Highly selective adsorption of rhenium by amyloid-like protein material

Rhenium separation from molybdenum in molybdenite minerals and waste leachate has become an emerging *** this challenge,we prepared a set of protein-based alkylamine/alkylammonium salts complexes as extractants for selective uptake of rhenium from molybdenum,where the protein component turned into the insoluble amyloid-like structure when its internal disulfide bonds were reduced,namely phase-transition *** them,the phase-transited lysozyme and methyletrioctyleammonium chloride complex(PTL-N263)exhibited the most efficient adsorption at the alkaline condition for the electrostatic interaction between negatively charged metal ions with positively charged center(R_(4)N^(+))in N263,where negatively charged protein residues hindered the ion exchange of Cl^(-)in N263 for larger size Mo species(Mo_(7)O_(24)^(6-))than smaller size Re species(ReO^(4-)).The adsorption follows the Freundlich model and pseudo-second-order kinetics,which exhibits toplevel adsorption performance with a maximum adsorption capacity of 124 mg/g and a separation factor(β_(Re/Mo))of 2.78×10^(3)for *** adsorption capacity per unit area(57.2 mg/(g m^(2)))is 1.6–41 times higher than previously reported adsorbents,and the cost for adsorbing 1 g of Re(VII)is$1.07,indicating its industrial *** adsorption strategy can be applied to separating Re from Mo in binary solutions and industrial wastewater with other competing ions.

Variations in stratospheric water vapor (SWV) impact not only dynamic and chemical stratospheric processes but also the rate of global warming by influencing the Earth’s energy budget. Multiple observations have indicated a significant increasing trend in SWV since 2005. Here， using both observations and idealized sensitivity experiments with a numerical model， we find that the warming in the tropical Atlantic is the main contributor to the increasing SWV trend since 2005. The warming of both the tropical Indian and Atlantic oceans elicits a Gill-Matsuno responses， and the tropopause warming caused by Atlantic warming is located over the Indo-Pacific warm pool， which tends to efficiently increase the SWV after 2005. The North Pacific warming， which weakens the Hadley cell， results in a reduction in the tropical tropopause height and consequential tropopause warming， especially over the warm pool， which also contributes to the SWV increase.

Efficient hemostasis during emergency trauma with massive bleeding remains a critical challenge in prehospital ***,multiple hemostatic strategies are critical for treating large bleeding *** this study,inspired by bombardier beetles to eject toxic spray for defense,a shape-memory aerogel with an aligned microchannel structure was proposed,employing thrombin-carrying microparticles loaded as a built-in engine to generate pulse ejections for enhanced drug *** aerogels,after contact with blood,can rapidly expand inside the wound,offering robust physical barrier blocking,sealing the bleeding wound,and generating a spontaneous local chemical reaction causing an explosivelike generation of CO_(2) microbubbles,which provide propulsion thrust to accelerate burst ejection from arrays of microchannels for deeper and faster drug *** ejection behavior,drug release kinetics,and permeation capacity were evaluated using a theoretical model and experimentally *** novel aerogel showed remarkable hemostatic performance in severely bleeding wounds in a swine model and demonstrated good degradability and biocompatibility,displaying great potential for clinical application in humans.

Accurately determining the quadrupole deformation parameters of atomic nuclei is crucial for understanding their structural and dynamic *** study introduces an innovative approach that combines transfer learning techniques with neural networks to predict the quadrupole deformation parameters of even-even *** the application of this innovative technique,the quadrupole deformation parameters of 2331 even-even nuclei are successfully predicted within the nuclear region defined by proton numbers 8≤Z≤134 and neutron numbers N≥***,we discuss the impact of nuclear quadrupole deformation parameters on the capture cross-sections in heavy-ion fusion reactions,reconstructing the capture cross-sections for the reactions ^(48)Ca+^(244)Pu and ^(48)Ca+^(248)*** research offers new insights into the application of neural networks in nuclear physics and highlights the potential of merging advanced machine learning techniques with both theoretical and experimental data,particularly in fields where experimental data are limited.

Background Document images such as statistical reports and scientific journals are widely used in information *** detection of table areas in document images is an essential prerequisite for tasks such as information ***,because of the diversity in the shapes and sizes of tables,existing table detection methods adapted from general object detection algorithms,have not yet achieved satisfactory *** detection results might lead to the loss of critical *** Therefore,we propose a novel end-to-end trainable deep network combined with a self-supervised pretraining transformer for feature extraction to minimize incorrect *** better deal with table areas of different shapes and sizes,we added a dualbranch context content attention module(DCCAM)to high-dimensional features to extract context content information,thereby enhancing the network's ability to learn shape *** feature fusion at different scales,we replaced the original 3×3 convolution with a multilayer residual module,which contains enhanced gradient flow information to improve the feature representation and extraction *** We evaluated our method on public document datasets and compared it with previous methods,which achieved state-of-the-art results in terms of evaluation metrics such as recall and ***://***/Yong Z-Lee/TD-DCCAM.

Recent advances of carbon fiber-based self-supported electrocatalysts in oxygen electrocatalysis

As an essential light-absorbing material in perovskite-based tandem solar cells,widebandgap（WBG） perovskite has garnered extensive ***,due to severe non-radiative recombination from tail states,as well as photoinduced phase segregation and unoptimized charge transfer,WBG perovskite solar cells（PSCs） typically display significant open-circuit voltage（VOC） loss and low fill factor（FF）.In this work,we report to modify the 1.68 eV WBG perovskite film upon optimized surface passivation with 1,3-propanediammonium iodide（PDAI）.Time-resolved microwave conductivity measurement is employed to analyze the tail states,mobilities of charge carriers and the rate constants of recombination in perovskite *** results indicate that the optimized surface modification strategy not only enhances film quality,boosts carrier transport,but also suppresses tail states and therefore diminishes non-radiative recombination,consequently elevating the VOC and FF of the ***,the PDAI-assisted WBG PSCs deliver an optimal efficiency of 21.48 %,accompanied by a V of 1.243 ***,the integration of a narrow-bandgap tin–lead PSC with a semi-transparent WBG PSC results in a four-terminal perovskite/perovskite tandem solar cell,showcasing an efficiency surpassing 28 %.Our research offers a practical approach for producing efficient WBG PSCs and tandem solar cells.

Oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction(OER) are the key reactions in numerous renewable energy devices. Unlike conventional powdered catalysts, self-supported catalysts are extensively employed in oxygen electrocatalysis because of the enhanced electron-transfer rate, high specific surface area, and superior mechanical flexibility. Among the self-supported conductive substrates, carbon fiber usually exhibits several distinctive advantages, such as a straightforward preparation process, relatively low cost, good stability, and excellent conductivity. Against this background,carbon fiber-based self-supported electrocatalysts have been widely applied and studied in oxygen electrocatalysis, indicating a promising development direction in oxygen electrocatalyst ***, it is essential to offer an overall summary of the research progress in this field to facilitate its subsequent development. Taking the regulatory mechanisms and modification methods as a starting point, this review comprehensively summarizes recent research on carbon fiber-based self-supported electrocatalysts in recent years. Firstly, a brief overview of the synthesis methods and regulatory mechanisms of carbon fiber-based self-supported electrocatalysts is given. Furthermore, the view also highlights the modification methods and research progress of self-supported electrocatalysts synthesized on carbon fiber-based substrates in recent years in terms of different dopant atoms. Finally, the prospects for the application of self-supported electrocatalysts based on carbon fiber in oxygen electrocatalysis and the possible future directions of their development are presented. This review summarizes recent developments and applications of self-supported bi-functional electrocatalysts with carbon fiber-based materials as the conducting substrate in oxygen electrocatalysis.
