Impact of Ion Implantation on Licorice(Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch) Growth and Antioxidant Activity Under Drought Stress

Low energy ion beams are known to have stimulation effects on plant generation and to improve plants＇ intrinsic quality. In the present study, the growth and physiological index of licorice implanted with 0, 8, 10; 12 and 14× （2.6× 10^15） ions/cm^2 were investigated under well-watered and drought-stress conditions. The results showed that a proper dose of ion implan- tation was particularly efficient in stimulating the licorice growth and improving the plant biomass significantly in both the well-watered and drought-stress conditions. The physiological results of licorice measured by leaf water potential, lipid oxidation, soluble protein and antioxidant system showed a significant correlation between ion implantation and water regime except for leaf water potential. Therefore, the study indicated that ion implantation can enhance licorice＇s drought tolerance by increasing the activity of superoxide dismutase （SOD）, eatalase （CAT） and DPPH （1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl） radical scavenging ability to lower oxidative damage to lipids in plants. Ion beam implantation, therefore, provides an alternative method to enhance licorice drought tolerance.

We present a scheme for teleportation of multi-ionic GHZ states and arbitrary bipartite ionic state only by single-qubit measurements via linear optical elements. In our scheme, we avoid the difficulty of joint measurement and synchronizing the arrival time of the two scattered photons, which are faced by previous schemes. So our scheme can be realized easily within current experimental technology.

We consider the problem of state estimation of qubits chosen from circles. It is shown that any qubit encoded in pairs chosen from a fixed circle parailel to the x-y equator with different phases contains the same information. We also investigate the problem of state estimation of qubits from three circles. The optimai estimation fidelity is derived.

We propose a remote state preparation （RSP） scheme of three-particle Greenberger Horne-Zeilinger （GHZ） class states, where quantum channels are composed of two maximally entangled states. With the aid of forward classical bits, the preparation of the original state can be successfully realized with the probability 1/2, the necessary classical communication cost is 0.5 bit on average. If the state to be prepared belongs to some special states, the success probability of preparation can achieve 1 after consuming one extra bit on average. We then generalize this scheme to the case that the quantum channels consist of two non-maximally entangled states.

This paper proposes a simple scheme for generating a three-atom GHZ state via cavity quantum electrodynamics （QED）. The task can be achieved through the interaction between two EPR states, which can be prepared easily with current technology. In this scheme, the cavity field is only virtually excited during the interaction process, and no quantum information transfer between the atoms and the cavity is required. Thus it greatly prolongs the efficient decoherent time. Moreover, this scheme is also applicable for generating an N-atom GHZ state.

We investigate the phase transitions behavior of the majority-vote model with noise on a topology that consists of two coupled random networks. A parameter p is used to measure the degree of modularity, defined as the ratio of intermodular to intramodular connectivity. For the networks of strong modularity （small p）, as the level of noise f increases, the system undergoes successively two transitions at two distinct critical noises, fc1 and fc2. The first transition is a discontinuous jump from a coexistence state of parallel and antiparallel order to a state that only parallel order survives, and the second one is continuous that separates the ordered state from a disordered state. As the network modularity worsens, fc1 becomes smaller and fc1 does not change, such that the antiparallel ordered state will vanish if p is larger than a critical value of pc. We propose a mean-field theory to explain the simulation results.

An experimentally feasible scheme for teleportation of an arbitrary unknown entangled state is proposed. Our scheme is based on Josephson charge qubits, where we do not need any joint measurement. Moreover the successful probability and fidelity of the teleportation can both reach 1.0. The current scheme can be realized within the current experimental technology.
