Methane, an abundant one-carbon（C1） resource, is extensively used in the industrial production of vital fuels and value-added chemicals. However, current industrial methane conversion technologies are energy-and carbon-intensive, mainly due to the high activation energy required to break the inert C–H bond, low selectivity, and problematic side reactions, including CO2emissions and coke deposition. Electrochemical conversion of methane（ECM） using intermittent renewable energy offers an attractive solution, due to its modular reactor design and operational flexibility across a broad spectrum of temperatures and pressures. This review emphasizes conversion pathways of methane in various reaction systems, highlighting the significance and advantages of ECM in facilitating a sustainable artificial carbon cycle. This work provides a comprehensive overview of conventional methane activation mechanisms and delineates the complete pathways of methane conversion in electrolysis contexts. Based on surface/interface chemistry, this work systematically analyzes proposed reaction pathways and corresponding strategies to enhance ECM efficiency towards various target products, including syngas, hydrocarbons, oxygenates, and advanced carbon materials. The discussion also encompasses opportunities and challenges for the ECM process, including insights into ECM pathways, rational electrocatalyst design, establishment of benchmarking protocols, electrolyte engineering, enhancement of CH4conversion rates, and minimization of CO2emission.

China＇s Horqin Sandy Land,a formerly lush grassland,has experienced extensive desertification that caused considerable carbon（C） losses from the plant-soil *** restoration through grazing exclusion is a widely suggested option to sequester C and to restore degraded *** a desertified grassland,we investigated the C accumulation in the total and light fractions of the soil organic matter from 2005 to 2013 during natural *** a depth of 20 cm,the light fraction organic carbon（LFOC） storage increased by 221 g C/m2（84%） and the total soil organic carbon（SOC） storage increased by 435 g C/m2（55%）.The light fraction dry matter content represented a small proportion of the total soil mass（ranging from 0.74% in 2005 to 1.39% in 2013）,but the proportion of total SOC storage accounted for by LFOC was remarkable（ranging from 33% to 40%）.The C sequestration averaged 28 g C/（m2·a） for LFOC and 54 g C/（m2·a） for total *** total SOC was strongly and significantly positively linearly related to the light fraction dry matter content and the proportions of fine sand and silt＋*** light fraction organic matter played a major role in total SOC *** results suggest that grazing exclusion can restore desertified grassland and has a high potential for sequestering SOC in the semiarid Horqin Sandy Land.

The chemical compositions,mineralogical characteristics,as well as dissemination of iron-and phosphorus-based minerals were studied for the E’xi oolitic hematite from western Hubei Province in China by using chemical analysis,optical microscope,electron probe micro-analyzer(EPMA)and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS).It is found that this kind of oolitic hematite ore contains 47.71%TFe,10.96%SiO_2,as well as 0.874%P,with hematite as the dominant Fe-bearing minerals,and quartz,chamosite,illite and cellophane as main gangue *** microscope examination showed that the ore has an oolitic structure,with some ooids principally formed by a series of concentric layers of hematite collophanite around nucleus that is hematite in the association with *** on the EPMA and EDS analysis,it can be known that some ooids are primarily composed of hematite and *** separation can be achieved through fine grinding for those collophanite laminae with a higher P ***,the dissemination of two minerals at the interface will result in the difficulty in effective ***,some ooids are made of chamosite with some nucleus formed of quartz,which is principally finely disseminated with *** view of the close association and dissemination of iron-and phosphorus-based minerals in the ooids,it is found that the process of stage-grindings and stage-separations can be adopted to effectively increase the iron recovery and decrease the P content in the concentrate to some extent.

A large quantity of Premian volcanic rocks formed in Sawu＇er region of Xinjiang, China. Based on the analysis of the rare earth elements＇（REEs） geochemical characteristics of the volcanic rocks, the correlativity of REE and major elements, and diagrams of covariant relation of REE, combined with the research results of the regional geological setting, petrology, and petrochemistry characteristics, it is inferred that the mechanism of the formation of Premian basic and intermediate volcanic rocks is mainly attributed to equilibrium partial melting, and the magmatic fractional crystallization is not significant, whereas the rock-forming processes of medium-acidic volcanic rocks is influenced by both partial melting and fractional crystallization. The REE geochemical research provided important evidence for the mechanism of magmatism of the Premian post-collision stage and the geodynamical evolution process.

Extensive migmatization and large-scale post-collisional intrusions occurred in the Dabie orogen, east-central China,during the Early Cretaceous, characterized by distinct deformation preserved in migmatites in the North Dabie Complex *** North Dabie Complex unit can be subdivided into three areas based on detailed field observations： the north of the Tiantangzhai pluton, the Luotian area and the Yuexi area. Banded migmatites crop out in the north of the Tiantangzhai pluton while anisotropically deformed migmatites occur in the Luotian area, and both types coexist in the Yuexi area. Microscopy reveals similar micro-structures are in migmatites from the north of the Tiantangzhai pluton, the Yuexi area and border of the Luotian area, while static recrystallization appears in migmatites from the core of the Luotian area. The Lattice-Preferred Orientation of dynamically recrystallized quartz grains in the migmatites are measured using electron backscattered diffraction,revealing prism slip or slip in migmatite from the north of the Tiantangzhai pluton and the Yuexi area and in one sample from the Luotian area. A Type I crossed girdle is developed in another sample from the Luotian area, indicating top-to-the-SE shearing that developed under greenschist facies conditions. Zircon U-Pb dates from four migmatites reveal that mainly Early Cretaceous ages are from the north of the Tiantangzhai pluton, only four Early Cretaceous ages are from the Luotian area, and all zircons from the Yuexi area record Indosinian metamorphic ages. Although zircon U-Pb results show multiple migmatization events, all samples record a migmatization age of about 132 Ma, suggesting an orogen-scale event at that time. The subsolidus deformation in migmatites indicates that deformation were soon after migmatization. Overall, this study shows that deformation in migmatites of the North Dabie Complex unit occurred somewhat later than the migmatization（132 Ma） at about 131 Ma. The most likely mecha

Tamarix spp. （Saltcedar） is a facultative phreatophyte that can tolerate drought when groundwater is not accessed. In addition to deep water uptake, hydraulic redistribution （HR） is another factor contributing to the drought tolerance of Tarnarix spp. In this study, data on soil volumetric moisture content （0）, lateral root sap flow, and relevant climate variables were used to investigate the patterns, magnitude, and controlling factors of HR of soil water by roots of Tamarix ramosissima Ledeb. in an extremely arid land in Northwest China. Results showed evident diurnal fluctuations in 0 at the depths of 30 and 50 cm, indicating ＂hydraulic lift＂（HL）. 0 increased remarkably at 10 and 140 cm but decreased at 30 and 50 cm and slightly changed at 80 cm after rainfall, suggesting a possible ＂hydraulic descent＂（HD）. However, no direct evidence was observed in the negative flow of lateral roots, supporting HR （including HL and HD） of T. ramosissima. The HR pathway unlikely occurred via lateral roots; instead, HR possibly occurred through adventitious roots with a diameter of 2-5 mm and a length of 60-100 cm. HR at depths of 20-60 cm ranged from 0.01-1.77 mm/d with an average of 0.43 mm/d, which accounted for an average of 22% of the estimated seasonal total water depletion at 0-160 cm during the growing season. The climate factors, particularly vapor pressure deficit and soil water potential gradient, accounted for at least 33% and 45% of HR variations with depths and years, respectively. In summary, T. ramosissima can be added to the wide list of existing species involved in HR. High levels of HR may represent a considerable fraction of daily soil water depletion and substantially improve plant water status. HR could vary tremendously in terms of years and depths, and this variation could be attributed to climate factors and soil water potential gradient.

Background: The species–area relationship is one of the best documented patterns in community *** influencing species–area relationship are still not well *** the proposal of the equilibrium theory of island biogeography, many studies have tested the effects of area and isolation, estimating effects of disturbance and patch age were scarce and should also be important ***: We investigated summer waterbird species richness in 38 post?mining subsidence lakes in Huainan and Fuyang, Anhui, China, May 25–June 12, *** examined the effects of lake area, isolation(distance to natural water bodies), aquaculture disturbance, lake age and lake state(still sinking or not sinking) on summer waterbird species richness with multivariable linear regression method and model selection ***: Our results from multivariable linear regression and model selection were consistent, which showed that species richness was positively related with lake area and negatively related with *** disturbance negatively influenced species *** species richness were found in lakes under intermediate intensity of aquaculture activities with area less than 100 ha and lakes under low intensity of aquaculture activities with area greater than 100 *** age and lake state had no significant effects on species ***: Species richness was most related with lake area, aquaculture disturbance, and isolation, with lake area had a positive effect, while aquaculture activities and isolation had a negative ***'s more, aquaculture activi?ties significantly changed the slope of species–area relationship and might impede us finding a relationship between species richness and lake age.
