For the continuous utilization of nuclear energy and efficient control of radioactive pollution, low-cost materials with high efficient U(VI) removal are of great importance. In this study, low temperature plasma method was applied for the successful modification of Ophosphorylethanolamine(O-PEA) on the porous carbon materials. The produced materials(Cafe/O-PEA) could adsorb U(VI) efficiently with the maximum sorption capacity of 648.54mg/g at 1 hr, T=298 K, and p H=6.0, much higher than those of most carbon-based composites. U(VI) sorption was mainly controlled by strong surface complexation. From FTIR,SEM-EDS and XPS analyses, the sorption of U(VI) was related to the complexation with-NH2, phosphate and-OH groups on Cafe/O-PEA. The low temperature plasma method was an efficient, environmentally friendly and low-cost method for surface modification of materials for the effective enrichment of U(VI) from aqueous solutions.

The effects of Sm doping into CuInTe_(2) chalcopyrite on the cohesive energy before and after light absorption are systematically investigated by the empirical electron theory(EET) of solids and molecules.The results show that the static energy of CuIn_(1-x)Sm_(x)Te_(2) decreases with Sm content increasing due to the valence electronic structure modulated by doping Sm into CuIn_(1-x)Sm_(x)Te_(2).The calculated optical absorption transition energy from the static state to the excited energy level in CuIn_(1-x)Sm_(x)Te_(2) accords well with the experimental absorption bandgap of CuIn_(1-x)Sm_(x)Te_(2).Moreover,it is found that the energy bandgap of CuIn_(1-x)Sm_(x)Te_(2) is significantly widened with Sm content increasing due to its special valent electron structure,which is favorable for enhancing the light absorption in a wider range and also for the potential applications in solar cells.

The formation of controllable size and dripping frequency in electrohydrodynamic(EHD)atomization with electric periodic dripping regime are of much interest and importance because of significant and wide applications,such as micro-encapsulation and ink-printing.In the present study,the experimental and theoretical works were carried out to explore droplet formation in periodic dripping regime in presence of an electric field.The dimensionless electric charge carried by each droplet produced is smaller than the 50%of critical value of the Rayleigh limit,where charge-to-mass ratio of droplets was obtained through the deflection distance in the presence of an electric field.The droplet in electric periodic dripping regime usually undergoes oscillating deformation,and finally forms a spherical droplet below the tip no more than ten times out diameter of tube.The droplet size tens of microns to one hundreds of microns decreases with an increase in applied potential.In the electric dripping mode,droplets size is independent of flow rate and affected by flow rate due to adsorption of surface active species in micro-dripping.The simplified model to predict droplets size was derived from the balance of electric,surface tension and gravity forces.The droplets size calculated in good agreement with the experiments.Meanwhile,the dripping frequency of droplets with rang of a few to several hundred hertz obtained from timeresolved images is highly dependent of liquid flow rate and electric potential.The largest dripping frequency was predicted and in reasonable agreement with the experimental results.In electric periodic dripping regime drop-on-demand droplets in size and dripping frequency further our understanding on the formation of identical droplets and are beneficial to many practical applications.

The dynamic processes and characteristics of solid phase diffusion-bonding of interfacial atoms at high tempera-tures and the effect of that on bonding strength of Ni(111)/)/-Al_(2)O_(3)(0001)interface were investigated through molecular dynamics.It is shown that atomic diffusion occurs at the Ni/Al_(2)O_(3) interface in the temperature range from 698 K to 1,098 K,and proceeds mainly from the Ni side to the ) Al_(2)O_(3) side.The interface was previously reconstructed by solid bonding below the melting temperature,leading to the amorphization of the interface.Be-sides,the intermetallic complexes such as Al_(m)Ni_(n)(e.g.,AlNi_(3)),metal oxide NiO and Ni-Al-O bonds were formed gradually during the diffusion process of atoms.The formation mechanisms of the Ni-Al,Ni-O,and Ni-Al-O bonds are revealed.Based on the reconstructed structure,the adhesion effort at the interface is compared.The higher the temperature,the larger the bond number and the higher the interfacial bonding strength.

Catalytic performance and reaction mechanisms of NO removal with NH_(3) at low and medium temperatures on Mn-W-Sb modified siderite catalysts

Iron-based catalysts have been explored for selective catalytic reduction(SCR)of NO due to environmentally benign characters and good SCR activity.Mn-W-Sb modified siderite catalysts were prepared by impregnation method based on siderite ore,and SCR perfor-mance of the catalysts was investigated.The catalysts were analyzed by X-ray diffrac-tion,H_(2)-temperature-programmed reduction,Brunauer-Emmett-Teller,Thermogravimetry-derivative thermogravimetry and in-situ diffused reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS).The modified siderite catalysts calcined at 450℃ mainly consist of Fe_(2)O_(3),and added Mn,W and Sb species are amorphous.3Mn-5W-1.5Sb-siderite catalyst has a wide temperature window of 180-360℃ and good N_(2) selectivity at low temperatures.In-situ DRIFTS results show NH_(4)^(+),coordinated NH_(3),NH_(2),NO_(3)^(-)species(bidentate),NO_(2)-species(nitro,nitro-nitrito,monodentate),and adsorbed NO_(2) can be discovered on the sur-face of Mn-W-Sb modified siderite catalysts,and doping of Mn will enhance adsorbed NO_(2) formation by synergistic catalysis with Fe^(3+).In addition,the addition of Sb can inhibit sulfates formation on the surface of the catalyst in the presence of SO_(2) and H_(2)O.Time-dependent in-situ DRIFTS studies also indicate that both of Lewis and Br?nsted acid sites play a role in SCR of NO by ammonia at low temperatures.The mechanism of NO removal on the 3Mn-5W-1.5Sb-siderite catalyst can be discovered as a combination of Eley-Rideal and Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanisms with three reaction pathways.The mechanism of NO,oxidized by synergistic catalysis of Fe^(3+)and Mn^(4+/3+)to form NO_(2) among three pathways,reveals the reason of high NO_(x) conversion of the catalyst at medium and low temperatures.

Porous foam based on renewable materials has attracted extensive attention in green energy conservation and sustainable development.However,there is still a requisite for biomass-based porous foam that could meet the demand for excellent mechanical and high thermal insulation performances for building insulation.Herein,we demonstrated a facile strategy to prepare a porous foam made from a chitosan matrix reinforced by SiC whisker,which shows good performance in building insulation and mechanical strength.The prepared porous foam has a low density(20.1–54.4 kg m^(-3))and high porosity(>97.0%).The density of the chitosan-SiC porous foam can be controlled by varying the suspension solid and SiC whisker content in the preparation process.Furthermore,the influences of SiC whisker content on the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the porous foams were also investigated.When the content of SiC whisker is 30 wt%,the prepared porous foam has the highest compression modulus of about 89.8 kPa and also low thermal conductivity of 0.0354 W m^(-1)K^(-1).Moreover,the prepared porous foam shows excellent water vapor permeability with a vapor resistance factor of 2.94,which is beneficial for moisture transfer in buildings.This work provides a facile way to manufacture biomass-based porous foam,which is potential for energy saving in buildings.

This paper aims to conduct a comprehensive exergoeconomic analysis of a novel zero-carbon-emission multi-generation system and propose a fast optimization method combined with machine learning.The detailed exergoeconomic analysis of a novel combined power,freshwater and cooling multi-generation system is performed in this study.The exergoeconomic analysis model is established by exergy flow theory.A comprehensive exergy,exergoeconomic and environmental analysis is carried out.Five critical decision variables are researched to bring out effects on the multi-generation system exergoeconomic performance.A novel fast optimization method combining genetic algorithm and Bagging neural network is proposed.The advanced nature comparison is made between the proposed system and four similar cases.Results display that increasing the turbine inlet temperature can improve exergy efficiency and decrease the total product unit cost.The multi-generation system exergy destruction directly determines exergy efficiency and total exergy destruction cost rate.The total product unit cost in the cost optimal design case is reduced by 7.7%and 25%,respectively,compared with exergy efficiency optimal design case and basic design case.Compared with four similar cases,the proposed multi-generation system has great advantages in thermodynamic performance and exergoeconomic performance.This paper can provide research methods and ideas for performance analysis and fast optimization of multi-generation system.

Coupled interactive effects of ammonia and hydrogen additions on ethylene diffusion flames: A detailed kinetic study

In order to create effective combustion technologies and fuels with low or no carbon emissions,the research was conducted to assess the coupled interactive effects of NH_(3) and H_(2) additions on ethylene counterflow diffusion flames from a kinetic perspective.The effects of the NH_(3)/H_(2) combination on flame temperatures,major species,key radicals,important intermediate species,representative oxygenated species and NO_xwere examined.The results of the study utilizing fictitious inert NH_(3) and/or H_(2) revealed the chemical effects of the two components.It was found that the NH_(3)/H_(2) coupled effects had a more effective inhibitory effect on soot precursors than the effects of corresponding sum of single NH_(3) or H_(2) addition.The production of soot precursors was promoted by the coupled chemical effects of NH_(3) and H_(2),but the coupled dilution and thermal effects were observed to have a greater impact,resulting in a decrease of the mole fractions of soot precursors.As for the interaction of NH_(3) and H_(2) effects,the presence of H_(2) decreased the chemical effects of NH_(3) on the augmentation of C_(2)H_(2),A1,A2,and CH_(3)CHO mole fractions.The NH_(3) addition alleviated the H_(2) chemical effects on increasing C_(2)H_(2),C_(3)H_(3),A1 and A2 concentrations.Conversely,the NH_(3)chemical effects on C_(3)H_(3),OH and CH_(3)CHO were enhanced when H_(2) was added.The presence of NH_(3) augmented the chemical effects of H_(2) on the growth of OH mole fraction.Moreover,the H_(2) chemical effects hindered the production of NO and NO_(2) in the presence of NH_(3).

Gas–liquid two-phase flow is complex and has uncertainty in phase interfaces, which make the two-phase flow look very complicated. Even though the flow behavior(e.g. coalescence, crushing and separation) of single bubble or bubble groups in the liquid phase looks random, combining some established characteristics and methodologies can find regularities among the randomness. In order to excavate the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of gas–liquid two-phase flow, the authors developed an improved matrix pencil(IMP) method to analyze the pressure difference signals of the two-phase flow. This paper elucidates the influence of signal length on MP calculation results and the anti-noise-interference ability of the MP method. An IMP algorithm was applied to the fluctuation signals of gas–liquid two-phase flow to extract the mode frequency and damping ratio, which were combined with the component energy index(CEI) entropy to identify the different flow patterns. It is also found that frequency, damping ratio, CEI entropy and stability diagram together not only identify flow patterns, but also provide a new way to examine and understand the evolution mechanism of physical dynamics embedded in flow patterns. Combining these characteristics and methods, the evolution of the nonlinear dynamic physical behavior of gas bubbles is revealed.

We investigated the efficiency and kinetics of the degradation of soluble dyes over the p H range 5.0–9.0 using a method employing microwave radiation in combination with nanoscale zero-valent iron（MW–n ZVI）. The n ZVI particles（40–70 nm in diameter） were prepared by a liquid-phase chemical reduction method employing starch as a dispersant.Compared to the removal of Solvent Blue 36 and Reactive Yellow K-RN using only n ZVI,more rapid and efficient dye removal and total organic carbon removal were achieved using MW–n ZVI. The dye removal efficiency increased significantly with decreasing p H, but was negligibly affected by variation in the microwave power. The kinetics of dye removal by MW–n ZVI followed both an empirical equation and the pseudo first-order model, while the kinetics of dye removal using n ZVI could only be described by an empirical equation. It was also concluded that microwave heating of the dye solutions as well as acceleration of corrosion of n ZVI and consumption of Fe（II） were possible reasons behind the enhanced dye degradation.
