With advancements in technology, personal computing devices are better adapted for and further integrated into people’s lives and homes. The integration of technology into society also results in an increasing desire to control who and what has access to sensitive information, especially for vulnerable people including children and the elderly. With blockchain rise as a technology that can revolutionize the world, it is now possible to have an immutable audit trail of locational data over time. By controlling the process through inexpensive equipment in the home, it is possible to control whom has access to such personal data. This paper presents a block-chain based family security system for outdoor tracking and in-house monitoring of users’ activities via sensors to detect anomalies in users’ daily activities with the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI). For outdoor tracking the locations of the consenting family members’ smart phones are logged and stored in a private blockchain which can be accessed through a node installed in the family home on a computer. The data for the whereabouts and daily activities of family members stays securely within the family unit and does not go to any third-party organizations. A Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) based smart contract is used for anomaly detection in users’ daily activities in a smart home, which notifies emergency contact or other family members in case of anomaly detection. The approach described in this paper contributes to the development of in-house data processing for outdoor tracking, and daily activities monitoring and prediction without any third-party hardware or software. The system is implemented at a small scale with one miner, two user nodes and several device nodes, as a proof of concept;the technical feasibility is discussed along with the limitations of the system. Primary or parental magmas act as probes to infer eruption and source temperatures for both mid-ocean ridge （MOR） and‘hot-spot＇ magmas （tholeiitic picrites）. The experimental petrogenetic constraints （＇inverse＇ experiments） argue for no significant temperature differences between them. However, there are differences in major, minor and trace elements which characterise geochemical, not thermal, anomalies beneath ‘hot-spots＇. We suggest that diapiric upwelling from interfaces （redox contrasts） between old subducted slab and normal MOR basalt source mantle is the major reason for the observed characteristics of island chain or ‘hot-spot＇ volcanism. Intraplate basalts also include widely distributed volcanic centres containing lherzolite xenoliths, i.e. mantle-derived magmas. Inverse experiments on olivine basalt, alkali oli- vine basalt, olivine basanite, olivine nephelinite, olivine melilitite and olivine leucitite （lamproite） determined liquidus phases as a function of pressure, initially under anhydrous and CO2-absent conditions. Under C- and H-absent conditions, only tholeiites to alkali olivine basalts had O1 ＋ Opx 4-Cpx as high-pressure liquidus phases. Addition of H20 accessed olivine basanites at 2.5-3 GPa, ,- 1,200 ℃, but both CO2 and H20 were necessary to obtain saturation with O1, Opx, Cpx and Ga at 2.5-3.5 GPa for olivine nephelinite and olivine melilitite. The forward and inverse experimental studies are combined to formulate a petrogenetic grid for intraplate, ‘hot-spot＇ and MOR magmatism within the plate tectonics paradigm. The asthenosphere is geochemically zoned by slow upward migration of incipient melt. The solidus and phasestabilities of lherzolite with very small water contents （〈3,000 ppm） determine the thin plate behaviour of the oceanic lithosphere and thus the Earth＇s convection in the form of plate tectonics. Backfilling is a common practice in the mining industry and the backfilling performance plays a significant role in supporting the surrounding rock *** evaluate the backfilling performance,an experimental apparatus has been developed to understand how backfill affects the compressive strength of sandstone specimens in the *** were selected to model the backfill and divided into six groups with different particle sizes using a set of standard *** backfilling pebbles with three types of particle size compositions were then produced,*** gradation,two adjacent gradations,and increasingly widening gradations.A series of compressive tests were carried out to study the mechanical behavior of the sandstone specimens confined by these *** effects of the gradations of the filled pebbles on the peak and residual compressive strengths were *** is found that the increasing amount of the compressive strength is over 10%in most cases,even up to 20%.Based on the experiment data,the increasing amount was also estimated theoretically under some assumptions and it further confirmed the experimental *** effects are closely related to the gradations of the filled pebbles except for their dense degree.

Hybrid finite-discrete element modelling of asperity degradation and gouge grinding during direct shearing of rough rock joints

A hybrid finite-discrete element method was implemented to study the fracture process of rough rock joints under direct shearing. The hybrid method reproduced the joint shear resistance evolution process from asperity sliding to degradation and from gouge formation to grinding. It is found that, in the direct shear test of rough rock joints under constant normal displacement loading conditions, higher shearing rate promotes the asperity degradation but constraints the volume dilation, which then results in higher peak shear resistance, more gouge formation and grinding, and smoother new joint surfaces. Moreover, it is found that the joint roughness affects the joint shear resistance evolution through influencing the joint fracture micro mechanism. The asperity degradation and gouge grinding are the main failure micro-mechanism in shearing rougher rock joints with deeper asperities while the asperity sliding is the main failure micro-mechanism in shearing smoother rock joints with shallower asperities. It is concluded that the hybrid finite-discrete element method is a valuable numerical tool better than traditional finite element method and discrete element method for modelling the joint sliding, asperity degradation, gouge formation, and gouge grinding occurred in the direct shear tests of rough rock joints.

A systematic method was developed for ice-class propeller modeling,performance estimation,strength and integrity evaluation and *** estimate the impact of sea ice on the propeller structure,URI3 rules,established by the International Association of Classification Societies in 2007,were applied for ice loading *** R-class propeller(a type of ice-class propeller)was utilized for subsequent *** propeller modeling was simplified based on a conventional method,which expedited the model building *** propeller performance was simulated using the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)*** simulation results were validated by comparison with experimental ***,the hydrodynamic pressure was transferred into a finite element analysis(FEA)module for strength assessment of ice-class *** to URI3 rules,the ice loading was estimated based on different polar classes and working ***,the FEA method was utilized to evaluate the propeller *** validation showed that the simulation results accorded with recent research ***,an improved optimization method was developed to save the propeller constituent *** optimized propeller example had a minimum safety factor of 1.55,satisfying the safety factor requirement of≥1.5,and reduced the design volume to 88.2%of the original.

Recent research suggests that oxidative stress,via its links to metabolism and senescence,is a key mechanism linking life history traits such as fecundity and growth with survival;however,this has rarely been put under empirical scrutiny within free-living *** a wild population of live-bearing skinks,we explored how plasma antioxidant activity(OXY),reactive oxidative metabolites(ROM),and the estimated oxidative stress index are associated with female and male life *** found that male skinks have a significantly higher ROM and estimated oxidative stress index than female skinks,but this was not accompanied by a sex difference in *** sexes showed a non-linear association between OXY and age,indicating that the oldest and youngest individuals had the lowest ***,female skinks with high OXY showed a decreased probability of survival to the following ***,we found no significant associations between female reproductive investment(litter size or litter mass)or parturition date(***)and oxidative ***,our results offer mixed support for a role of oxidative stress in mediating life history traits and suggest that future studies need to explore oxidative stress during vitellogenesis in addition to using an intra-individual approach to understand the cost of reproduction and patterns of aging.

Hydrous magnesium oxide coated fly ash （MFA） has environmental remediation potential by providing a sub- strate for the adsorption of aqueous Cr（Ⅲ）. Aqueous Cr（Ⅲ） adsorption onto MFA was examined as a function of MFA dosage, pH and initial Cr（Ⅲ） concentration with the Box-Behnken approach used for experimental design and optimization using response surface methodology （RSM）. pH and dosage （dosage and concentration） have significant interactive effects on Cr（Ⅲ） adsorption efficiency. Analysis of variance shows that the response surface quadratic model is highly significant and can effectively predict the experimental outcomes. Cr（Ⅲ） removal effi- ciency of 98% was obtained using optimized conditions of MFA dosage, pH and initial Cr（Ⅲ） concentration of 1,5 7 g. L- 1, 4.11 and 126 mg. L- 1, respectively. Cr（Ⅲ） adsorption onto MFA is mainly attributed to the interaction between Or（Ⅲ） and the functional group --OH of the hydrous magnesium oxide, in all probability caused by chemisorptions. The results of this study can conduce to reveal the interactions between Cr（Ⅲ） pollutant and MFA characteristics, posing important implications for the cost-effective alternative adsorption technology in the treatment of heavy metal containing wastewater.
