tolerance in sweet osmanthus. These results provide the information for understanding the molecular functions of expansin-like A gene and molecular breeding of sweet osmanthus in future.

Tourist Perception and Development Strategies on Culture and Commerce in a Historic Area: A Case Study of Dayan Ancient Town in Lijiang

The development of tourism in historic areas imposes immense pressure on heritage conservation, leading to issues such as commercial encroachment and the loss of cultural uniqueness in many domestic areas. Dayan Ancient Town, as an integral part of the Old Town of Lijiang, a World Cultural Heritage Site, faces increasing challenges due to commercialization. This paper explores the cultural and commercial development of Dayan Ancient Town from the perspective of tourist perception. Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP), this study develops an evaluation system and visualization to analyze both cultural and commercial perceptions of tourists. The findings reveal that tourists' cultural perception of the town is limited, while their commercial perception is prominent. Furthermore, the study examines the distribution of cultural attractions and commercial establishments, revealing that the current cultural attractions can't contribute to high and continuous cultural perception results. The study finally proposes recommendations for enhancing tourist perception of the ancient town, such as establishing multi-level protection and development strategies, infusing cultural attributes into business, and expanding cultural attraction clusters.

The Spatio-temporal Evolution of Ecological Risk and Its Drivers in the Weihe River Basin landscape from 1990 to 2020

The Weihe River Basin has a significant number of tributaries and a delicate ecological *** the spatial and temporal evolution and determinants of landscape ecological risk in the Weihe River Basin(WRB)can improve the scientific protection and development of its watershed *** study is based on land use statistics from the WRB for a 30-year period represented by 1990,2000,2010,and *** initial model for the assessment of landscaping ecological hazards was created using the software that was also used to generate the landscape ecological risk index,such as ArcGIS 10.4 and Fragstats ***,the spatial and temporal evolution of landscape ecological risk in the vicinity of the study area was characterized by the trajectory of the center of gravity migration and the spatial autocorrelation of ***,Geodetector was used to analyze ecological risk drivers in the *** to the findings,the high-risk and relatively high-risk regions are steadily expanding,while the low-risk and relatively low-risk areas dominate the ecological risk landscape in the *** the Weihe River Basin,Xianyang and Xi'an are the areas to which the high-risk centers of gravity are *** spatial correlations were found between the landscape ecological hazards in the study area,most prominently in the form of high-high and low-low *** primary drivers are the interplay between the GDP component,temperature,and elevation as a single factor.

Rock mechanical characteristics and landscape evolutionary mechanism of the slit-type Danxia landform on the Chinese Loess Plateau

Since 2015,the newly discovered slit-type Danxia landform on the Chinese Loess Plateau has become a hot topic in the field of geomorphology ***,the relationships among its formation,evolutionary mechanism,and mechanical characteristics of its strata and rocks are not *** this paper,the Ganquan canyon group is used as the research *** physical and mechanical indices of sandstone in the Ganquan canyon group were measured through field investigation and indoor experiments,and the deterioration trends for the mechanical parameters of sandstone in this area under the action of infiltration,acid dry-wet cycles,and freeze-thaw cycles were ***,the formation and evolutionary mechanism of the slit-type Danxia landform were *** results showed that:(1)The sandstone in the canyon group had a low cementation degree and weak cohesive force,which was easily weakened under the action of water,resulting in a decrease in compressive strength and elastic modulus.(2)Acidic dry-wet cycles caused the mineral composition of the sandstone to be dissolved,and the micropores continued to grow and develop until new cracks were ***,the compressive strength and elastic modulus of sandstone were greatly reduced,and this damage was cumulative and *** greater the acidity,the greater the damage.(3)As the number of freeze-thaw cycles increased,the uniaxial compressive strength and elastic modulus of the sandstone decreased *** the freeze-thaw cycle process,the growth and development of cracks were primarily in fracture mode and usually developed along parallel bedding positions.(4)The interaction of tectonic activity and lithology with different weathering processes was a key factor in the formation and evolution of the slit-type Danxia *** conclusion,the intricate process of weathering influenced by historical climatic fluctuations has been pivotal in shaping the topography of Danxia landform.
