A group of 96 Mainland Chinese subjects were asked to respond to 12 questions by indicating their expectations about operation, direction-of-motion, and description of movement for items such as doors, keys, taps, and switches. Strong response preferences were found for the whole questionnaire. Fuzzy clustering was used to analyze the structure and characteristics of Mainland Chinese stereotypes. The results for Mainland Chinese subjects were compared with those for Hong Kong Chinese and Americans reported earlier. There are no significant differences for the population stereotypes for daily operational tasks in the three regions. The responses of the Hong Kong Chinese and Mainland Chinese are similar, but with significant variations between different populations, especially for some specific items in the questionnaire.

Membrane proteins are embedded in the lipid bilayer,which creates a suitable environment for their actions. It is important to decide which tpye it belongs to because it is closely relevant to its biological function and its interaction process with other molecules in a biological system. Membrane proteins have different types. The function of a membrane protein is closely correlated with the type it belongs to. In this study,on the basis of the concept of pseudo amino acid (PseAA) composition originally introduced by Chou,the value of approximate entropy (ApEn) of the query membrane protein was used to integrate the complementary information. By fusing fifteen powerful individual fuzzy K-nearest neighbor ( FKNN) classifiers,an ensemble classifier was presented. Each basic classifier was trained in PseAA composition of membrane protein sequences with different parameters. The results of experiments demonstrate it is efficient for the structural prediction of membrane proteins.

Forty-five acid sulfatc topsoil samples (depth < 0.5 m) from 15 soil coreswere collected from 11 locations along the New South Wales coast, Australia. There was an overalltrend for the concentration of the HCl-extractable P to increase along with increasing amounts oforganic C and the HCl-extractable trivalent metals in the topsoils of some less-disturbed acidsulfate soils (pH < 4.5). This suggests that inorganic P in these soils probably accumulated viabiological cycling and was retained by complexation with trivalent metals or their oxides andhydroxides. While there was no clear correlation between pH and the water-extractable P, theconcentration of the water-extractable P tended to increase with increasing amounts of theHCl-extractable P. This disagrees with some established models which suggest that the concentrationof solution P in acid soils is independent of total P and decreases with increasing acidity. Thehigh concentration of sulfate present in acid sulfate soils appeared to affect the chemical behaviorof P in these soil systems. Comparison was made between a less disturbed wetland acid sulfate soiland a more intensively disturbed sugarcane acid sulfate soil. The results show that reclamation ofwetland acid sulfate soils for sugarcane production caused a significant decrease in theHCl-extractable P in the topsoil layer as a result of the reduced bio-cycling of phosphorusfollowing sugarcane farming. Simulation experiment shows that addition of hydrated lime had noeffects on the immobilization of retained P in an acid sulfate soil sample within a pH range3.5～4.6. When the pH was raised to above 4.6, soluble P in the soil extracts had a tendency toincrease with increasing pH until the 15th extraction (pH 5.13). This, in combination with the poorpH-soluble P relationship observed from the less-disturbed acid sulfate soils, suggests that solubleP was not clearly pH-dependent in acid sulfate soils with pH < 4.5.

One of the major concerns for the technology market is the demand volatility andits impact on inventory policies. Demand volatility in the technology sector mayarise due to many factors namely customer choices, competition, growingmarket size, and so on. Often companies use rented warehouses to absorb anyfluctuations in demand. Unfortunately, warehouse and inventory researchesignore the phenomenon of growing market size to formulate policy decisions. Inthis paper, we proposed a two-warehouse inventory model with deterioration fortechnology products with linearly increasing market size where demand followsinnovation diffusion criterion. The model is based on the assumption that theholding costs in the rented warehouse are more than the own warehouse. Asimple solution procedure also discussed to solve nonlinear cost *** example and sensitivity analysis are also used to describe the utilityof the model.

In the paper, cooperative two-stage network games are studied. At the first stage of the game, players form a network, while at the second stage players choose their behaviors according to the network realized at the first stage. As a cooperative solution concept in the game, the core is *** is proved that some imputations from the core are time inconsistent, whereas one can design for them a time-consistent imputation distribution procedure. Moreover, the strong time consistency problem is also investigated.

Aimed at eliminating all forms discrimination against women, ensuring human rights and fundamental freedoms for women in all fields and realizing de-facto equality between men and women, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women adopted by the U.N. General Assembly is a most significant and most comprehensive legal document concerning the protection of human rights of women, which is called "The Charter of the Human Rights of Women." This thesis reviews the achievements and problems in the fulfillment by the Chinese government of obligations under the Convention after signing and ratifying it; and also puts forward some feasible approaches for improvement thereof.
