Refined chronology of prehistoric cultures and its implication for re-evaluating human-environment relations in the Hexi Corridor,northwest china

The reconstruction of high-resolution chronologies for prehistoric cultures is a prerequisite for understanding the history of human evolution and its relationship with environmental change, and is valuable for exploring the trajectory of transcontinental cultural exchanges in prehistoric time. The Hexi Corridor of northwest china was one of the earliest centers for long-distance culture exchange in the prehistoric world. The timing and sequence of cultural changes in this area remains poorly understood resulting from the lack of radiometric age control. This paper presents a refined radiocarbon(14 C) chronology to resolve the timing of human occupation and cultural evolution in the Hexi Corridor. Radiocarbon dating of crop remains, which have an annual life cycle, has the advantage of eliminating problems such as the carbon stored in ‘old wood’. As a result,14C dates from crop remains are used to test the validity of the14C dates derived from charcoal, bone and plant remains. The resultant database of ages is modelled using the Bayesian approach. The updated chronology presented in this paper shows generally good agreement with the original dates used to constrain cultural evolution in the Hexi Corridor. However, the occupation of the corridor by the Shajing and Shanma Late Bronze Age-Early Iron Age cultures appears to have taken place ~300 years later than previously thought. On the basis of comparing this updated chronology of cultural evolution with palaeoclimatic and historical records, it is proposed that the collapse of the Shajing and Shanma cultures occurred as a result of geopolitical impact rather than climate change.

The formation age and evolution of Kumtagh Desert

The ancient aeolian sand has been regarded as an indicator for the formation and evolution of a desert in the *** Desert is located at the northern fringe of Qinghai-Tibet *** first integrated scientific investigation to the desert was carried out during the period of *** Desert is an ideal natural model for studying the formation and evolution of the desert because the Quaternary strata containing ancient aeolian sands are widely *** integrated field investigation and studies on sedimentary,chronology and palynology of typical profiles named Suosuo gully,Xiaoquan gully and gravel body with ancient aeolian sand layers showed that Kumtagh Desert was probably formed as early as 2,097.7±314.7 ka *** the period of 386.9±58.0 ka BP to 285.9±42.9 ka BP,the desert largely expanded and formed its modern distribution *** desert was originally developed in the southwest,subsequently,expanded to the north and *** sedimentary facies of Suosuo gully profile revealed that the desert experienced at least 19 cycles of advance and inverse processes of desertification with an average period of 110 ka in the *** neotectonic movements played an important role in the formation,development and geomorphology of the *** one hand,the movements caused the formation of intermontane fault basin,which was further developed towards the closed drought basin,and caused the formation of natural *** the other hand,under the control of surrounding faults,the unique broom-shaped desert landscape was formed,and the gullies and sand ridges in this region experienced an abrupt directional change from north by west to north by east at the location of 39°45＇-39°55＇*** unique landscape of gravel body that occurred widely in the northern desert was formed after 285.9±42.9 ka *** results in this paper provide the scientific basis for studying the formation age and evolutionary process under the dry climate and

A study on the influencing factors of rural tourism promoting households'shared prosperity in Yinan County of Shandong Province

This study examines the influencing factors of rural tourism in promoting shared prosperity among households,using the case study of Yinan County in Shandong province,*** research aims to provide insights into the economic benefits experienced by low-income households in the context of rural tourism *** on field research conducted from April 8,2023,to May 17,2023,including interviews and site visits,the study constructs an evaluation index system to assess the influencing *** expert scoring and the application of a weighted set-valued mathematical statistical model,the importance and quantification of each factor are *** results indicate that the current stage of promoting shared prosperity through rural tourism in Yinan County is primarily influenced by the scale of tourist consumption of external *** factor outweighs others such as the participation capacity and willingness of low-income households,the capacity of investment enterprises,and the policies and financial allocation of the local *** findings emphasize the significance of external visitor spending and highlight the need to address the obstacles faced by low-income households in accessing economic *** evaluation index system and measurement model presented in this study offer a scientific basis for assessing and improving the income situation of low-income households in rural tourism development ***,it is crucial to note that the importance of these influencing factors may evolve with the lifecycle of the tourism *** research should include long-term tracking and consider a broader range of indicators to deepen our understanding of their mechanisms and ***,alternative approaches and theories may provide valuable perspectives for further exploration in this field.

Zoo-archaeological and genetic evidence suggest that pigs were domesticated independently in Central china and Eastern Anatolia along with the development of agricultural communities and ***,the genetic history of domestic pigs,especially in china,has not been fully *** this study,we generate 42 complete mitochondrial DNA sequences from~7500-to 2750-year-old individuals from the Yellow River *** results show that the maternal genetic continuity of East Asian domestic pigs dates back to at least the Early to Middle *** contrast,the Near Eastern ancestry in European domestic pigs saw a near-complete genomic replacement by the European wild *** majority of East Asian domestic pigs share close haplotypes,and the most recent common ancestor of most branches dates back to less than 20,000 years before present,inferred using new substitution rates of whole mitogenomes or combined protein-coding *** major population expansion events of East Asian domestic pigs coincided with changes in climate,widespread adoption of introduced crops,and the development of agrarian *** findings add to our understanding of the maternal genetic composition and help to complete the picture of domestic pig evolutionary history in East Asia.

Changes in the Foot Binding culture: The Female Body and Politics in Regions Governed by the Communist Party of china during the Anti-Japanese War

Since 1949,Chinese mainland historians and creators in film and television,novels,and reportage have continued to shape the heroic image of female groups in the base areas of the Communist Party of china(CPC)during the Anti-Japanese *** participated in production,women's mobilization,and reconstruction of the rural political order Tike men.55 They pursued the equality between men and women,marked by freedom of marriage,and also participated in regional guerrilla warfare to combat the Japanese puppet army"as men."However,in the remote villages of north china at the end of the Qing dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of china,it was not common for women to unbind their *** wartime,most women over twenty years of age were forever left with the"three-inch golden lotus"(sancun jinlian)*** damage of the war accelerated their acceptance of the CPC's emancipation concepts and policies and presented them with an opportunity to actively implement *** experience of survival drastically changed traditional aesthetics,ideas,and customs related to *** and psychological changes occurred as a result of the war;women began to go out of their homes to participate in the work of the Women's Salvation Association and the Youth Salvation Association,and a group of women achieved marriage equality between men and women in the form of"divorce her husband"(qi xiu fu).Due to pressure,women carried more physical and mental responsibilities,faced insufficient advocacy for their rights,and the aesthetics and mentality of womanhood underwent change.

Diversified manufacturing processes and multiple mineral sources:Features of Warring States bronze vessels excavated from Chutai Cemetery M1,Anhui Province

Northern Anhui was an important region for diverse bronze culture convergence and extensive metal resource circulation in the Pre-Qin *** this paper,metallographic microstructure analysis,chemical composition analysis,and lead isotope ratio analysis were conducted on 12 samples of 6 Warring States Period(476–221 BCE)bronze vessels excavated from Chutai Cemetery M1,Fuyang,Anhui Province,revealing the integrated application of diversified manufacturing processes,such as casting,forging,cold working,and welding and multiple metal *** analytical results showed that 2 Ding vessels(鼎)were made by casting,and 2 He vessels(盒)and 2 Dui vessels(敦)were made by forging followed by cold *** two types of bronze vessels made by different manufacturing processes have significantly distinct alloy ratios and mineral sources,among which the Cu and Sn contents of the 2 cast bronze vessels are lower and the Pb content is higher,while the Cu and Sn contents of the 4 forged bronze vessels are higher and the Pb content is *** lead minerals of the two types of bronze vessels might come from Western Henan and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River,*** addition,the 3 pieces of solder used to weld bronze vessels were all made of pure Sn,their metal minerals should come from the densely distributed area of tin ore in Southern china,and Sn solders were mainly discovered in the Chu culture area during the Eastern Zhou Period.

In recent years,the concept"northern ethnic dynasties"has been widely used when referring to dynasties established by ethnic groups from northern china,including Liao,Jin,Yuan,and Qing *** it comes to the prolonged debates on the relation between ethnic groups and state,the traditional narrative of the dynastic history of Central Plains,which holds"sinicization"as its principal line,has been challenged;and the academia has been focusing on how to elaborate features and state forms of these northern ethnic *** article argues that,only by returning to the dynasty-based narrative of the evolvement of northern ethnic regimes,can we break the shackle of western-style"nation state"narrative;can we understand the fact that dynasticity transcends ethnicity in Chinese history;and can we thereby establish the correct view of history on the Chinese nation.

He Made an important contribution to esoteric buddhism. Although Tibetan Buddhism history recorded Nyangs stories, at present, there is not enough attention on the research of Nyangs. In this paper, we mainly discussed Nyangs life story and his historical records .
