Modern computer graphics applications commonly feature very large virtual environments and diverse characters which perform different kinds of motions. To accelerate path planning in such a scenario, we propose the subregion graph data structure. It consists of subregions, which are clusters of locally connected waypoints inside a region, as well as subregion connectivities. We also present a fast algorithm to automatically generate a subregion graph from an enhanced waypoint graph map representation,which also supports various motion types and can be created from large virtual environments. Nevertheless,a subregion graph can be generated from any graphbased map representation. Our experiments show that a subregion graph is very compact relative to the input waypoint graph. By firstly planning a subregion path, and then limiting waypoint-level planning to this subregion path, over 8 times average speedup can be achieved, while average length ratios remain as low as102.5%.

Induced seismicity associated with underground space creation and resource extraction has become a matter of global ***,our ability to predict and mitigate anthropogenic geohazards is still woefully *** review provides an overview of unloading-induced seismicity and highlights the mechanisms behind fault instability from a view of rock *** on numerous fault instability cases,reduction and rotation of in situ stresses on pre-existing faults are possible causes of excavation-induced *** instability during resource extraction is related to many geological and operational factors,including mining depth,pore pressure,stress distribution,and production *** of these cases can be explained by the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion,and some exceptional cases could offer us new clues to improve the understanding of the mechanisms behind and the ability to predict and mitigate the induced seismic *** current challenges include how to control remote triggering of fault instability and how to manage unseen threat of undetected *** technologies,such as data analytics and machine learning,combining with physical models could be the next frontier for fault instability research.

A frequency selective polarization rotator that can rotate the polarization angle of an incident electromagnetic wave at the microwave frequency by 45 is presented. The polarization rotator is based on a two-dimensional periodic array of substrate integrated waveguide cavities, realizing the polarization rotation by coupling the input signal to the output wave through three metallic slots. Two layers of frequency selective surfaces are cascaded by substrate and form the polarization rotator. A vertical slot on the top layer is used to select the horizontal polarization from the incident wave, the vertical and the horizontal slots on the bottom layer are, respectively, used to obtain horizontally and vertically polarized outgoing waves. The two orthogonal outgoing waves are combined to result in the 45~ polarized wave. Both full wave simulation and experimental measurement are carried out, together validating the proposed method.

In this paper, we consider the decentralized optimal control problem for linear discrete-time systems with multiple input channels. First, under centralized control, the optimal feedback gains are given in terms of two algebraic Riccati equations. A reduced order observer is then designed using only the local input and output information. By selecting an appropriate initial value for the observer, we derive an observer-based decentralized optimal controller where the feedback gain is the same as that obtained in the centralized optimal control problem. Last but not least, we study the optimal control problem of non-homogeneous multi-agent systems as an application. A suboptimal decentralized controller is obtained and the difference between the suboptimal cost and the optimal one is given.

Semiconducting piezoelectricα-In_(2)Se_(3) and 3R MoS_(2) have attracted tremendous attention due to their unique electronic *** van der Waals(vdWs)hetero-structures constructed withα-In_(2)Se_(3)and 3R MoS_(2)flakes have shown promising applications in optoelectronics and ***,we present the first flexibleα-In_(2)Se_(3)/3R MoS_(2)vdWs p-n heterojunction devices for photodetection from the visible to near infrared *** heterojunction devices exhibit an ultrahigh photoresponsivity of 2.9×10^(3)A W^(−1) and a substantial specific detectivity of 6.2×10^(10) Jones under a compressive strain of−0.26%.The photocurrent can be increased by 64%under a tensile strain of+0.35%,due to the heterojunction energy band modulation by piezoelectric polarization charges at the hetero-junction *** work demonstrates a feasible approach to enhancement of α-In_(2)Se_(3)/3R MoS_(2) photoelectric response through an appropriate mechanical stimulus.
