Strategies to assemble therapeutic and imaging molecules into inorganic nanocarriers

Inorganic nanocarriers are potent candidates for delivering conventional anticancer drugs,nucleic acid-based therapeutics,and imaging agents,influencing their blood half-lives,tumor targetability,and *** addition to the high surface area-to-volume ratio,they exhibit excellent scalability in synthesis,controllable shape and size,facile surface modification,inertness,stability,and unique optical and magnetic ***,only a limited number of inorganic nanocarriers have been so far approved for clinical applications due to burst drug release,poor target specificity,and *** overcome these barriers,understanding the principles involved in loading therapeutic and imaging molecules into these nanoparticles(NPs)and the strategies employed in enhancing sustainability and targetability of the resultant complexes and ensuring the release of the payloads in extracellular and intracellular compartments of the target site is of paramount ***,we will shed light on various loading mechanisms harnessed for different inorganic NPs,particularly involving physical entrapment into porous/hollow nanostructures,ionic interactions with native and surface-modified NPs,covalent bonding to surface-functionalized nanomaterials,hydrophobic binding,affinity-based interactions,and intercalation through co-precipitation or anion exchange reaction.

A New Coumarin-Based Fluorescent pH Probe

A new iminocoumarin-derived colorimetric and fluorescent pH probe was developed for rapid and sensitive detection of pH changes in biological and environmental media. With the decrease of pH value( from 6. 24 to 3. 00),an obvious color change of the probe in ethanol-water solution from green to yellow was observed under nature light. The intensity of the maximum fluorescence emission peak of the probe decreased gradually with the acidity increase of the solution. While the fluorescence intensity of the emission peak of the probe did not exhibit distinct change when pH was less than 11. 00 and the fluorescence was almost quenched at pH 13. 50. Sensitivity of the fluorescent pH probe was not interfered by the presence of common metal cations and anions.

Cyanobacterial blooms have become a serious pollution problem,in particular,for water *** aeruginosa(***)is most common toxic cyanobacterial bloom in fresh *** this paper,Sn O2-montmorillonite composite was prepared by ion exchange method and applied to remove *** with the assistance of *** structure of the resulting composite was identified by XRD,IR and *** was determined that some Sn O2nanoparticles were inserted into the interlayer of montmorillonite and some were dispersed on the surface of *** removal efficiency was judged by the rate of 95%after treatment with 0.3 g/L Sn O2-montmorillonite for 1 *** O2-montmorillonite composite absorbed *** and promoted *** lysis by damaging cell wall and *** cellular contents,including protein and chlorophyll a,were then degraded with the assistance of UV-light,which inhibited the biological activity of *** fact,Sn O2-montmorillonite composite removed *** by combination of adsorption flocculation and UV-induced catalytic *** O2-montmorillonite shows promise to become an effective material for the removal of algae and the cyanobacteria bloom.

Yellow seed trait is a desirable characteristic with potential for increasing seed quality and commercial value in rapeseed,and anthocyanin and proanthocyanidins(PAs)are major seed-coat *** transcription factors involved in the regulation of anthocyanin and PAs biosynthesis have been characterized in *** this study,we identified a transcription factor gene BnbHLH92a(BnaA06T0441000ZS)in *** BnbHLH92a both in Arabidopsis and in rapeseed reduced levels of anthocyanin and ***,the expression profiles of anthocyanin and PA biosynthesis genes(TT3,BAN,TT8,TT18,and TTG1)were shown by quantitative real-time PCR to be inhibited in BnbHLH92a-overexpressing Arabidopsis seeds,indicating that BnbHLH92a represses the anthocyanin and PA biosynthesis pathway in ***92a physically interacts with the BnTTG1 protein and represses the biosynthesis of anthocyanins and PAs in ***92a also binds directly to the BnTT18 promoter and represses its *** results suggest that BnbHLH92a is a novel upstream regulator of flavonoid biosynthesis in ***.

Nanobiotechnology： 1D nanomaterial building blocks for cellular interfaces and hybrid tissues

Solid-state nanomaterials exhibit complementary interactions with biological systems because of their biologically-relevant size scales and rationally tunable electrical, chemical and mechanical properties. In this review, we focus specifically on one-dimensional （1D） nanomaterials such as silicon or gold nanowires or carbon nanotubes. We discuss the nature of the nanomaterial-cell interface, and how that interface may be engineered to enhance or modulate cellular function. We then describe how those unique interfaces may be exploited in three-dimensional （3D） tissue culture to recapitulate the extracellular matrix and promote or complement morphogenesis. Finall~ we describe how 1D nanomaterials may be elucidated as nanoelectronic devices that monitor the chemical or electrical environment of cells or tissue with exquisite spatial and temporal resolution. We discuss prospects for entirely new classes of engineered, hybrid tissues with rationally-designed biological function and two-way, closed-loop electronic communication.

An immune system based differential evolution algorithm using near-neighbor effect in dynamic environments

Many real-world problems are dynamic,requiring optimization algorithms being able to continuously track changing optima(optimum) over *** paper proposes an improved differential evolutionary algorithm using the notion of the near-neighbor effect to determine one individuals neighborhoods,for tracking multiple optima in the dynamic environment.A new mutation strategy using the near-neighbor effect is also *** creates individuals by utilizing the stored memory point in its neighborhood,and utilizing the differential vector produced by the ’nearneighbor -superior’ and ’near-neighbor-inferior’.Taking inspirations from the biological immune system,an immune system based scheme is presented for rapidly detecting and responding to the environmental *** addition,a differencerelated multidirectional amplification scheme is presented to integrate valuable information from different dimensions for effectively and rapidly finding the promising optimum in the search *** on dynamic scenarios created by the typical dynamic test instance—moving peak problem,have demonstrated that the near-neighbor and immune system based differential evolution algorithm(NIDE) is effective in dealing with dynamic optimization functions.

Birds in nature exhibit excellent long-distance flight capabilities through formation flight,which could reduce energy consumption and improve flight *** by the biological habits of birds,this paper proposes an autonomous formation flight control method for Large-sized Flapping-Wing Flying Robots(LFWFRs),which can enhance their search range and flight ***,the kinematics model for LFWFRs is ***,an autonomous flight controller based on this model is designed,which has multiple flight control modes,including attitude stabilization,course keeping,hovering,and so ***,a formation flight control method is proposed based on the leader–follower strategy and periodic characteristics of flapping-wing *** up and down fluctuation of the fuselage of each LFWFR during wing flapping is considered in the control algorithm to keep the relative distance,which overcomes the trajectory divergence caused by sensor delay and fuselage ***,typical formation flight modes are realized,including straight formation,circular formation,and switching ***,the outdoor formation flight experiment is carried out,and the proposed autonomous formation flight control method is verified in real environment.

How to ensure the safe,effective,and ethical use of emerging biotechnologies,such as clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)-based genome editing,is a global *** occurrence of the"CRISPR babies"in 2018 publicly brought this issue into sharp focus,and led to comprehensive regulatory reforms in China and various countries around the *** current article analyzes this event-driven regulatory reform in China by elaborating the most salient provisions designed to prevent risk and protect individual rights,public health,and social morality relating to human genome editing in four important sectors of law:biosecurity law,civil code,criminal law and patent *** highlights that,although regulation is being undertaken,the gaps between the law and advancing technology remain discernible,at both a national and transnational level(i.e.,the "double-pacing problem").Further attention and collaboration will be required to address the ongoing challenges associated with the use of human genome editing.
