The underlying physics of QCD phase transition in the early Universe remains largely unknown due to its strong-coupling nature during the quark-gluon plasma/hadron gas transition, yet a holographic model has been proposed to quantitatively fit the lattice QCD data while with its duration of the first-order phase transition(FoPT) left undetermined. At specific baryon chemical potential, the first-order QCD phase transition agrees with the observational constraint of baryon asymmetry. It, therefore, provides a scenario for phase transition gravitational waves(GWs) within the standard model of particle physics. If these background GWs could contribute dominantly to the recently claimed common-spectrum red noise from pulsar timing array(PTA) observations, the duration of this FoPT can be well constrained, and the associated primordial black holes are still allowed by current observations.

Myelin is the protective sheath surrounding nerve fibers, and its damage(demyelination) occurs in many central nervous system(CNS) diseases, including multiple sclerosis(MS), traumatic injury, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, and mental disorders such as schizophrenia(Barateiro et al., 2016). Repair of damaged myelin sheaths(remyelination) often fails in MS, leading to neuronal loss and irreversible functional deficits.

The Miocene epoch marks the most crucial period during the Cenozoic cooling trend, characterized by the Middle Miocene Climatic Optimum(MMCO) and a series of short–lived cooling events(Miocene isotope events).To understand the paleoenvironmental evolution along the shallow water shelf in the South China Sea during the Miocene, the benthic foraminiferal assemblage and total organic carbon content(TOC) were analyzed at Hole LF14 located in the Lufeng Sag, northern South China Sea. Three benthic foraminiferal assemblages(e.g., the Uvigerina spp. assemblage, the Cibicides spp. assemblage, and the Cibicidoides spp. assemblage), corresponding to different watermass conditions, were recognized based on Q–mode factor analysis. Early studies suggested that Hole LF14 was deposited under semienclosed bay, middle to outer shelf or even upper bathyal environment during ～18.7–4.53 Ma. The dominant Uvigerina spp. assemblage was characterized by low diversity and shallow infaunal to infaunal species, indicating a warm, low–oxygenation and eutrophic conditions since the Early Miocene to MMCO(～18.7–14.24 Ma). An abrupt sea level drop and significant faunal changes were recorded during 14.24–13.41 Ma, suggesting development of the East Antarctic Ice Sheets, which resulted in a drop of sea level and change in benthic foraminiferal assemblages along the shallow water shelf. Beyond the Uvigerina ***, the Cibicides spp. assemblage became important during the middle–late Middle Miocene(14.24–11.54 Ma). This assemblage was dominated by epifaunal species with relative high diversity, suggesting high–energy, high–oxygenation and oligotrophic conditions with episodic supply of organic food. The dominant Cibicidoides spp. assemblage with high diversity, indicates a mesotrophic conditions with relative high–oxygen content during the Late Miocene to Pliocene(11.54–4.53 Ma). The Tarim basin experienced a complex tectonic evolutionary history from Sinian to Ceno zoic. Eight largescale and more than 20 subordinate unconformities defining tectonosequences of dif ferent protobasins formed in various tectonic settings have been identified within the Phanerozoic in the Tarim basin, their distribution determining the general characteristics of sequence stratigraphic framework of the basin. Tectonostratigraphic unit I （magasequence） consists mainly of the Sinian Sys tem, which formed in a rift or aulacogen setting and can been subdivided into two subordinate strati graphic units （supersequences）. Unconformity （Tgg） between Sinian and Cambrian with surface karsti fication is regarded as a postrift unconformity. Tectonostratigraphic unit II comprises the Cambrian and the Ordovician and can be divided into six subordinate tectonostratigraphic units, recording the tectonogeographic evolution of the prototype basins from Cambrian to Early Ordovician passive car bonate continental margin or cratonic depression and the Late Ordovician submarine to neritic ret roarc foreland and cratonic depressions. The tectonic uplift related to the formation of the unconformity Tg5-2 resulted in the remarkable change in basin tectonic setting from a passive divergent to an active convergent, with the development of the Tazhong （塔中） uplift, the Tangguzibasi （塘古孜巴斯）, and the northern depression at the end of the Middle to the early Late Ordovician. The widespread angular unconformity Tg5 formed by a relatively strong compressive deformation, which caused an abrupt tec tonogeographic change of the basin from abyssal to a neritic setting in response to the collision andassociated tectonic deformation of the North Kunlun （昆仑） orogenesis during the Late Ordovician to the Early Silurian. ABSTRACT： Based on the integrated subsurface data, including those of over 600 m drilled cores, more than 30 drilled wells and 600 km^2 three-dimensional （3D） seismic-reflection data of the study area, the characteristics of the lake-floor fan of lower Yaojia （姚家） Formation have been clarified. An evident lacustrine slope break and a steep slope belt developed in the west of Songliao （松辽） basin during depositional period of Qingshankou （青山口）-Yaojia formations （K2）. The slope gradient was about 15 m/kin. During the depositional period of lower Yaojia Formation, the lake shrank and the shore line of the western Songiiao basin shifted to the lacustrine slope-break. The wedge-shaped sediment body, which is interpreted as the lowstand system tract of SQyl （LSTy1）, developed in the area below the slope-break. The LSTy1 is pinched out in the west of the study area. As to the thickness of LSTy1, it is thicker in the east with 50 m in its thickness than in the west. The LSTy1, rich in sandstone, can be divided into lower part LSTy1L and upper part LSTy1u based on two onlap seismic reflection phases, and core and logging data clearly. The various sediments＇ gravity flow deposits developed and the complex of lake-floor fan formed in the LSTy1 under the slope-break in the western part of the central depression region. The lake-floor fan consists of various sediments＇ gravity flow deposits, including：（1） turbidity deposits with characteristics of Bouma sequences; （2） sand-bearing muddy debrite dominated by mud and mixed by sand; （3） mud-bearing sandy debrites characterized by dominated sand and mixed by mud; （4） sandy debris laminar flow deposits with massive or inclined bedding, and （5） sandy slump deposits developed as deformational sedimentary structure. Oxidation of Cr(Ⅲ) on birnessite surfaces: The effect of goethite and kaolinite

Oxidation of Cr（Ⅲ） by manganese oxides may pose a potential threat to environments due to the formation of toxic Cr（Ⅵ） species. At present, it was still unclear whether the extent of Cr（Ⅲ） oxidation and fate of Cr（Ⅵ） would be changed when manganese oxides co-exist with other minerals, the case commonly occurring in soils. This study investigated the influence of goethite and kaolinite on Cr（Ⅲ） oxidation by birnessite under acidic p H condition（p H 3.5）and background electrolyte of 0.01 mol/L Na Cl. Goethite was found not to affect Cr（Ⅲ）oxidation, which was interpreted as the result of overwhelming adsorption of cationic Cr（Ⅲ） onto the negatively-charged birnessite（point of zero charge（PZC）〈 3.0） rather than the positively-charged goethite（PZC = 8.8）. However, more Cr（Ⅵ） would be retained by the surface with the increase in addition of goethite because of its strong ability on adsorption of Cr（Ⅵ） at low p H. Moreover, either Cr（Ⅲ） oxidation or distribution of the generated Cr（Ⅵ）between the solid and solution phases was not affected by kaolinite（PZC 〈 3.0）, indicating its low affinity for Cr species. Reactions occurring in the present mixed systems were suggested, which could be partly representative of those in the soils and further indicates that the mobility and risk of Cr（Ⅵ） would be decreased if goethite was present.
