Urbanization affects vegetation within city administrative boundary and nearby rural *** primary production(GPP)of vegetation in global urban areas is one of important metrics for assessing the impacts of urbanization on terrestrial *** date,very limited data and information on the spatial-temporal dynamics of GPP in the global urban areas are *** this study,we reported the spatial distribution and temporal dynamics of annual GPP during 2000–2016 from 8,182 gridcells(0.5°by 0.5°latitude and longitude)that have various proportion of urban *** 79.3%of these urban gridcells had increasing trends of annual GPP during *** urban area proportion(%)within individual urban gridcells increased,the means of annual GPP trends also *** results suggested that for those urban gridcells,the negative effect of urban expansion(often measured by impervious surfaces)on GPP was to large degree compensated by increased vegetation within the gridcells,mostly driven by urban management and local climate and *** findings on the continued increases of annual GPP in most of urban gridcells shed new insight on the importance of urban areas on terrestrial carbon cycle and the potential of urban management and local climate and environment on improving vegetation in urban areas.

What Influences The Family Migration Decision of China’s New Generation rural-urban Migrants? A Multilevel Logistic Regression Analysis

The massive scale of new-generation rural-urban migrants in China has attracted extensive scholarly attention in recent *** previous studies on China’s rural migrant workers focus on migrants’settlement intentions,migrants’family migration decision-making and the intergenerational differences between the old-generation migrants and new-generation migrants are *** on the data of the 2017 China Migrants Dynamic Survey,this paper adopts a multilevel logistic regression approach to explore family and destination factors influencing the family migration decisions of China’s new generation of rural migrant *** empirical results reveal that both the migrants’family and destination attributes significantly influence their family migration *** demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the family have been pivotal factors underlying the family migration decision of China’s new generation rural-urban migrants,while 16.9%of the chances are explained by between-destination ***-employed migrants with housing properties in host cities,long migration duration and high-income levels are more likely to migrate with their family ***,the possibility of family migration is found to be significantly and negatively correlated with the age,education level,number of children and inter-provincial mobility of the new generation of migrant *** addition,new-generation rural-urban migrants’family migration is more likely to be found in cities with service-oriented industry structures,better environmental quality,and higher hukou barriers which is possibly related to more job *** research findings not only complement the existing literature on China’s new generation of rural urban migrants,but also have important policy implications for reforming the hukou system and enhancing social integration of the rural-to-urban migrant population.

The rural Women Participation in Small Scale Livestock Management Decisions

In the Turkish society, family is accepted as the basic element of social structure. However, the role and importance ofwomen in the family is mostly neglected. Thirty-three percent of women state that their primary duties are child care and domestictask. Besides duties of women in the house, the participation of women to both agricultural production and activities outside thehouse is quite high. On the other hand, only 5% of women accept income generating activities as the main duty of women. Thepercentage of women who accept all above-mentioned responsibilities as women’s duty is 60%. This high ratio shows that agreat deal of women can participate indoor or outdoor activities depending on the family needs, however, their responsibilitiesstemming from being a mother or wife always have thepriority. However, in rural areas women are involved in agriculturalproduction activities as a labor, in adition to housework, care for children and the elderly. In small and medium-sized enterprises,labor-intensive work is mostly undertaken by women, and workloads are often higher than men. In this study, face-to-face surveyswith 84 women in small-scale livestock farming in villages in the central province of Diyarbakır yielded results. It has beenunderstood that women do not make decisions on domestic affairs in their own family, that they can not decide on their own behalf,they give more opinions on decisions taken, and even some families do not even report opinions on decisions. It may be possible toimprove and increase the living standards and social and economic structures of women living in rural areas by increasing theirknowledge of animal care.

Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD） has a variable natural history and not all individuals follow the same course. This study aimed to identify the prevalence and characteristics of asymptomatic COPD patients from a population-based survey in *** A multistage cluster sampling strategy was used in a population from seven different provinces/cities. All residents （over 40 years old） were interviewed with a standardized questionnaire and ***-bronchodilator forced expiratory volume in 1 second （FEV1）/forced vital capacity （FVC） of less than 70% was defined as the diagnostic criterion of COPD. All COPD patients screened were divided into symptomatic group and asymptomatic group according to the presence or absence of chronic respiratory symptoms. Socio-demographic,personal and exposure variables were collected and *** Among the 1668 patients who were diagnosed with COPD from the 25 627 sampling subjects, 589 （35.3%）were asymptomatic. The age, sex, body mass index （BMI）,rural and urban distributions, smoking habit and education levels were similar in the two groups. A total of 64.7% of the asymptomatic patients had no comorbidities. Cardiovascular diseases and lung cancer were more common among symptomatic COPD patients than asymptomatic *** COPD group were less likely to present with poor ventilation in the kitchen, a family history of respiratory disease and recurrent childhood cough. Asymptomatic COPD patients had significantly higher FEV1 （73.1% vs. 61.0%）, FVC （91.9% vs. 82.0%）, and a higher ratio of FEV1/FVC （62.9% vs.58.7%）（all P 〈0.001） than symptomatic group. More asymptomatic patients were underdiagnosed （91.9% vs.54.3%, P〈0.001） than symptomatic *** This large population-based survey confirmed a high prevalence of asymptomatic COPD patients in China. More use of spirometry screening test may be important to the early detection of COPD.

Aim: To examine whether secular trends in adiposity and blood lipid profile of Greek children manifested equally among individuals from urban and rural provin ces. Methods: Cretan boys (aged 12.1 ±2.3 y) from urban and rural areas of Cret e were recruited in 1982 (n = 277 and 251, respectively) and 2002 (n = 440 and 1 80, respectively). Height, weight, and body mass index (BMI), as well as plasma lipid concentrations were measured and compared across cohorts (1982 vs 2002) an d regions (urban vs rural) by two-way analysis of covariance (adjusted for age) with interaction. Results: Temporal changes in height (positive), weight (posit ive), and BMI (positive) manifested equally in children from urban and rural pro vinces, as no interaction was detected. Similar results were obtained for triacy lglycerol (positive), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C, positive) an d high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (negative) concentrations. A significant interaction was observed only for total cholesterol (TC), which increased from 1982 among rural (by 6.2%, p rural areas, while they also had higher LDL-C concentrations, whether nowadays or 20 y ago. Regional differences in TC in 1982 were not apparent in 20 02. Conclusion: These findings suggest that changes in anthropometric characteri stics and plasma lipids during the past 20 y have occurred largely in parallel a mong urban and rural Cretan children, and they emphasize the importance of devel oping a common national strategy for the prevention and treatment of childhood o besity in Greece.

A comparison of hepatic lipid metabolism and fatty acid composition in muscle between Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire and Tibetan pigs from three regions

Qinghai-Tibet plateau with an average altitude above 4,000 m provides favorable conditions for Tibetan pigs that may have different meat quality from other pig *** study was designed to compare the differences in lipid metabolism in liver and fatty acid composition in muscle between Tibetan and Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire(DLY)*** Tibetan pigs(n=10),Gannan Tibetan pigs(n=9),Nyingchi Tibetan pigs(n=10)and DLY pigs(n=10)were selected for the *** fasting for 12 h,they were slaughtered and blood,liver and muscle samples were taken for biochemical *** results showed that the intramuscular fat content was not significantly different for Tibetan pigs among the three regions(P>0.05),which was significantly higher than that of DLY pigs(P<0.05).However,the liver fat content of Gannan Tibetan pigs was significantly lower than those of DLY pigs and Aba and Nyingchi Tibetan pigs(P<0.05).The hepatic lipid metabolism may be stronger in DLY pigs than in Tibetan pigs,but lipid deposition in muscle is weaker in DLY pigs than that in Tibetan *** Tibetan pigs and Nyingchi Tibetan pigs had similar proportions of saturated,monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids,while Gannan Tibetan pigs and DLY pigs had similar types of fatty *** findings provide new insight into mechanisms of environmental and breed effects on pork quality.

[目的]了解跨境HIV阳性越南籍女性性工作者(以下称为FSWs)感染HIV相关高危性行为及原因,为中越跨境合作开展艾滋病防治提供依据。[方法]以河口县为调查点,目的抽样方法选取HIV阳性越南籍FSWs4名、嫖客、项目管理人员及外展各1名为调查对象,按照半结构访谈提纲进行个人深入访谈,收集其跨境、高危性行为及HIV感染原因等信息。[结果]越南籍FSWs都来自越南农村,文化程度低,都不会说汉语,经常被老板转租。与中国人、越南人发生高危性行为,大部分嫖客为中方当地居民及长卡司机。[结论]仅为跨境FSWs提供少量安全套是远远不够的,应考虑越语外展服务、宣传材料,以跨境合作方式强化综合艾滋病咨询检测、提供性病治疗、同伴教育、抗病毒治疗等综合服务,才能有效控制艾滋病跨境传播。
