As the wind turbine height increases,the probability of multiple upward leaders flashes within the wind farm increases.In this study,an upward lightning flash containing 21 upward positive leaders(UPLs)initiated from different wind turbines in Zhangbei Wind Farm was analysed.The average speed of the UPLs was 1.2×10^(5) m/s,which mostly decreased to zero before reaching the cloud height.Only four UPLs developed to cloud height,with prolonged periods of bright light on three of them and with a minimum duration of 126 ms.A total of nine return strokes occurred on the other two dissipated leader channels,and the numbers of strokes on the two channels was six and three,respectively.The average interstroke interval for the return strokes was 10.5 ms.Most of these nine return strokes had peak currents smaller than 10 kA.The high-speed video frames confirmed that competition does exist between the UPLs,and the range of shielding effects increases as the height of the ULs increases.The effect of fan rotation on the initiation of upward leaders and the shielding effect between the wind turbines and upward leaders are discussed.

By refueling aircraft while they are in flight,aerial refueling is an efficient technique to extend their endurance and range.Autonomous Aerial Refueling(AAR)is anticipated to be used to complete aerial refueling for unmanned aircraft.There are three aerial refueling methods:the Probe-and-Drogue Refueling(PDR)refueling method,the flying-boom refueling method,and the boom-drogue-adapter refueling method.The paper considers the PDR approach,the most challenging of the three,because the flexible hose-drogue assembly has fast dynamics and is susceptible to various kinds of winds,which makes the probe docking with the drogue difficult.PDR is divided into four phases,namely the rendezvous phase,joining phase,refueling phase,and reform phase,with the refueling phase being the most crucial.The controller design faces the greatest challenge during the docking control of the refueling phase since it calls for a high level of safety,precision,and efficiency.As a result,the modeling and control issues encountered during the refueling phase are typical and difficult.The fundamental idea of AAR is presented in the paper first,after which the characteristics and requirements of AAR are outlined.The progress in modeling and control techniques for the AAR’s refueling phase is then systematically reviewed.Finally,potential future work for high safety,precision,and efficiency requirements is examined and suggested.

In the DC microgrid,the lack of inertia and damping in power electronic converters results in poor stability of DC bus voltage and low inertia of the DC microgrid during fluctuations in load and photovoltaic power.To address this issue,the application of a virtual synchronous generator(VSG)in grid-connected inverters control is referenced and proposes a control strategy called the analogous virtual synchronous generator(AVSG)control strategy for the interface DC/DC converter of the battery in the microgrid.Besides,a flexible parameter adaptive control method is introduced to further enhance the inertial behavior of the AVSG control.Firstly,a theoretical analysis is conducted on the various components of the DC microgrid,the structure of analogous virtual synchronous generator,and the control structure’s main parameters related to the DC microgrid’s inertial behavior.Secondly,the voltage change rate tracking coefficient is introduced to adjust the change of the virtual capacitance and damping coefficient flexibility,which further strengthens the inertia trend of the DC microgrid.Additionally,a small-signal modeling approach is used to analyze the approximate range of the AVSG’s main parameters ensuring system stability.Finally,conduct a simulation analysis by building the model of the DC microgrid system with photovoltaic(PV)and battery energy storage(BES)in MATLAB/Simulink.Simulation results from different scenarios have verified that the AVSG control introduces fixed inertia and damping into the droop control of the battery,resulting in a certain level of inertia enhancement.Furthermore,the additional adaptive control strategy built upon the AVSG control provides better and flexible inertial support for the DC microgrid,further enhances the stability of the DC bus voltage,and has a more positive impact on the battery performance.

Time based maintenance(TBM)and condition based maintenance(CBM)are widely applied in many large wind farms to optimize the maintenance issues of wind turbine gearboxes,however,these maintenance strategies do not take into account environmental benefits during full life cycle such as carbon emissions issues.Hence,this article proposes a carbon emissions computing model for preventive maintenance activities of wind turbine gearboxes to solve the issue.Based on the change of the gearbox state during operation and the influence of external random factors on the gearbox state,a stochastic differential equation model(SDE)and corresponding carbon emission model are established,wherein SDE is applied to model the evolution of the device state,whereas carbon emission is used to implement carbon emissions computing.The simulation results indicate that the proposed preventive maintenance cannot ensure reliable operation of wind turbine gearboxes but reduce carbon emissions during their lifespan.Compared with TBM,CBM minimizes unit carbon emissions without influencing reliable operation,making it an effective maintenance method.

In light of the prevailing issue that the existing convolutional neural network(CNN)power quality disturbance identification method can only extract single-scale features,which leads to a lack of feature information and weak anti-noise performance,a new approach for identifying power quality disturbances based on an adaptive Kalman filter(KF)and multi-scale channel attention(MS-CAM)fused convolutional neural network is suggested.Single and composite-disruption signals are generated through simulation.The adaptive maximum likelihood Kalman filter is employed for noise reduction in the initial disturbance signal,and subsequent integration of multi-scale features into the conventional CNN architecture is conducted.The multi-scale features of the signal are captured by convolution kernels of different sizes so that the model can obtain diverse feature expressions.The attention mechanism(ATT)is introduced to adaptively allocate the extracted features,and the features are fused and selected to obtain the new main features.The Softmax classifier is employed for the classification of power quality disturbances.Finally,by comparing the recognition accuracy of the convolutional neural network(CNN),the model using the attention mechanism,the bidirectional long-term and short-term memory network(MS-Bi-LSTM),and the multi-scale convolutional neural network(MSCNN)with the attention mechanism with the proposed method.The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method is higher than CNN,MS-Bi-LSTM,and MSCNN,and the overall recognition rate exceeds 99%,and the proposed method has significant classification accuracy and robust classification performance.This achievement provides a new perspective for further exploration in the field of power quality disturbance classification.

With the current integration of distributed energy resources into the grid,the structure of distribution networks is becoming more complex.This complexity significantly expands the solution space in the optimization process for network reconstruction using intelligent algorithms.Consequently,traditional intelligent algorithms frequently encounter insufficient search accuracy and become trapped in local optima.To tackle this issue,a more advanced particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed.To address the varying emphases at different stages of the optimization process,a dynamic strategy is implemented to regulate the social and self-learning factors.The Metropolis criterion is introduced into the simulated annealing algorithm to occasionally accept suboptimal solutions,thereby mitigating premature convergence in the population optimization process.The inertia weight is adjusted using the logistic mapping technique to maintain a balance between the algorithm’s global and local search abilities.The incorporation of the Pareto principle involves the consideration of network losses and voltage deviations as objective functions.A fuzzy membership function is employed for selecting the results.Simulation analysis is carried out on the restructuring of the distribution network,using the IEEE-33 node system and the IEEE-69 node system as examples,in conjunction with the integration of distributed energy resources.The findings demonstrate that,in comparison to other intelligent optimization algorithms,the proposed enhanced algorithm demonstrates a shorter convergence time and effectively reduces active power losses within the network.Furthermore,it enhances the amplitude of node voltages,thereby improving the stability of distribution network operations and power supply quality.Additionally,the algorithm exhibits a high level of generality and applicability.

Miniature magnetic-driven robots with multimode motions and high-precision pose sensing capacity(position and orientation)are greatly demanded in in situ manipulation in narrow opaque enclosed spaces.Various magnetic robots have been carried out,whereas their deformations normally remain in single mode,and the lack of the robot’s real-time status leads to its beyond-sight remagnetization and manipulation being impossible.The function integration of pose sensing and multimode motion is still of challenge.Here,a multimotion thin-film robot is created in a novel multilayer structure with a magneticdriven layer covered by a heating-sensing conductive layer.Such a heating-sensing layer not only can segmentally and on-demand heat the magnetic-driven layer for in situ magnetization reprogramming and multimode motions but also can precisely detect the robot’s pose(position and orientation)from its electrical-resistance effect by creating a small deformation under preset magnetic fields.

This paper focuses on the online distributed optimization problem based on multi-agent systems. In this problem, each agent can only access its own cost function and a convex set, and can only exchange local state information with its current neighbors through a time-varying digraph. In addition, the agents do not have access to the information about the current cost functions until decisions are made. Different from most existing works on online distributed optimization, here we consider the case where the cost functions are strongly pseudoconvex and real gradients of the cost functions are not available. To handle this problem, a random gradient-free online distributed algorithm involving the multi-point gradient estimator is proposed. Of particular interest is that under the proposed algorithm, each agent only uses the estimation information of gradients instead of the real gradient information to make decisions. The dynamic regret is employed to measure the proposed algorithm. We prove that if the cumulative deviation of the minimizer sequence grows within a certain rate, then the expectation of dynamic regret increases sublinearly. Finally, a simulation example is given to corroborate the validity of our results.

This paper investigates the consensus-based formation control problem for multi-agent systems with unknown nonlinear dynamics.To achieve the desired formation,we propose two formation controllers to achieve the desired formation,one based on system states and the other on system outputs.The proposed controllers utilize adaptive gains to avoid global information and neural networks to estimate and compensate for nonlinearities.The proposed event-triggered schemes avoid continuous communication among agents and exclude the Zeno behavior.Stability analysis reveals that formation errors are bounded,and numerical simulations are used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

A three-dimensional(3D)thermomechanical vibration model is developed for rotating pre-twisted functionally graded(FG)microbeams according to the refined shear deformation theory(RSDT)and the modified couple stress theory(MCST).The material properties are assumed to follow a power-law distribution along the chordwise direction.The model introduces one axial stretching variable and four transverse deflection variables including two pure bending components and two pure shear ones.The complex modal analysis and assumed mode methods are used to solve the governing equations of motion under different boundary conditions(BCs).Several examples are presented to verify the effectiveness of the developed model.By coupling the slenderness ratio,gradient index,rotation speed,and size effect with the pre-twisted angle,the effects of these factors on the thermomechanical vibration of the microbeam with different BCs are investigated.It is found that with the increase in the pre-twisted angle,the critical slenderness ratio and gradient index corresponding to the thermal instability of the microbeam increase,while the critical material length scale parameter(MLSP)and rotation speed decrease.The sensitivity of the fundamental frequency to temperature increases with the increasing slenderness ratio and gradient index,and decreases with the other increasing parameters.Moreover,the size effect can suppress the dynamic stiffening effect and enhance the Coriolis effect.Finally,the mode transition is quantitatively demonstrated by a modal assurance criterion(MAC).
